Difference between flush and surface mount? Flush Mount - Requires a hole to be cut into the ceiling approximately 10mm smaller then the actual size of the light. This allows the light panel to sit flush with the ceiling and the hole edge is covered by the white trim around the edge of the light panel. Surface Mount - The light panel sits below the ceiling by about 10mm. Mostly used on concrete ceilings in multi storey buildings or where there is no ceiling cavity. The light panel outside trim has screw holes pre drilled for attaching the light to the ceiling.
