They have a waterproof GORE-TEX liner designed to keep feet dry in different climates. In addition, the patented rubber added to the base of the unit, together with a revamped sole design, achieves the best all-terrain stride to date. Good fit but loose at the ankle

I've been using Saucony's for years and finally decided to make the switch to a shoe that hopefully holds up better for running on trails through mud. It's always been challenging to find shoes that fit my feet which are small at the heel and wider towards the sole. These shoes are overall very comfortable and don't squish my toes together. Unfortunately they are wider at the ankle which doesn't feel great while running, but it's manageable.Running on gravel trails and over muddier, wet footpaths has been fine. They are very stable and so far I haven't slipped. I'm looking forward to taking them hiking on some rockier trails.

Great for long trips and backpacking!

I purchased these with the intention of use for hiking and backpacking. I've been able to use these on several 6+ mile hikes and backpacking trips, and have been so happy with the amount of cushion but also stability in these shoes. The sole is wide enough for some extra traction, but not too big or heavy that they feel cumbersome. The heel shape is perfect to prevent rubbing and I only had one small blister on one of my feet after 16+ miles over 2 days with a 30+ lb pack on, and I likely hadn't tightened the laces enough the first time. They are waterproof (walked through several streams) and easy to wash, I only wish these came in a higher ankle for deeper water! Background: avid runner with narrow feet and high arches. I spend a lot of time on my feet for work ... MoreI purchased these with the intention of use for hiking and backpacking. First of all, these were the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever put on my feet. There was zero comfort and support, and I was shocked at how unpleasant they are to wear. Secondly, upon opening the box I was heavily disappointed - the material looks cheap which I didn't expect for this price point, and the fabric part of the shoes had wrinkles that would not dissipate after unboxing. I considered an exchange in hopes another model would be less unpleasant, then changed my mind and went for a return because I highly doubt the quality will vary much from one shoe to another in the same brand line. I opted for a pair of Brooks, and am happy with that purchase. The good news is, customer service was fantastic and very helpful.

I Would Buy Them Again, Just In A Different Size
6 August 2023

I'm an avid Hoka wearer as my military injuries force me to wear the best quality running shoes I can get my hands on. It's very normal for me to have to replace my running shoes three to four times a year due to the fact that my back is a complete mess. While looking for yet another new pair, I fell in love with a woman's size 10.5 which is the same size I wear in men's sizes. Unfortunately the gamble did not pay off quite as I had hoped it might as they fit properly lengthwise but are to wide and airy in the front half of the shoe. However, I would definitely recommend the shoe to anyone looking for a true quality running shoe just stick to men's or women's as it may apply to you

I love them!

So far I've only used them for shorter distances up to 6 miles. I love how they are waterproof and not stacked as high as my bondis I race in. I was gifted these from Achilles International for winning the Hartford Half in the AWD (athletes with disabilities) division. I always use Hokas and I'm happy to add this to my collection. Ty Hoka you make running as a para athlete that much easier! I also love the color so cars see me! I'm also a pedestrian trauma survivor who was unfortunately hit while running and these colors help me feel that much safer. If you ever need an Hoka One One ambassador let me know haha! You make Amazing shoes!!!! TY for making the best shoes ever!

I would not buy this product again

I now own seven pairs of HOKA shoes, so, clearly I'm invested in this brand. I use my Stinson 6's and Bondi 6's for running. They changed my life. Before finding them I was unable to do any running at all due to severe knee pain but the level of cushioning and ergonomics of these 2 brands allowed me to start running again without the discomfort of all the knee pain during my recovery time. When I saw the newly released Challenger 7 GTX I just had to have them. The vibrant orange just jumped out off the screen and I was in love. The fact that theses shoes also tout plush cushioning was just the cherry on the top. I couldn't wait for them to arrive. I nearly fell on top of the FED EX guy when I saw him coming up the driveway with package. I ripped open the box, put them on and sat with my feet up and marveled at their beauty. Alas, the love affair was short lived and the honeymoon ended abruptly. My first activity in them was a short walk around my neighborhood with my 11year old. By the time I got home I was having slight knee pain. Alarm bells went off. My knees haven't hurt in years and although the pain was mild it gave me pause. Like I said, it was just a short walk around my neighborhood.2 days later I went for my usual run. By the time I was done I could barely walk due to intense knee pain. The pain was in both knees, inner/medial aspect, a place where I haven't had pain before and it was excruciating. I cannot say if the cause is the cushioning of the shoe or the ergonomics or both. I desperately hope that this is not a sign of things to come from HOKA. There is a distinct comfort level disparity between the Challenger GTX and the Bondi and Stinson brands. All shoes that have maximum cushioning.

