I spent a good amount of time reading reviews and trying to find before and after pics because I was nervous about the color but I genuinely feel like I look just like I did when I spent $300 to get this color last fall (3rd pic) — 1st pic is before and 2nd pic with red sweater is after. I had used a different copper semi perm color conditioner on my highlighted hair and after it faded it just left my blonde looking brassy and tired and I wanted to go darker for the cooler months. I was nervous it would be too dark but went for the dry application anyways. Left it on for about 12 min once fully applied. I would say on me it did seem to apply just one shade even though I had lighter hair on top — I don’t see a difference between the bottom layers and the top layers, even though per the strand chart they show it should go on lighter on lighter hair. Just a warning for y’all lighter blondes, this might turn you full chocolate. Also, I have a lot of hair and it’s long and thick, and I used the whole bottle — short/thin haired girlies might be able to get away with 2 uses per bottle.

I cannot say enough good things about this mask. I have highlights in my dark brown hair that I like to be just a bit lighter than my all over color so theres some dimension. After a visit to the salon they look great but start fading to a bronze orange color quickly. I maybe had 2-3 weeks that they looked good and then I started thinking there must be something that can deposit some color while not being too hard for me to do at home. I didn’t want to actually dye them and run the risk of ruining my hair (being that I spend a lot on it!) so I googled and found this mask! I was nervous at first but I just went for it and put it all over my entire head of hair. TIPS ON USE: nobody mentioned if they washed hair after application so I wasn’t sure. I ended up just putting it on dry hair for 10 mins and then I RINSED ONLY and didn’t actually shampoo my hair or condition etc. My hair came out perfect. If you do this on a wash day I would say you could probably use shampoo on just your roots if needed but really I didn’t even need to.

The colours I tried washed out in just one wash but that didn't bother me as they were soft tints. I highly recommend if you need a hair mask and would like to tone/tint your hair. Can't speak for the vibrant colours but I imagine they would be a good option for those with hair already brightly coloured to help maintain colour between salon visits.

Great Product!

After searching for a while for a beige or champagne toned temporary color conditioner, I found this one on a Google search . I'm a senior with natural medium ash graying hair, most of the front white, but the rest not, so I've been having it highlighted heavily basically to add more white! I love that now, but when I want to tone it I don't want it to be too cool, I want more of an ivory tone, which works better with my skin. At first I was led to A La Plage, but decided on Cali Cali, a bit lighter and beige - received it yesterday and used it this morning , on shampooed wrung out hair, and only left it on a minute or two - and it really did what I hoped! It toned the highlighted and the natural white in my hair, blending it all in with lovely tones, I'm really ... MoreAfter searching for a while for a beige or champagne toned temporary color conditioner, I found this one on a Google search . I'm doubly pleased because some products I've used made my hair too grayish, and cloudy looking, lacking shine - if you only leave this on a couple of minutes as a conditioner you get that transparent color enhancemen - it actually looks really natural. My daughter's a salon owner and I'm going to tell her about it.

More Pennywise than Copper Penny

(pictures lean orange, it's much redder) I am so upset that I bought this garbage. I now have fake Ronald MacDonald red hair... I have natural chestnut hair with professional balayage highlights. The highlights were a carmelish color, but when they faded I used a color depositing conditioner from Philip Pelusi (chocolate wildberry) this turned my highlights a pleasant warm copper color with just a slight strawberry hint. I loved it, but I had to use it at every wash. I decided to get this (the color in the photos is almost exactly what I was getting from the toning conditioner, maybe just slightly more orange) to see if it might last longer. It also dried my hair out horribly (the IGK Good Behavior spray didn't help at all, so now I have a bunch of silicone in my naturally curly hair for nothing). It gave me a knot in my hair so bad I had to cut it out. In all my adult life, even when I colored regularly and had super damaged hair (it's very healthy now) I have never had a knot this bad. I will never buy IGK products again.

