The glycolic and lip-hydroxy acids work together to exfoliate and promote cell renewal, while the 1.5% salycylic acid clears and refines pores. All in all a great product that doesn’t break the bank AND does its job. A win-win.

This is actually a product made by @LaRochePosay that I have never heard of! It’s fabulous! Even after a short time of using it, I am already ready to make a review, post pics and more! I have minor acne in general. at times (more than I’d like) I get very deep and painful acne cystic and man, do they hurt or what and they last for-EVER. Ugh! I am however, very careful with my skin so I just try to remain patient in terms of not messing with them to get them to go away quicker as truly, it doesn’t work that way. This serum is very lightweight and absorbs into skin VERY QUICKLY!! It does have a slight sticky texture when applied, but it dissipates very quickly as it absorbs into your skin. It doesn’t feel oily after application like other serums can. I haven’t seen much of a difference in my acne or existing acne scars, but I do believe the glycolic acid has helped minimize the appearance of my large gaping pores (after ~4 weeks of use)! I gave this 4 stars because this serum is fragranced, and as an acne treatment, should really not have any fragrance which can further irritate acne-prone skin.  At first, I was a little nervous to try the Effaclar Salicylic Acid Serum on my face due to other serum’s, not doing my skin better, but worse. After trying a little skin patch, it wasn’t so bad and I put it on my whole face and on my cheeks and forehead, (my most sensitive spots). Wow such a nice serum. I've heard so many good things about la roche posay ive only been able to try a couple things so far but everything they make is so good and so good for your skin. I will always trust every product this brand makes. But this serum is really nice it's not just a Salycilic Acid Serum for acne and breakouts it also has glycolic acid and Niacinimide in it. I do a nightly skincare rotation throughout the week. 1st night exfoliants 2nd night retinol 3rd 4th night recovery w/ just Hyaluronic acid. I've added this serum into my exfoliant night routine and it's perfect just what I was missing because I still get random breakouts here and there so the Salycilic Acid helps with that and the Niacinimide and glycolic acid for exfoliating, resurfacing ... MoreWow such a nice serum. I got this product 4 days ago and was excited because I read all of the great reviews. I had previously never considered my fave sensitive or really acne prone. It was just breaking out because I slept in my makeup. Fast forward four days of using this at night and my face is peeling. I only used a few drops at night as directed. When I applied it tonight I noticed it tingled more than normal, so I washed it off. My skin was peeling all on my cheeks and over my eyebrows. It was burning and is currently red. It’s advertised for all skin but I disagree. I’m really disappointed because I expected a lot better especially at this price point. I would also like to add that I have previously used a salicylic acid serum from a different brand that worked really well. Effective product, good idea, but not the best.

I've had pilling issues with La Roche-Posey products before due to my oily skin type, and my skin barrier not absorbing it fully due to added, unnecessary ingredients, however I found this serum very light and watery so it was fine. I liked that it combined 4 active ingredients in one product so it's a good time saver for people who don't like layering separate products. However the added fragrance was unnecessary and I wasn't a fan of it. It came in a hygienic bottle with dropper and I only needed a small amount to cover my whole face, so I think it would last a while. Also it states on the bottle that in case of discomfort to space out applications. I was using Retinol at night, and this combined with the cold, windy, winter weather, and sitting in hot air conditioning blowing in my face most of the day and night, really dried out my skin. I had to have a break from my usual Retinol and use extra moisturising products to heal my dried up skin before I could properly test this. I had a slight reaction when I didn't, and it left me with extremely dry, scaly, irritated skin and a slight burn mark where I had previously extracted a pimple. I would probably more likely use this product during the warmer months, when my skin gets extra oily and I don't have any issues with dryness. I personally wouldn't purchase this, as I already have and use a better brand with the same ingredients (but no added fragrances or unnecessary ingredients). However a lot of people seem to like it so I'd recommend it to others. My skin is pretty clear already due to a good skincare regime, so this didn't really make a lot of difference. Maybe if I was only using La Roche-Posey exclusively, and for longer, I also test and use a lot of other different brands. It's a bit hard to say otherwise. Good and effective product, absorbed fast and easily, was able to layer it with other products, great time saver, but just not for me and could use some improvements.
