The shoes are super comfortable until you try to walk and your feet feel extremely unstable. The “meta rocker technology” ruins the shoe for me and makes it unstable. Too bad because the shoe itself is comfortable and comes in fun colors.

Super comfortable, as expected from any Hoka shoe. The tongue of the trail shoe (compared to the road shoe like Cliftons or Arahi) is very thin and initially poked into the front of my ankle and caused a small blister. After a few runs, it wasn't an issue. I went 1/2 size up from my usual and it's a good fit. Good traction. Took it out of the box and was immediately able to run 8 miles comfortably.

Awesome fit, great wear. I wear a 8.5 wide and it's a true wide (5 stars for that!)No matter which socks I wear, my feet get hot and stay hot. Not uncomfortable, but yes, the shoes come off quickly!I'm on trails of mostly mulch, cinders and dirt/leaves. Soles are grippy and easy to hose off.

I use the Speedgoat for trail hikes. They work very well on my difficult feet for long wear. Plenty of toe room and even with an ankle support on one foot there is enough room for a good fit. I wore speedgoat for a 140mi walk on The Camino a few years ago and had no problems with my feet. So I go back to them when I need a good trail shoe.
I have been wearing Hoka for a few years. The Speedgoat 5 is one of the best styles Hoka has to offer. The tread grips slippery rocks and sand while not too stiff while running. I will be in a full run down uneven trails and these shoes are agile, supportive and stable. The Speedgoat 5s r a clear upgrade from the 4 (thank u Hoka). My only reason to take off a star is longevity. The support / material under ball of foot starts breaking down at around 100 miles, which isn’t great for an advertised running shoe over $150. I have recommended this style to several fellow hikers (who do slightly less mileage, and all love the speedgoat 5.
I usually wear Brooks but I've heard so many good things about Hoka and the Speedgoat that I had to give them a try.Although the cushioning was the best ever, I simply couldn't get over the thin feeling of the top of the shoe. It just felt flimsy to me on top. I couldn't make the tradeoff there so I'll keep looking.
I love Speedgoat 5's. They are great in the dirt, but I wear around the house too and for walks on the street too. Very comfortable with roomy toe box. Gray green and yellow is pretty.
The Hoka speedgoat 5 is my new favorite trail shoe. Unfortunately Brooks Cascadia, an excellent shoe, doesn't work with my higher arches even with inserts. I tried to make do with Brooks until I discovered the Hoka speedgoat. It's perfect for me. My only wish is that they also made a waterproof version.
These shoes are so comfortable and the color combos are quite pretty. I had to go a full size down to 7.5, my normal 8.5 was humongous! My other Hokas fit true to size but not this style. I walk 20k steps a day on concrete and these have kept my feet comfortable!