First of all it dyes your whole tube. I was scrubbing with bleach to get it all out. Still bits leftover so hopefully that comes out overtime since this depositing mask washed out of my hair almost immediately. Dyes your skin too when youre in the shower for the first time. It was almost impossible to avoid. I got the color moon dance (blue black). Ive used a blue black semi permanent dye before, not this brand, and loved it. I get this is a depositing mask so its less than semi permanent I guess. I would say on the 3rd wash which is kind of like the 2nd if you don’t count the initial wash. So anyways my hair is now brown with tints of dark blue in the light and nearly no black anywhere. From the first dye it was black and some dark blue and it wasn’t too bad. On the money is NOT copper
9 March 2024

I’ve been coloring my hair a soft/muted coppery color for a few months, my base was platinum and I wanted to stop bleaching my hair. It’s colored to match my natural level 7ish roots, just warmed up a bit so I had a filled base to start with. Because my hair is bleached underneath, the toner doesn’t stick around very long and I didn’t want to tone it every 4 weeks so I thought this would be a good in between. Wrong. On the money is advertised as a a fiery copper, what I got was almost burgundy and I felt like the little mermaid for almost a week. It’s now faded to the color I thought it would be but I’ll never use the mask again. It stained my tub, my scalp, and my towels for 5 washes. I shampooed upwards of 6 times in cool water trying to get the residual color out and for 4 showers I saw orange dye in my shampoo/water. I really like IGK and have never tried a product I didn’t love until this one. Maybe the other colors are better but this was a huge miss and waste of $25

Some colors work great and some not so much
29 July 2024

We’ve used strawberry milkshake, Cyber Tokyo, Pink 2000, Dreams come Blue and they all worked about as expected. Maybe would have liked a little more pigment with pink 2000. Took away a star because fortune teller was a waste of money. I have highlighted blonde hair and was hoping to have highlights in the lavender color as pictured. Most highlights had minimal to no change and the areas where I used a heavy amount of product (in total I would say I used at least 3/4 of bottle for my slightly past shoulder length hair) the color came out a steely blue to almost green color instead of lavender. I will keep buying other colors but won’t do the fortune teller again.

Sort of ruined my hair
21 July 2024

I had really pretty ringlets and curlies in my hair before I used this product. Not only that but you should know that if you don't have pre-processed hair, it might not take. It did well at dying my ends but it didn't touch a SINGLE strand of my brown hair. So now I have ginger ends, oh and FYI the ends are more red than orange. NOT AT ALL copper penny. If it were copper penny, I wouldn't be as upset. But it's not. It's more of an auburn/burgundy color and while that's perfectly lovely, that's not what I wanted. And it didn't take at all to my roots, like I said earlier, so I'm walking around with ruined hair. My hair texture changed as well so all in all, I really disliked this product.

I like to do my own hair to afford the color I want to achieve. I had previous brassy balayage on medium/dark brown hair. I also had a lot of permanent color and different tones. Natural ashy Roots, grays, permanent reddish medium brown , and the grown out brassy blonde, that was done unevenly at the aveda salon. I would have just used any brown, but I love the fashion forward style of igk and that is why I trust them to choose the right shade of brown to color my hair! I want it to look trendy and cute, not just be a mousy brown which I was told I have :( I am really happy to say the mask has evened out all of the tones in my hair to one tone (with the exception of a few grays) 38 yrs old, <25% gray, porous, color treated, dry, frizzy, unmanageable thick hair. I used one full bottle for my hair and had to use a little bit of water to spread it evenly. It stained my sink, wall, and a little bit on my skin. Smell and texture during use was “not rancid” as I described to my husband. The texture during use was not buttery like a regular hair mask but felt very very dry and tangly. It felt buttery once I rinsed it. It was a little difficult to brush it afterwards as well. Overall I will be repurchasing depending on how it looks when dry, and how well it covered all of the different lighter tones.
