K2 Maysis Wide Snowboard Boots - Black - 2024

The Maysis was designed to perform like a workhorse and fit like a glove and its feature-forward design has it ranked as a perennial bestseller. The 2025 K2 Maysis Wide Snowboard Boot features a last and a shell that are 7mm wider than a traditional snowboard boot. Its success starts with a heat-moldable liner made of open-cell Intuition foam - allowing the liner to form to the exact shape of your leg ankle and foot for superior fit warmth and comfort. The secret to the award-winning fit is the Conda liner lacing system. Powered by a BOA Fit System dial this forgiving and adjustable harness is designed to pull the users heel into the boots heel pocket. This urethane-based harness hugs your ankle and flexes naturally. Externally designers started with an articulating cuff to reduce distortion when bending the knee and added an abrasion-resistant rubber compound for unrelenting durability. A high-powered BOA Fit System H4 Coiler closes the shell securely and can be done without ever removing your gloves. Lastly to add durability and maintain the boots flex over the boots lifetime the Maysis is designed using Endo technology. Underfoot premium materials improve damping and grip. The outsole is built using proprietary This Grips dual-rubber compound to provide excellent grip both on and off the snow. This is all set atop a dual-density midsole comprised of a lightweight EVA and proprietary Harshmellow designed to dampen vibration on rough terrain and cushion big landings.

BOA broke on day 1

Bought this boot and on day one the boa broke. Reached out to K2 for a refund and they only offered to send a replacement. I agreed, they sent a replacement, it was a different boot & it did not fit. Consequently, had to get rentals for my multi-day snowboarding trip (they didn't care). Now after two weeks they tell me they don't have the correct boot that I ordered and it is out of stock. Long story short, I am very frustrated with this company and won't recommend them to anyone. I would agree with many others here in these reviews that K2 has poor customer service and their products are not built as advertised. Why would a boa break on day one? I'm not the only person who had a boa break in these reviews.

Rocked these boots for 7 years of about 10/15 days a year, first on the ice coast and now in the lovely sierras. Loved them to the point that I even considered getting them again just that the single exterior boa felt like it was not right at those moments when my toes went numb. In order to tighten one would have to put pressure to the cuff, tighten the boa, put foot in binding & ratchet and then release and readjust the pressure on the boa. I found this way I could reduce pain in my toes. The plus is that the interior boa controls a harness that I usually release on the chairlift for a more comfortable uphill ride along with one or 2 point on the ankle strap. I will still keep em for those early season days on my beater old heavy flow bindings twin burton 7 deck. Its worth mentioning that by resting the board on the binding the stiches broke and I was able to fix it by sewing it with fishing line and a binder clip on top along with marine glue, no problems since and the lifetime extended by 2 seasons!

I originally went to a shop that tried to get me into the K2 Maysis, but the non-wide version, as they did not have any wide in stock. Thought something was wrong. Then I watched a video that said take the liner out of the boot and foot should not touch the insides of the boot when standing up. Without the liner in, sides were totally touching almost like wearing a normal shoe. Ordered the Wide version from Evo. Perfect! Sides of foot were not touching without liner. Returned the non-wide versions back to the other vendor and glad I did. Great boot : Easy to get in and out, comfortable, keeps feet warm. Just enough stiffness to make riding fun, but still stay comfortable all day.

Great for all Mountain Riding

Bought these before last season. I only rode 7 days on them (aspen, A-base, Copper) but am satisfied so far. Much stiffer than my old DC boots and fit extremely well. I initially ordered an 11, returned and got a 10.5 instead. Go off your mondo size and not shoe size. Heat molded them and they fit like a glove.

Large accomodating toe box
5 March 2023

I've had a few hundred days on hill over the years and have probably owned around 6-8 boots over the last 25 years. In middle age, one of my big toes has a couple issues (gout, start of bunion) that results in the big toe needing a really roomy toe box. I tried out a few wide boots, and the K2 Maysis Wide had the biggest / tallest toe box. For those seeking an expansive toe box, this boot was the best option for me personally.Only drawback of the boot for me is that I was getting some ankle rubbing from the liner design during breaking in phase. (The liner is thin by design where the ankle bone rests in the liner) My work around there was to wear a neoprene ankle wrap while breaking in the boot.

