Created for demanding training and competition, GU Roctane Energy Gel stands out from original GU Energy Gel with more sodium, an electrolyte that aids in hydration, and even more branched-chain amino acids (leucine, valine, and isoleucine) that reduce mental fatigue and decrease muscle damage than our original GU Energy Gel. The amino acid beta-alanine helps promote formation of the intramuscular buffer carnosine, while ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate helps promote muscle repair. The 100-calorie packets contain carbohydrates (maltodextrin and fructose) that use non-competing pathways to help maximize carbohydrate absorption and utilization while diminishing stomach distress. ELECTROLYTES Maintain water balance and aid in optimum hydration. CARBOHYDRATES Deliver ready-to-use energy and delay bonking by sparing glycogen. AMINO ACIDS Reduce mental fatigue and decrease muscle damage. CAFFEINE Enhances performance by increasing focus and concentration and decreasing perceived effort during exercise. Consume one packet 5 minutes before and one packet every 45 minutes during activity. Wash down with your favorite GU Hydration Drink or water for optimum absorption.

I’m new to energy potions, and love GU Roctane gels. Great flavors and the “energy” is noticeable, without making me jittery. I wish I could try more flavors (Cold Brew, and did I see or dream PSL?), but the local store only carries the most popular ones.Reluctant to use Amazon due to reviews about expiration dates, I ordered 2 boxes, and it took 10 days to arrive. Had to make an emergency run to the store, paying more, to have fuel for a long run. Not happy about the inconvenience and anxiety - almost didn’t realize they were still in transit.Good products!

I was on a mission to try all the Gu flavors. I generally avoid berry flavors because they can easily slip into cough syrup territory, but I was determined to try them all! The Tri Berry (regular Gu) flavor ended up being one of my favorites! But the Blueberry Pomegranate Roctane Gu straight up tastes like medicine. Nasty!

Best tasting of all the Gu. Creamy, just like pudding. Easy to swallow, especially under race conditions.I also liked the easy package opening. Quick without hassles.I've been using GU for over 20 years. It's always getting better, especially Roctane....

Among the cornucopia of deliciousness that is GU, Cold Brew stands out as the best. When palate fatigue kicks in during long efforts, the bitterness of Cold Brew is the antidote that I can always count on. The hit of caffeine is a bonus, too. Highly recommend almost all flavors of Gu -- but especially Cold Brew.
I've been using GU Roctane gels since they first came out around 2009. Over the years my standby flavor has moved from Vanilla Orange, to Cherry Lime, to Strawberry Kiwi, which I've now been regularly using for races and long runs since the flavor debuted. Everyone has their own preference for this type of product. Some like gels with thinner consistency, some with thicker consistency. Some like sweeter products and caffeine, some with less or none of that. But for me GU Roctane gels are what I love. Another part of all GU gels that I appreciate, is the size and shape of the packaging. The more narrow size makes it easier to hold in your hand while you run, almost like how your hand grips something like a pole. I use these packs in .25 doses during hydration breaks on longer days. I store the opened packet in a zipper bag for later use.The effects are noticeable (or not noticeable for that matter) enough for preventing cramps and fatigue. This flavor tastes and looks like a melted version of one of my favorite candy bars. Bonus.
I run 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and have been for the past 22 years now in any conditions. I was working at my local running store when Roctane was introduced in 2009, with just a couple of flavors, and tried it out. Since then, I've been using it for every race and long run that I've done. I run about 25-33 races a year, ranging from 5Ks to about 3 full marathons, and have had a lot of history with Roctane. My go-to for years now is Strawberry Kiwi, but I've also used Pineapple, Cherry Lime, and Orange Vanilla for some extended periods in the past. It's the one product that I make absolutely sure to take with me for any races. Especially if I'm out of the country and unsure as to if I can get it elsewhere. As a general thing, I use regular GU gels for normal distances and daily runs, and Roctane for longer runs and races. It's been a great plan for me.
Still my favorite energy boost on a long run. Small and portable, easy to ingest while actively moving. And of course, effective. I try to eat it just before I start to feel myself hitting a wall, and then I call it my "GU second wind" when it kicks in and helps me make it through the rest of my run. The chocolate flavors tend to be my favorite, but most of the flavors are acceptable at least. The main thing I don't love about GU is that they really can be quite cloying and sticky, which means it takes me a bit to get through one (because it's so thick that I can't breathe through it and have to take multiple bites off it to ensure I can keep running while eating it). Plus, gotta drink a good amount of water after ingesting too, which doesn't always feel great. ... MoreStill my favorite energy boost on a long run. I love these little guys. I've been cycling for years and have gone through most gels, blocks, and bars. But I wish I would have started here first. I use the Roctane Gels exclusively now. I'm a slow digester so I take one about 30 min before rides, then 1 every 30 to 45 min depending on how long I'm heading out. I seriously can feel the an extra little boost when it kicks in. I go further, I go faster, I relax more, I enjoy the ride without the worry of hitting a wall. I do have to use water to rinse these down and help them get in my system better. But all gels are really like that. The ones that don't need extra water don't work as well for me. I highly recommend the Roctane gels. Push harder! Go for it!
First time using Roctane gel. There are days when I need extra caffeine in the AM before a run. The 35 MG gels haven't given me any tummy trouble so that is a huge plus. The Chocolate Coconut has a stronger coconut flavor than I was expecting, but I love coconut, so it's not that big of a deal. Also like that it has a higher sodium content than the regular Gu gels. In the hot Florida summers, the Roctane will be my go-to gels.
