Best shoe i have ever worn

Keens have become my go to shoe. I’ve had foot problems for years. Had surgery on both feet and Keens are the only thing that don’t hurt my feet. I use the Targhee II’s for work and for leisure and i use the Newport sandals in the summertime, and couldn’t be happier. The comfort is amazing and the build quality is second to none. The customer service I have received from Keen has always been top notch. The Keen brand really cares about their customers and want to make sure they retain you as a customer for life, which they have. Quite simply, Keens are the best I have found. I will definitely be buying more Keens in the future and would highly recommend them.

I hike mostly over very rocky, steep terrain and needed to replace a wonderful pair of hiking shoes that unfortunately are no longer available. I opted for Keens based on their terrific look and very positive feedback from hikers who don't shy away from grueling trails. I couldn't be more satisfied with the Targhee 2s that are now my daily shoes, they are that comfortable. They only needed a minimal break in period. I also bought a pair of Targhee 3s to rotate which are a bit lighter but seem just as well made. I'm very happy I found these Keens and expect many years of enjoyable outdoor adventures with them.

Comfy, but heel is loose in the wide width

I've been wearing my new Targhee IIs regularly, in the woods and around town. My orthotic inserts replaced the nicely scupted foam insoles. With either pair of insoles, my heels have almost no contact with the back of the shoes. While this presumably helps to prevent heel blisters, I do not feel that the heel is "locked in" as stated in the Targhee video. They almost feel like flip-flops, to the point where I feel that a shoe might come right off of my foot if I jammed my shoe between rocks. The more I wear them the less worried I am, but break-in and tight laces have not changed the fit. Otherwise, the shoes are comfortable, waterproof so far, and ruggedly cool-looking IMHO. Delamination of Sole
19 April 2024

Comfy shoe, looks cool, works with orthotic insoles, waterproof to a point because of low ankle. Big problem with the outsole, which peeled away from the inner layer of the sole. The loose piece catches and folds unexpectedly due to the sticky rubber. This happened within two months of purchase, without harsh treatment. No shoe at this price range should fail this early. I will attempt to repair with shoe goo, but I don't expect it to fix the problem for any length of time.

Falling apart after 2 months. Safety issue.
19 September 2024

This is by far the worst pair of Keen I've owned. The main issue is with the foam like material between the rubber sole and the leather upper. As you can see in the provided photos the rubber sole started to separate from the foam like material after only a couple months of use. Additionally this material is also on parts of the bottom of the shoe allowing sharp objects to easily puncture the shoe. This can be seen in the recent photo I took of a stick that could've easily punctured my foot. I wouldn't recommend these shoes out of concern for the safety of the wearer.

Love your shoes
11 June 2024

I'm on my feet in the out doors aproximately 8+ hours a day, since i have purchased my keens I found them to be more than just a nice looking shoe but comfortable as well. Not to mention waterproof and rugged. I wore my last pair for at least two to three years before they wore out. When i went looking foe shoes I bought a different brand just out out of convenience, assuming they are all the same but I was wrong, they only lasted maybe 6 months, so sought out the Keen brand and am not disappointed. I will be sticking with Keen as long I am walking out doors. Thanks for making a great outdoor hiking shoe.

Not many options for those with 5 toes on each foot
4 January 2024

The Targhee II wide is one of three “waterproof” low hikers on the market with a toe box designed for human feet. The other two (from Altra and Topo Athletic) while shaped well, have all the durability of wet facial tissue, and are built for the running mindset of “I’ll just buy new shoes every 3 months”.This leaves the Targhee II wide as the only hiking platform-based low, waterproof shoe. They’re comfortable with a nice toe box but sizes jump considerably even between half sizes. 11-1/2s and my toes were jammed up against the bumper, size 12s and my feet are swimming in there. So ultimately these are a winter shoe for me as they require thick socks.Durability seems above average and there is a nice combination of support and cushion when navigating technical ... MoreThe Targhee II wide is one of three “waterproof” low hikers on the market with a toe box designed for human feet. Rubber sole does not stay attached
2 September 2024

I've been in Keen hiking boots and shoes for 8 years. My only complaint is the sole does not stay attached to the shoe. The multi-layered rubber (the black part) breaks free from the base layer. Also, 1/2 sizes all the way up would be nice. 12 is too small, 13 is too big. The shoe runs wide. These shoes are 2 years old; soles started separating soon after the one-year mark. I have reglued and separated again.

Shoe was OK. I didn't like the return policy
7 December 2023

I have plantar fasciitis, and have a few hiking trips that I'm planning for. I researched online, and found positive reviews for the KEEN Targhee II and the HOKA Kaha 2, so I purchased both of them to compare.Unfortunately for KEEN, I decided to go with the HOKAs. However, also note that the HOKAs are significantly more expensive. When walking in the Targhees, the top of the shoe pushed down on the front of the foot when I lifted my heel. At the same time, I felt the cushioning was unbalanced and felt more pressure on the ball of the feet.In my 3-mile test walk, I averaged 19 minutes, 27 seconds per mile with the KEEN and 18 minutes, 20 seconds per mile with the HOKAs (see the images of my Apple Fitness records)I would give the shoes a 3-star rating. The reason ... MoreI have plantar fasciitis, and have a few hiking trips that I'm planning for. They do clearly state that shipping for returns from Hawaii need to be paid for by the customer, but I still don't like it.

Targhee ll! And more
23 March 2024

Love the Targhee ll’s. I play a lot of disc golf and they have quite a bit of grip on the tee pad which is essential on rainy days. Played a round today with my new Targhee’s fully submerged in the water for a shot and my socks are completely dry! I have bought multiple pairs of them over the past 6+ years and they never disappoint… until I puncture a hole in them - always somehow self-inflicted.On this same order I chose two pairs of Sparta 2 ESD (soft toe) that I also wear/order often for work. One size 9 M($110) and one size 11 W (9.5 M, $55) just to compare if they were the same shoe/size/style, which they are! I have only worn the 11 W and they fit fine. I would like to find out how to send the men’s 9 back.I am also looking for something with a little more ... MoreLove the Targhee ll’s.
