A 45kg door advertised door only weighs 30 kg when it arrives. cheap air filled door

I ordered this hume front door. It was advertised as weighing 45 kg and having an stc rating of 29(a rating that tells you how good at blocking sound the door is). The door arrived weighing 30kg. There is no way that lightweight door would block the advertised sound. The door would be so filled with air and cheap product you would easily hear a conversation through it. Weigh your doors people or risk buying cheap product that hume create. Mass equals sound blocking when it comes to solid wooden doors.

Awful

Installed 2 doors. Firstly, paint didn't stick to primer. Secondly, door exposed to weather warped making it impossible to close. Second door (not exposed to weather), warped a few weeks later. A lot of work to replace with little sympathy from bunnings. They accused me of user error!! I've been in the industry for 25 years.

Don't buy this door - not exterior quality despite name and multiple design defects.

So many problems with this product:- The door has no allowance to be trimmed to fit opening - I needed to take 2.5cm off one side and that was the entirety of the wood frame. I had to rebuild the door. I'd have been better off building my own door from scratch.- There is no indication on the door of which side has the additional material for being able to mount the door handles. I was just lucky I pickled the right side.- The tiniest sprinkle of rain has started deteriorating the prime coat already (only been installed for 2 days!).- You have to paint the door to make it exterior rated and have a warranty - this is hidden in the tiniest of small print on a tiny label on the product. The door should come painted enough to be fully weather tight since it is ... MoreSo many problems with this product:- The door has no allowance to be trimmed to fit opening - I needed to take 2.5cm off one side and that was the entirety of the wood frame. That has to be false advertising!

Door warped within weeks.
2 April 2024

Yep,same for me. Door has warped in about 6 weeks since installing. Just like the other reviewer I didn’t read the terms and conditions and I painted it a dark colour.Do not buy. Spend a bit more and get a good door.

Flimsy construction
15 February 2024

No enough wood to mount standard door furniture. The hole drilled for the lock/ handle penetrated the internal cavity. Also Bunnings stored the door vertically. It had a slight warp which meant the door was not a snug fit to the steel frame.

Pity about the surface
10 July 2020

The door itself is fine and the guy from the Grey Army, organised through Bunnings, did a good job of installing it and fitting the handle. But the primer that the manufacturer uses to paint the door is really poor. I couldn't understand why the paint I put on it just kept pulling back and not adhering - green stripes of the primer kept appearing and needing to be painted over again. Came back the next day and there were lots of green stripes showing through again. I thought I must have used the wrong paint, but the guys in the Bunnings paint section said that this happens often and it is a problem with the primer that comes on the doors. Apparently I should have sanded the whole thing down before painting it to give the Weathershield a better surface to grip. The description on the Bunnings website says 'suitable for painting' but they don't tell you that the duracote surface needs to be well sanded before you go near it with paint.

Poor quality
29 July 2023

Have purchased a number of these over years and honestly will just make my own from now on! As other reviews have said they warp very badly. Hung on perfectly square frame I always use 4 hinges for external doors, doubling up at the top of door. Might actually strip this latest one back to see the quality of the pine beneath. I've had a glazed front door from Humedoors that was made out of square, top and bottom rails off by about 5 mm from one side to the other.

Very Basic Hollow Core Door with Miserable Area for Lock Hardware
20 December 2023

This door is a hollow core filled with a honeycomb cardboard filler and faced both sides with about a 3mm sheet of something like masonite. It's not that durable and will definitely need multiple coats of a good paint or sealer to survive. Probably not really suitable for external use. Also, the size of the internal block to mount door hardware is miserably small, seems to only be about 300mm high. This caused me some problems as this was a replacement for a similar door (which had failed) and it turned out I couldn't refit the locks in the same places as these were now in hollow territory. I had to spend quite a bit of time and inconvenience to move the locks and fill old holes. Wished I'd paid a little more and bought a solid core door instead. On the plus side, it's relatively lightweight and can be transported and moved by one person.

Very disappointing
4 March 2020

I purchased this external door and had a builder install it the day after picking it up. It was painted immdiately with quality undercoat and paint from my specialist paint store, Within five days, the door warped in two directions, so much so that it prohibited the deadlock from opening through pressure applid to the striker through the warped shape. I would not recommend this door and am completely disappointed with the outcome. I am concerned if this is what has happened within a short period of time. The overall cost of the door, good quality hinges and deadlock, plus the cost of a builder to properly install a new doorframe and the door, far outweigh what I have ended up with.

Cheap for a reason. I Installed this door for a friend on their granny flat. coated it with waterproofing paint as it was going to be exposed to the elements. Even so the door began to warp within 2 months and after 4 months it had warped to badly that it actually forced itself off the hinges. The bow is around 10cm so very extreme and beyond straightening out. For this reason I can't recommend this door for external applications. You get what you pay for.
