This is my first pair of Keen's. For years, I've bought Merrell. The first order was 1/2 size too large! I'm always a size 11, but a 10.5 fits me well as these are roomy shoes, around the toe box and heel (I'm tall and thin). Now that I finally have the correct size I've been using them for a few days in the woods, climbing log piles, going up and down slopes, walking in wet grass etc. They weren't super comfy straight out of the box, but the ankle area softened fairly quickly and are now comfortable, I'm optimistic that these are going to be a good choice. So far they're completely waterproof. As my friend pointed out these are 'a step down from a hiking shoe rather than a step up from a trainer' i.e. they're pretty robust, you'll need to break them in a little bit ... MoreThis is my first pair of Keen's. They're likely my everyday shoe, but I'll see how that works out.

These are my go-to hikers when the trail is rocky, and/or wet and muddy. They are super comfortable, have a short break-in period, and excellent toe protection from rocks and roots. I put an amazing 1,300 miles on my last pair (Targhee II Vented) before retiring them from hiking, although I still use them as gardening shoes. I have about 400 miles on my current waterproof pair and they are holding up equally well, as you can see from the photos. I typically wear a medium-weight sock and a shoe size of 10.5, but size down to a 10 on these and still have plenty of width and toe space without my foot sliding forward on the downhills. I have noticed a slight trend towards making them a little more âsporty,â and I hope Keen doesnât take that trend too far. The Targheeâs niche as I see it is a medium weight hiker that gives great foot support and protection, and is sold at a reasonable price. NOTE: I wanted to rate these shoes as 5 stars, but the website wouldnât allow me to go higher than 4. đ

I wanted to get another pair of boots for my volunteer work with USFS and just general wear. I'm on my second pair of Arroyo lll sandals, so I anticipated no issues with the fit. I was right. They felt good out of the box. Plenty of toe room and support for my feet. I'm confident that the traction will suit my needs. Do I need waterproof boots in the desert? Yes, they are practical for my purposes. My biggest issue was choosing a color! Sheesh! I have another brand of waterproof boots that do the job, but KEEN gives me that extra bit of comfort. It's the difference between yanking your boots off right away versus forgetting that you are wearing them.

I have been wearing Keens for several years. They are great for my plantar fasciitis; about the only shoes I can wear without my feet hurting. If I try Merrel's, my feet act up. My biggest complaint is the amount of wear I get out of a pair. My last pair was purchased in late February 2023, it is now the end of July, and I am already looking at a replacement pair as the heals have worn out. The outer sole is completely worn through on the heals. I wear these shoes on a daily basis with daily walks on a combination of paved and unpaved trails along with normal daily life. The uppers have held up well but I need to find another replacement already. I really like the shoes but just last the soles lasted longer. With my feet issues I am very hesitant to try anything ... MoreI have been wearing Keens for several years. The Targhee III have been fantastics shoes as my every day shoe, as well as for moderate hiking. I like them so much, that I purchased another pair 8-months ago to replace my prior worn out pair. However, the new pair began hurting my feet soon after receiving. I didn't have to break in my first pair, but gave this pair some time and good use. Unfortunately, things didn't improve. The shoes felt less supportive and still cause soreness, particularly after more strenuous activities. On top of that, my feet really started to smell after using these shoes. didn't have this issue previously or even with other current shoes. I contacted customer service and asked if any changes were made to the Targhee III's since it's introduction. The rep indicated that there were no changes to the shoe, but that they changed to a plant-based insole. The rep indicated that there had been other customer complaints about this insole being less supportive. The rep suggested "trying our K-20 Cushioned insole as that one will be a bite more supportive and cushioned like the old style." Considering multiple complaints about the insole, I figured a complimentary replacement insole would be appropriate, but the rep would not honor a free replacement of the insoles. Still great shoes, but disappointed that I have to drop another $25 for replacement insoles.
This will be my 3rd pair of these shoes. Extremely comfortable, easy to clean up, waterproof for those muddy days. I wear them for just about everything. Hiking, running errands, working outside, etc. The first pair lasted me 8 years and to be honest are still wearable just lost traction and worn around the heel. The 2nd pair the rubber started to delaminate from the shoe after about 2 years. Not sure if that is standard now or I just got a bad pair. I probably could have super glued the rubber back to the sole and continued to wear but I decided to try another pair. Hoping the quality of construction and durability matches the first pair I had.
This is my first purchase of a KEEN boot. Now, I am not a hiker, but like to wear a waterproof shoe during winters here in upstate New York. At 71 years old I appreciate a solid grip in icy conditions and dry feet in snow and slush. These KEENs deliver! My go-to shoe the past few years has been the WP MOAB by Merrell. Recently, a local store had these KEEN boots on sale, so I gave them a try. Unfortunately, my size was not in stock. However, I was very impressed by the initial comfort (even a 1/2 size smaller than usual), features, materials, construction and attention to detail in the Targhee IIIs. The price direct from KEEN was actually lower than the local store offered, so I made out great ordering from them online. The price direct from KEEN was actually lower than the local store offered, so I made out great ordering from them online. Shipping was quick and the shoes arrived in perfect condition. I find them to be a very good fit (size 12D), with plenty of room even wearing thick winter socks. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Targhee IIIs and definitely find them more comfortable than my pair of Merrell MOABs. I enjoy wearing the KEEN Targhee IIIs and so far they are exceeding my expectations.
I didn't like these anywhere near as much as I love my Targhee II's. They look nice but they are nowhere even remotely close to being as comfortable. It's like they're made by a different company or something. But the biggest flaw that caused me to return them was how your foot is positioned over top of the sole. It's offset to the inside, meaning your feet are not centered over the sole. Simple extrapolation shows that over time this will settle, or sag, and you will eventually end up stepping down partially on the side of the shoe with only the the inside edge of the sole hitting the ground. Do yourself a huge favor and order the Targhee II's instead they are totally amazing shoes.
This was the third pair of shoes I received when trying to replace an old pair of Targhee II's that have served me well for years. Unfortunately the 2 pairs of Targhee II's that were ordered online had very stiff foam around the ankle that caused a "hot spot" on hikes, prompting me to return them. I tried on the Targhee mid III's in a resellers store and thought they would be a good solution since I was spending more money sending the products back and they didn't have the high ankle foam. When I received the Targhee mid III's they seemed to fit large (sigh). I only wear them to do yard work now and have noticed the toe piece is starting to come unglued after only a couple months and not much wear and tear. Fortunately, I still have my original pair of Targhee II's ... MoreThis was the third pair of shoes I received when trying to replace an old pair of Targhee II's that have served me well for years. I am done with Keen and will only be purchasing new hiking boots in person when I can try them on. I feel the manufacturing of Keen boots is not what it used to be and am disappointed as a person who has always had brand loyalty to products I think are deserving.
I am glad you asked for my feedback. Order PKUS8235461, SKU 887194985074 placed nearly a year ago on December 13, 2022 was a real disappointment. The Targhee III Waterproof received were my normal size 10, but these hurt my feet from the beginning. They caused corns to develop on the outside of my foot about halfway from my little toe to the heel. I sent a message on the Keen portal of the problem, but received no reply. I assumed the sizing or last had been changed in some way. I have been purchasing Keen Targhees since 2014 in size 10 and they have always been comfortable right out of the box. This month I decided to give Keen another try and placed order US-739945, SKU 887194984756 and was pleasantly surprised to discover comfort right out of the box like I had ... MoreI am glad you asked for my feedback.
