I have very wide feet, so these are some of the only in-stock shoes that fit. Unfortunately, they started to wear out in less than a month with only daily walks on sidewalks. Within 6 weeks, with zero terrain and no strenuous activity, I've lost most of the tread and the material in the heels is coming apart. Great waterproofing, good fit, but poor ventilation and issues with materials or build quality.

I’ve owned keens for the last 10 plus years and love them. I have wide flat feet am they fit great. The last two pairs have failed to last more than 6-9 months where others lasted 3-5 years. I just walk in them and do a bit of light hiking. The soles are separating from the leather upper again. I’m looking elsewhere now and not pleased because they are not cheap. Seems price increased and quality dropped dramatically.

Im not sure how many pairs of these shoes I have had over the years and I have always been very happy with them up until now. The only reason I gave them a three in this review is that the adhesive holding the soles to the uppers has been failing. I have a second pair that has done the same thing. The problem seems to be concentrated around the heel and instep area. I get that shoes are no longer built to last forever, but both of my last pairs have started to delaminate within less than a year of purchase. On the positive side, the uppers seem to last all most for ever and they are very comfortable and fit well.

Nice shoes. I bought a pair of Keens last year and had to go up a half size. I did the same with these and had to return them and get a full size bigger. They were comfortable right out of the box and work well. I have been breaking them in slowly to play it safe, but so far so good. Definitely get at least a half size larger.
I purchased 3 different pairs of hikers prior to hiking the Grand Canyon this past fall. After break-in of all 3, I decided to hike with a pair of Merrells due to the weight, lower heat inside the toe box, and the more agressive Vibram bottoms. However, it was a toss up with the Keen Kovens and the Targhee II's. The Targhee II's are great hikers especially for the cooler and messier days. The toe box is warmer than I like for the summer, but perfect for late fall, winter, and early spring. On initial purchase the Targhee II's were a little snug with my Darn Tough hiking socks. If you are planning to hike make sure you take your socks with you and try them on with the shoes. I usually take a wider shoe (2E) and went with a regular 10 in the Targhee II's and Kovens. ... I have found that as these break in they get more comfortable. They have a wider toe box than some. Keen only offers a wide in the the Targhee II mids. If you take a 4E the Mid will be a better fit - sorry your out of luck with the lows. The Keen dry system works well in moisture control and are waterproof. The Keen bottoms are solid and wear well. However, they are not as slip proof as the Vibram bottoms. May your shoe shopping be filled with great success!
I’ve been wearing Keen tarhgee mid and low hikers for several years as I find they fit my wide feet quite nicely and work well for walking/light hiking / yard work. In the past, for waterproof shoes, I’ve chosen at targhee 3. This is the first time I’ve tried to targhee 2. In comparing the two shoes the wide toebox and overall fit seems to be about the same. The “3s” appear to be a bit more waterproof by design with a less aggressive tread. While I have not fully tested them, I recently walked in the “2s” in a reasonable rain shower and did not have any problems but I do typically apply nikwax waterproofing to all my boots. The “2s” seem to breathe a bit better than the “3s”. I’ll probably go with the “2s” in the future. Happy hiking!!
I've worn the Targhee II since it came out and loved everything about it--until now. The new pair is not only not waterproof, a walk through wet grass leaves your feet soaked. The fit is great. They're comfortable, They wear well. But the lack of water resistance means I won't be getting them again.
Well constructed agessive hiking/walking shoe. I’m having trouble breaking in the shoe. Problem is in the toe area of my larger foot. Shoe is not nearly as comfortable as my first pair of keen shoes. - probably due to the cramped toe area. Shoe should be .5cm larger
My third pair. I replace them after about 1400 miles (roughly a year) of moderate trail hiking. I live in the pacific northwest, and I am primarily a day hiker. The waterproof feature, comfort (never had a blister), and durability are the features that keep me buying the same brand/model. I experimented with numerous brands and models but never found one that had all the features I wanted until I found the Keen Targee II. I plan on using them as long as they are available.
I buy these because they are comfortable. If your concerned about longevity or quality then these aren't for you. I buy 2 pairs a year as they start to delaminate in about 2 months. If you wear them inside then most likely few problems. If you want a good looking comfortable "hiker" then you wont be disappointed. Thinking you could depend on them for more then a few months then keep looking. Warranty department is great. Every pair i get a free replacement in 6 months as they are very bad by that time frame
