A Game for Kids

The Lego branded games always feel like they are so close to pleasing adults and kids, almost like the Lego movies do.However, this is another Lego game that will only please kids below 13.With the Marvel license you'd think the game would feel more like the movies but the Marvel/Avengers music is rarely used. Also, lines pulled directly from the films sound very odd when heard in the game. One of the worst examples of audio mixing I've heard. Some gameplay elements get very repetitive and if a buddy plays with you, sometimes they will be left waiting until you can complete a certain objective. The lack of direction is also very surprising for a kid's game. For an adult like myself, there were several times I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing.

I purchased this game for my 7 year old nephew for his birthday. He was convinced this was the game for him by his 11 year old brother. They have both always played with legos and have been fans of the previous LEGO Marvel Avengers game. Since he’s opened it, they haven’t stopped playing athough they still play the original version.Overall, this game is loved and enjoyed by all the children who come over to play. If you played the older game, then this will feel familiar. Luckily, we purchased this while it was on sale.

Good, but, not great.

This Lego game did not win me over. Without going too much in depth on this review, I'll just make a few short points.First: The game is a slightly lengthened play by play of the the most recent Marvel movies. With a few extra missions tossed in here and there.Second: I honestly think that these Lego games have gotten increasingly more complex, especially for a child. The basics will always be the same but with more and more to do in each iteration and annoying 'help' icons, this game almost makes it a drag to play.Third: Lastly, I'm tired of all of the console exclusive content. Mainly towards PlayStation. I have all three current gen systems so, losing content isn't a problem. This is just an annoyance, timed exclusive or not, this needs to stop. Great game
15 May 2023

This is a great game full of challenging puzzles. I've played it so much in the past month that I'm already about 90% done with my first save. I love the random easter eggs hidden throughout. And who can forget Tony Stark's commentary? It really ties the whole thing together. I like how there are side levels that are of an entire movie cut into 3 parts. The only thing I didn't like was the very long cut scenes.Would recommend this game to others.

Lego Gaming just keeps improving

We pretty much own all these Lego Minifigure games by Traveller's Tales since the first ones came out on the Wii with Lego Star Wars when my kids were barely out of diapers. In that span of time. these Lego games have expanded and gotten a lot better graphics wise and have added so many characters to collect now. Toys to Life videogames may have become the rage with Skylanders, Disney Infinity, Amiibo's and Lego Dimiensions... but the original updated Lego videogames have stood the test of time and me and kids always get every edition that comes out. Gameplay is the same as before as you collect bricks, studs and the like. Lego Marvel Avenger's is no exception. I know people complain that these latest versions are not compatible with the Wii.. but the online updates ... MoreWe pretty much own all these Lego Minifigure games by Traveller's Tales since the first ones came out on the Wii with Lego Star Wars when my kids were barely out of diapers. Sure these DLC's normally cost some money.. but it's practically peanuts compared with the Toys to Life figures. We have alll those too (and my wallet is a lot lighter), but our family keeps coming back to this classic style each time because they're just so fun.

Liked it, but felt at times it wanted to be more
27 August 2016

This was on my wish list for my 3DS for a while so when I picked it up, I had high expectations. Yes, it is a good game, and it does provide gamers with some fun playing time, but in the end, as I approached the end, I felt like it had not hit all it's marks. Many of the battles because of the screen size and the fighting styles, were hard to control and maneuver. Also, the best way to describe the game is "cluttered", in that at times it seems to have went for quantity over quality in the backgrounds and some of the charcter designs. he lesser characters, such hawkeye and Raven, were not used to the best of the games abilities, and when they were used, the more notable characters, like an Iron Man or Capt. So, yes, good game, lots of stuff to do, worth the price, but also cluttered with extras and at times too much going on to be able to concentrate on the missions.

Mindless Button Mashing with Obscure Puzzles
1 March 2016

The main reason I bought Lego Avengers was because it was being advertised as an open world Lego game and my son loves Legos and the Avengers. However, the advertising is misleading and requires you to go through several levels to unlock a playable open world hub. Rinse and repeat until you finish the game and then it truly can be semi-open world. So I decided to run through the campaign as quickly as possible to unlock the free roam mode, however the game mechanics are so terrible that I really can't stand playing this. You go from literally mashing the same button or two over and over again, to trying to figure out these stupidly obscure puzzles. This wouldn't be so bad save for the fact that there are dozens of prompts and highlighted areas that draw the player ... MoreThe main reason I bought Lego Avengers was because it was being advertised as an open world Lego game and my son loves Legos and the Avengers. This wouldn't be so bad save for the fact that there are dozens of prompts and highlighted areas that draw the player in but require a different character to actually be able to break the brick, control the scanner, etc. And lastly, I have experienced glitches where a character is stuck in a corner and cannot jump or move out which required me to close the game and restart the entire mission. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because my kid does like to run around as a super hero. But I really wish I would have saved the money and passed on it.

More Lego!
6 April 2016

Bought for my Vita which has become my preferred place to play these. I think they go well together. I've played pretty much all the Lego games and loved them all, and while this one contimues that trend I will say I liked Lego Marvel Superheroes more. Don't know if it's just because I already knew the story or didn't like the setup of the hub world, but even saying that I did really enjoy it. This one follows the story of the Avengers movies and sort of has voice acting in that they seemed to have just used recordings lifted from the films. Not terrible just noticeable and makes it feel a little off. They've expanded this one to include a hub world so it's more in line with the console releases. Needy girlfriend is bad at video game
22 April 2022

Best buy experience itself was great. They brought the game to my car with crubside pick up. As for the game, my needy girlfriend and i keep getting stuck do many times while playing. Game is kind of glitchy. Some level designs is little bit questionable, hard to see things. Lot of it is my girlfriend's fault. She is terrible at video games. Not the BEST game i BUY but not the worst.

My kids love the lego games and I am happy that they are age appropriate, and tend to shy away from gratuitous violence (legos breaking apart aside). Follows the. Storylines of the movie.I personally am a gamer of around 30 years, and while appreciate fixes to a rushed game in the form of updates, I really dislike game companies evolving to dlc as the norm for game releases in our last few console generations. I get the economics and appeal (heck, I have aftermarket components on all my vehicles). This game does offer dlc, that was available on launch day (maybe developers should offer the launch dlc for free in week one of release to those paying for game prior to price drop). I will admit, I was enjoying the game while sitting with my children. We laughed at the character animations, and reminisced about the last time we watched the Avengers movie
