I use this filter regularly for over a year now. The filter is easy to use, but in some cases difficult to remove from the lens, especially from the Nikon 300 PF, because the outer lens rubber ring is a lot bigger and this filter is slim. On that lens the 82 mm CPL is a much better option with the step down ring.This filter has a bit less polarizing effect and slightly more yellow, which I can accept.It attracts dirt and dust, unfortunately. I managed to scratch it somehow with normal use. In a humid environment it's impossible to remove vapor. Need to wait 5-10 minutes to adjust its temperature to do so.

Updated to 4 stars... I was looking for a quality filter for my SLR film camera's that don't break the bank. Despite it being labeled "Digital", which usually denotes it's designed for DSLR's, etc., Hoya's website description for this filter appeared to be of a high quality AR-MC filter. So far shooting with it has been great... now I'm waiting to finish the 2nd roll using it. *******Even though it's a thin filter, I can still clip my lens cap on. Which is a big plus! I was little bit skeptical about this filter since I had no experience with this type of filter.. I got it just before shooting a car show. It removes most of the light, people and other reflections in the surface mostly on the side of the car it is very practical. Saves tone of time on post process editing. How much it can work for you It only depend what under angle to the sun you are shooting....if you are pointing your camera 90 degree to the sun you remove most of the reflections from the photographed subject....and it I mean a lot...if the angle is less than 90...or more than 90...it still removes reflection but the affect of removing ... MoreI bought used filter for half the money of new filter....in excellent condition! At start I thought something was wrong since if a tipical poletizer adds 2 stops down yet this polerizer is much brighter. So then I checked the sky and everythimg was 100% o.k - the polerizing effect is there -- it was polerizing indeed yet with much less degredation in light tranperancy then a catual polerizer filtersince its higher glass quality. Remarkable what those HOYA guys can do. Simply superb circular polerizing filter. Highly Highly recommendm Allso never was disapointed with Hoya - Always got top results . It is the best filter brand out there to my opinion - That is why I prefer Circular filters then swuare ones - since Hoya only makes circular and no squares.
Works well. The glass quality is excellent and comes on & off easily. Compatible with the lens hood included for my Sony 100-400mm/f4.5-5.6. However, it came loose on its own once & fell the floor, but it survived this 2ft drop intact. Blew off the dust & came back on.

For decades, debate was hot and heavy as to whether or not coating was necessary on polarizers, due to the nature of the polarizing film involved. I don't recall the issue ever being settled definitively, but it didn't take the manufacturers long to figure out which version sold best. The majority of photographers were convinced by the marketing departments that coated filters, regardless of their intended function, were superior, and that was pretty much that. This filter is used for about 80% of my outdoor shots, works well with blue skies, reflections, typical polarizer use, and I find that it adds a little pop to my color shots. I have no negative comments about this filter, everyone should have one.I would like to say that I used B&H exclusively for all of my film equipment up until about 15 years ago when I opted for point and shoot digital. My purchase of a DSLR 2 years ago has re-acquainted me with B&H and they are still the folks one would want to do business with. As a professional Watercolor artist I am regularly faced with the need to reproduce my watercolors in digital form for the entry process required for national competition. Because of the nature of transparent watercolor pigment and it's reaction with the sizing in the paper as well as the paper's absorption of water, pigments settle into the tooth of the paper in different ways. Highly pigmented colors settle on the surface and die colors absorb deeper into the paper's core.The result is a irregular surface quality that reflects the various colors very unevenly, making it very difficult to capture the true color and subtle value changes. I mounted on my Canon 6D and Fuji X-T10 and made several shots at Waimanalo beach in Oahu, HI. The results were spectacular. Digital photographers have become so used to using post processing Polarlizing filter effects and so on these days and somehow forgotten what film photography was like. The use of this filter reminded me of good old film photography using Fujichrome Velvia 50 and Kodachrome 25. One thing that has bothered me about the use of polarizing filter on digital camera is that the effect of UV blue effect often came out too strong to muddy the nature photography's color rendition. Hoya has achieved amazing color cleanliness by adding UV filtering element into this wonderful Polarlzer. You will be so pleased that you will not be messing with Photoshop crapping color faking technology any more. Highly recommended!
I always have a Circular Polarizer on my lenses and this did a fine job during a 7 day road trip to several national parks and monuments. Colors and contrasting shadows were rich and distinct, especially during some foggy moments. During a hike around the geysers near old faithful, I fell backwards on the trail. The polarizer took a dent, yet saved my lens glass on my new 70-210mm lens. It was slightly harder to rotate because of my accident, but there were no cracks or blemishes on the filter. And my photographs were not affected.