Not So Nice
5 February 2018

I got a whole new setup this year and I was really looking forward to shredding in my brand new Maysis boots on the mountain. The overall fit was good, and I feel like the overall design is pretty good, but they dug into the inside of my ankle on my lead foot. After a couple hours I was stopping to adjust them at the bottom of every run, in hopes that I just needed to find the right setting. Within a few hours I had to call it a day because my ankle was in so much pain. The second time I went up, I started out with the liner strap in a different position, and the same thing happened. I spent half my day trying to figure out the right combination, then once the pain got too severe, I changed into my old boots and finished out the day in them. I spent half my day trying to figure out the right combination, then once the pain got too severe, I changed into my old boots and finished out the day in them. My third time up, I didn't even bother bringing them.I wrote K2 with an explanation and description of the issue, and they got back to me after two weeks with a stock answer about a break-in period, and told me to get the boots checked for defects. So I went back to Evo and had them checked for defects, and there were none. I had originally thought that the problem lay in the liner strap, but the employee there told me it could be an issue with the liner vents. There's basically a chunk missing from the liner in the Maysis boots, right around the spot where I was experiencing the most discomfort, so I'm thinking that might be the engineering flaw.Either way, neither Evo nor K2 have offered to make it right yet. I'm hoping one of them does the right thing, because I paid full price for these boots and they're just sitting there collecting dust now, after two half-days on the mountain, while my 12 year old boots are tearing it up like they always have.

Strange sizing, packs out a ton
23 January 2021

I did a lot of research before buying these boots. In fact, I bought 4 different sizes to ensure I sized them properly since many reviews mentioned they run a bit large. Ridden them for 2 days now.First, these boots either run true to size or slightly large. I wear a size 11 tennis shoe and the 11s were too big for me. 10.5 is what I ended up using. Fit seemed good; toes brushing the end of the boot, no heel lift.Second, I will echo what another review said regarding fit. After a few hours my feet started getting numb, especially the pinky toe on my front foot. Loosening the boas restored feeling at the cost of control. I found myself tightening and loosening the boas all day looking for a sweet spot that I never really found. The second day, the boots had packed out significantly (as expected). But instead of a relaxed but still good fit, what I got was huge heel lift and really too much room in the boot. Control was significantly decreased and packing out did not help the issues with numbness at all; tightening the system to take up the additional slack just made it worse.I suppose it is possible that I should have gone with the size 10 but those feel too snug trying on. Either these boots are just not for me, or they pack out WAY more than most boots do. It is bad enough that I'm going to look at other brands now, I don't want to use them again.Giving it 3 stars since it's possible these boots just pack out a ridiculous amount and you need to get a full size lower than your mondo indicates. DEFINITELY try these boots on before you take the tags off, and if you're on the fence about the size then go a half size lower.Regarding build quality, while the boots are 100% functional after 2 days of riding I'm seeing significant wear in them already. Pictured is the left boot which I use to support my board on lifts; the edge of my board has clearly worn the material much faster than I had expected. Every other part of the boot looks new.

Takes some time to get used to
10 October 2023

This is a good boot but it takes a lot of time to break in and in doing so it will probably hurt especially if you have a Morton's toe (second toe longer than big toe). It got to the point where I got skiers toe after some time in Japan. After that break in though, it fits really well. Even better is that it fits wider calves. It also has great support and warmth. The boa system tightening the inner boot is also very convenient. Just make sure to get this heat molded and go easy in the beginning

Well made, stiff, boa... All I need.
2 December 2022

This is my fifth season working at a ski area, I'm in my boots at least half of the week. Fit and durability are very important to me. Standard K2's are about the widest boot you can find until looking at "wide" specific boots. For my foot this is the perfect width, though I did need to get a different pair of insoles so my feet didn't splay out as much. They feel on the stiffer side of medium-stiff and the construction looks and feels very durable and rigid, so I trust they won't lose their stiffer feel for a while. The double boa is so convenient! Especially for quickly loosening them up before getting on the chairlift and while hiking / split boarding. This really comes in handy during the break-in period, not having to constantly re-tie when new boots are killing your feet! Pay attention to the ankle boa as it tightens around your liner, it likes to go between the velcro on the liner and make a pressure point on the front of your ankle. This is a great boot, and I recommend it if it fits your foot. I highly encourage having a boot fitter size you up and tell you what boot is meant for you, it's the most important part!

Would not Recommend
8 April 2024

I bought this brand new from REI online for a 2 1/2 day Snowboard trip. The first day I used them, they felt great. Nice fitting and responsive. However on the 2nd day, I road off a chairlift and sat down to strap in for a run, and I looked down to find that the circular Boa fastener popped off sometime during the ride on the chairlift or who knows when. The only thing that kept the fastener from not getting lost in the snow was the string that's used to tighten the boot. On top of that, after examining the boot for wear after our trip, the boot material that makes contact with the snow was already peeling off. A Snowboard boot at this price should not be wearing and breaking at this rate. Unfortunately I would not recommend this product.
