I had been looking at pet stores for items and decided instead of driving around to purchase items one here one there I would get them all at once from Chewy.I was under the impression after reading descriptions I was purchasing the dog bone to fill each end with a treat. I received this with a rope in it. My 8 month old Toy Miniature Poodle of 6lbs had the rope shredded into strings swallowing them in less than 10-15 minutes. I paid close attention over the next day or so and luckily they came out when he went potty. This is not what I expected or envisioned from looking at stores and online.

Our last dog could chew Nylabones but broke her teeth on real bones. So I stuck to Nylabone with this guy. He's a big, nervous guy, and he seemed to calm himself by chewing on the Nylabone. But he broke a tooth on that. So the only option we could see was trying a Kong. Didn't work. He'll lick the stuff out of this okay. But once that's gone, he has no interest in chewing on rubber.

My dogs both love these bones. It gives them something to do and they get very excited when I pulled them out. Sometimes treats do get stuck. Just make sure you take the treat out because one time I found mold from a leftover treat that went bad. I also use these to stick dog bones thro! It helps my dog hold the bone better and no I don’t need to worry about my dogs choking on their bones once they are near the end

Our girl Allie will tear up most toys quickly, but the Kong Classic Dog Bone last the test of time with her. It doesn’t come apart and the large size prevents it from being a choking hazard. She is an American Bulldog mix, and she is 7 years old, the only reason we got rid of her first Kong Dog Bone was it looked like it had a small amount of cracks from drying due to age, and I thought maybe a piece could break off. Overall it’s a great item at a reasonable price.
In preparation for our little ones homecoming, we bought some toys and this was one of the toys we purchased. My Alaskan Nanukklee has loved this toy since arriving home. Now as she is approaching seven months, I can honestly say this is one of the best toys we purchased! It is one of the only toys that remains in her toy lineup, and the only toy that remains from day one. We twist it, we tug it like a tug toy, I put bully sticks in it to avoid paying the high cost of bully stick holders, I stuff treats inside, or use plain peanut butter, and through all of the chewing it holds up! This toy has so many uses it’s one of my favorites for her. I highly highly highly recommend it.Just a bit of info on my puppy:She was about 7 1/2 pounds when we first brought her home ... MoreIn preparation for our little ones homecoming, we bought some toys and this was one of the toys we purchased. She likes to strip her toys, so when she is destroying something she slides her teeth repeatedly on it to strip it, rather than just continuously chew. I will be posting a video to our YouTube channel shortly, and will link it here as soon as I do. I really hope this review helps!
It's a good toy. You can freeze it or fill it. Or both. But they don't really love it without doing something to it. It does keep them busy for a while if you find the right treat filler. I do recommend it for puppies, mine has used it from his puppy teeth growing in, to the same teeth falling out. I'll probably get him the adult version sometime when his adult teeth are done growing in since he still likes it.You can probably put wet food in them and freeze it but I'm lazy and I wanted something faster. If you're looking for a cheap bulk stick to fit in these, I've found Wholesomes brand Jerky Sticks fit perfectly in a way they're not too tight and not too loose. I'm not getting promoted for this, I'm just trying to save some teething-related heartache. It took me like 8 weeks to find the right treat to fit this toy that wasn't too pricy, or too tight, or too loose, or too boring. Now I'll tell any puppy owner I meet about it. Get them both and you won't regret it.I have a lot of dogs. I sometimes board/train and foster. I work at a doggie daycare. So I mean, I've got tons of toys, but this is still one that I find myself reaching for a lot. Most puppies do enjoy it once you've got the right treat. It lasts. Go for it. And get the Wholesomes sticks.
I’ve been looking for a high quality bone that my golden retriever can chew on for a long time without it breaking apart within minutes or hours. Besides compressed bone, the other one I got previously made of plastic - broke apart easily and the small pieces became a real problem as they can easily get ingested. This one is made of solid rubber and hasn’t come apart since I got it a week ago. Highly recommended for large dogs. Only thing to note is it’s a tad heavy for the XL size.
Kong products are usually the best on the market, even for heavy chewers because they don’t usually have things that you can be ripped off. When this arrived and I saw the little tiny pointy things that hold the treats I was afraid that my 7-month old, 8-pound Chihuahua mix puppies would be able to rip off a piece. Therefore, I watched them like a hawk and twice they were able to rip off a small piece. I only caught the second one as she was swallowing it. Shortly thereafter, she threw up but not the piece of rubber. In the trash it went.
I have two small dogs, approximately 20 lbs. I bought two of these because they were supposed to be for aggressive chewers. Within minutes of giving these to them they had chewed a couple pieces off and swallowed them before I could get to them. Then up all night with them throwing up. These should be outlawed. Do not buy these.
I ordered this for my new Maltese and Shih tzu pups. Instead I received what’s in pic I included. Item number is not even barely close to similar. I called Chewy and they promptly re-ordered the one I wanted and told me to just keep the one I received. So the new one arrived and guess what? Yup, same wrong one again! At this point I give up. The problem is the one I ordered is a litter bigger than the one I’m receiving which is why I prefer it. But I will say Chewy is always courteous and rights the wrong immediately as they always have which is why I have been with them for years for all my pets. So yes I will overlook this!
