Neutral Density filters evenly reduce the amount of light passing thru the lens without effecting color. Ideal for reducing bright light in large aperature situations when a narrow depth is field is needed. Allows for slower shutter speeds when blurring or showing of movement is desired. Allows balancing of exposure to highlight a key subject. Lets you use higher speed films in bright light. Hoya Neutral Density filters are available in most sizes and in three strengths:.3 (2x) Reduces the light one f-stop.6 (4x) Reduces the light two f-stops.9 (8x) Reduces the light three f-stops.

A good basic filter. It would be really difficult to distinguish it from far more expensive filters IMO

Hoya filters are well known to professionals and amateurs alike. This Neutral Density 2 works like sunglasses on the human eye. Glare is reduced and colors become deeper. They are very handy when you need to reduce the amount of light and show certain details, or smooth certain others, depending on your combination of settings. Highly recommended.

A very simple solution for marathon printing sessions. If you want more complex information there are other exposure meter options that would be better suited. If all you want is a base exposure to save on test strips and test printing time- this is a solid start
HOYA HMC Filters are one of the best values you will find on E-bay. Have you seen what these things cost new? The Multi-Coated optics are well made and very effective. I use them for Lens protection, they are built like a tank - very hard to scratch and easy to clean.
Anyone looking at this product is likely looking for a filter that will extend their length of exposure. It serves that purpose well. The colors are good. I bought it specifically for my wide angle lens (28 mm) on my Nikon for fireworks this summer. Living in Utah we have a month of fireworks (the fourth and statehood is on the 24th) and this has enabled me to lengthen my shutter speed and include more bursts with less flare. Works great to offer the ability to lengthen my shutter opening and include a few more bursts. Great pictures will not too much 'clutter' in the shot.
Bought this primarily to protect the automatic lens shutter of a sony camcorder. Past cameras with such shutters have failed due to damage or contamination and I wanted to prevent that.
Worked a treat, just what the lens needed on a sunny day... a few samples from the shoot at Roma gardens with my Canon 70-200 is ll L with the Hoya ND2 filter on it... Made all the difference, cut my post time in half with the filter on to help balance the bright light. A good quality filter is worth it!
It's not a slim frame therefore it can take a beating. I'm replacing a VIVITAR that was destroyed in a strap failure. It had to be cut off but no harm to lens or camera. The coating is easy to clean and resists dirt. Be aware when stacking filters of the increased depth, especially on wide angle lenses.
I use this with my Sony A6000 and 50mm f1.8 lens, in order to take wider aperture pictures in brighter light. The 24.3 sensor doesn't seem to be resolving the light with any noticeable difference other than the obvious darkening effect, which means that this is a solid buy in my book. No ghosting, no softening, just a solid neutral density effect.
