A Nice Primer for Normal to Dry Skin

This Hourglass Primer does a wonderful job of creating a silky smooth base for foundation. It made my makeup look amazingly and it was longer lasting. If you have normal to dry skin that isn’t acne prone and you have no problem with silicones (which can be completely fine for most!) then you should try this primer. I have previously used Hourglass and have loved their products. The packaging is also lovely. I do not always get along with silicones, so I will continue to use the mineral version. I appreciate that Hourglass has options that work well for different people, skin types, and needs. Based on my experience (silicones break me out), I have no issues recommending this, but won’t repurchase.

Great primer

I love Hourglass products and this primer did not disappoint. It's blurring, smoothing and gives my face a beautiful airbrushed effect. Yes it does what it claims to do. Yes it's worth it. Yes it's expensive. But if you're looking for a spot on dupe try Touch in Sol No Poreblem primer. It's more then half the cost. They just launched an even more intense version No Poreblem Hybrid primer which I absolutely am going to purchase.Again love love love Hourglass products but you don't have to spend a lot of coin if you don't want to. That's the great thing about beauty... there are an abundance of options that will suit everyone's needs & wants.

It’s okay.

After a couple weeks use I want to say it didn’t do anything for my skin except mattify it. I used it on my bare skin and it mattified it but did not fill in my pores. Then I applied it on my face and then put foundation over it, I used born this way foundation by two faced and Gorgio Armani luminous silk. I’ll be honest I liked it better by itself. I didn’t try it with a serum or tint but I feel it would be better with such a thing. I like that it doesn’t have color it’s just transparent. It dries down on my oily skin and makes it feel like I put powder over my skin to eliminate shiny spots which is a plus! However it did nothing for my pores with or without foundation. Overall, it was an okay product but super bummed it didn’t fill in my pores.

Made my skin & makeup look worse.

I bought a full size of this one & it did some strange things to my face. It actually seemed to dry around my pores & emphasized them even more, & there were patches on my face that looked like i'd missed putting foundation over them, but after applying more, it was still patchy. Also felt very drying. I've Tried it with my top foundations & both times it did not look good. It was also hard to wash off & left a residue - I had to really wash my face 3 times to get it off. It showed my pores in places more than if id worn no primer. Maybe ic your skin was already very good, it would be ok...but then you wouldnt need a primer. This is not for textured, large pore, or dry skin. My covergirl skin smoothing base business works better. So disappointed to splurge $85 on a primer - & it literally makes my skin look worse. I dont usually write reviews, but get a sample before buying this one!!

My go to.

Kinda regretted getting this after just buying the lancome face primer because I don't need 2 primers, but I pulled the trigger when it came back on stock. And it was the best decision ever. From 7am to 9pm my makeup has been flawless with no touch ups and that just blows my mind. I haven't had a primer ever make it pass the 6 hour mark for me. Considering I have combination skin. I get patchy dry skin around the mouth, forehead and sideburn area. Where as I get super oily around my nose area and it has not budge. And mind you I wear glasses. So I expect some creasing around the bridge of my nose like with my other primers before and that has not happened. If you're still thinking about getting this primer, get it. It is pricey but it is so worth every penny. ... MoreKinda regretted getting this after just buying the lancome face primer because I don't need 2 primers, but I pulled the trigger when it came back on stock. My holy grail
8 January 2023

Love the hourglass vanish airbrush primer. This is my absolute holy grail. I have mature oily skin with enlarged pores and it is amazing. Although it is quite expensive, I tried so many many before this spending alot more money to try and find 'the one'. It does blur pores to an extent but it makes a great canvas (drying very quickly for those in a rush in the morning) and supports with longevity of foundation. My makeup still looks great after a 10-12 hour shift. Can't recommend this enough. It also works with all my foundations. You only need one pump so it lasts quite a long time. This is my 3rd purchase, before this primer I have never bought the same primer twice for over 20 years.

Never Been So Disappointed in a Product

I cannot recall ever being so excited and then so disappointed by a product, y’all. I truly expected to love this primer, and at bare minimum, at least like it. But for me, it is not good.If you have incredibly oily skin, this might work for you if you are targeting an extremely matte makeup look. Outside of that, I cannot recommend anyone try this primer. My skin is on the oily side, albeit arguably becoming more combination as I creep a little closer to my 40s (I’m 35). Applying this primer to my face is honestly difficult. I tried a variety of approaches, including using very little and a lot of product, patting, smoothing, tapping, standing on my head (okay not really but you get the idea here).I even tried multiple foundations because just maybe it was my ... MoreI cannot recall ever being so excited and then so disappointed by a product, y’all. Nope. It’s the primer. When I have used it, my foundation/skin looks dessert-level dry. My makeup looks far from flawless. My pores are somehow more noticeable, my makeup won’t blend at all, it settles in weird places…it’s just not good, y’all.I am so sad I wasted money on this product, and I don’t take giving a 1 star rating lightly. But I want to give people a heads-up so they don’t waste their cash on this, too. Literally any other primer I have tried is better than this one. And that includes cheap drugstore options. Not sure how this primer has such a high review average, but unless I ended up with a mega lemon or a bottle, skip this one. And be glad you did.

Perfection!

I've been using the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Primer for about three months now, and I can safely say that it's one of the best primers I have ever used on my combination skin.It keeps my BareMinerals Complexion Rescue (Gel Cream) on my face all day, and really helps with the oil absorption. I definitely still get some breakthrough oils coming through, but it doesn't really bother me, as this primer does a good job at keeping everything together for me.I've tried it under my eyes, and it wears pretty well, although I think that anything under there has a hard job with my creapy skin in that region!I find that this combined with the rest of my makeup routine really works so well for me, and once the bottle runs out, I'll be replacing for sure.Looking at the ... MoreI've been using the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Primer for about three months now, and I can safely say that it's one of the best primers I have ever used on my combination skin.It keeps my BareMinerals Complexion Rescue (Gel Cream) on my face all day, and really helps with the oil absorption. Special enough for the jumbo size purchase
27 April 2023

I've never found a more perfect primer for my aging, combo skin. I originally bought it after hearing several of my favorite YouTubers rave about it. After swallowing hard at the price, I bought my 1st bottle and fell in love! It blurred my pores, softened my fine lines and wrinkles and made my makeup stay in place, even wearing a mask through my 12+ hour nursing shifts. Since that initial purchase, I've bought this hard-working primer at least 3 times (and just purchased the new jumbo size during the VIB sale). I've tried others (several at a cheaper price point, two in a comparable price range), but nothing else does for me what the Hourglass does and for the amount of wear time it does. As I'm in my mid-50s now, I do make sure I moisturize well under the primer (especially in the cheek area, my driest spots) as it could be drying to the driest of skin types. But for my skin and for my needs, this one has reached HG status. Whether under my BB creams, my Dior Backstage or my newest drugstore favorite foundation, Vanish truly makes my imperfect texture smooth and gives much-improved lasting power to a variety of bases I use.