These shoes make my feet happy! In my line of work, I have struggled finding the right shoe.9-11hr days of being on your feet. In and out of a truck 120-180 times per day, 5-6 days a week.I had recently purchased this shoe in black, in hope's it would provide some comfort on the pads of my feet. It has definitely delivered! By far, the most comfortable shoe I have yet to experience. The green pair are on my wishlist and are next for sure. This particular shoe is brilliant in my opinion and makes it all worthwhile. Big THANKS Hoka!!Treat your feet!

Lovely shoes. Well padded. I had tried a pair from hoka before getting these. I ordered a Uk5 and they're quire snug I wish I'd gone up a half size. Think it's summer feet effect where they get that but bigger in the heat. These shoes are in my opinion suited for gravely trails. I bought them for the new forest/south downs.I have different shoes for road/tarmac and also different trail shoes for mountains/more hilly soft underfoot. They're really padded and tbh quite easy to trip over to begin with because the bottom sticks out quite a bit. They are slippery on white bits on zebra crossings and paint on roads.Really love how they look and they're going to be my trail shoes.Would have ordered the speedgoat but they have been out of my size for a few months ... MoreLovely shoes. i am so upset with this purchase. i work on my feet at a very active/outdoor job that includes rugged terrain and lots of climbing. i had heard nothing but good things about hokas so decided to try these out as my first pair. as soon as i got them i was disappointed. they were not nearly as comfy as everyone made them out to be. they definitely have a lot of support but did not have "plush" comfort in any way. even with my own insoles my feet would ache at the end of a simple 8 hour shift. and i mean ACHE. for DAYS. i got the goretex as well due to the nature of my job but it honestly did not make any difference. i even wore them for a month with the hopes of breaking them in. absolutely no luck, and now i can't even return them. i took a chance on these shoes ... Morei am so upset with this purchase. i work on my feet at a very active/outdoor job that includes rugged terrain and lots of climbing. i had heard nothing but good things about hokas so decided to try these out as my first pair. as soon as i got them i was disappointed. they were not nearly as comfy as everyone made them out to be. they definitely have a lot of support but did not have "plush" comfort in any way. even with my own insoles my feet would ache at the end of a simple 8 hour shift. and i mean ACHE. for DAYS. i got the goretex as well due to the nature of my job but it honestly did not make any difference. i even wore them for a month with the hopes of breaking them in. absolutely no luck, and now i can't even return them. i took a chance on these shoes because i'd heard such amazing things and i'm honestly SO disappointed. they aren't as durable as i was hoping either. and only waterproof for about an hour of rain. after reading the reviews i went a half size up and they fit fine, maybe a little too big (but i KNOW the 8 would've been too small)so if you're thinking of buying these shoes, i would recommend sizing up, and return them right away if you don't like them because they will not get broken in.

like a pair of worn sneakers

I bought the challenger GTX because I wanted a light, waterproof trail runner to use hiking and dog walking in a variety of conditions, and because it comes in interesting colours compared to other GTX models. For years I have bought the speedgoat GTX . I love the vibram that is secure on slippery surfaces, it has a great responsiveness on the trail and pavement, and the waterproof quality lasts for about a year. While the colour is interesting, the Challenger feels very different. It doesn't have the structure of the speedgoat nor the responsiveness. It feels like a worn pair of sneakers, or cheaper sneakers from another brand. The nonvibram sole feels a bit slippery on wet sidewalks. So, I was left thinking that this shoe does not have that great Hoka feel.
