Though I’d never tried Levi’s before, I’m impressed with the 501 Original Men’s Jeans in Medium Indigo. The fabric feels incredibly durable and high-quality, holding up well even after multiple washes. I also love that the color stays vibrant, which really adds to their classic appeal. The button-fly design is a cool, retro touch that gives the jeans a bit of character. The fit is great—snug but comfortable, and they soften up nicely over time without losing their shape. Overall, I get why these jeans have such a following. They’re built to last and make a versatile, stylish addition to the wardrobe.

Love the color; not the button fly
26 January 2023

Really good pants. Fabric in the sweet spot between tough and cozy to the touch. The color on these is a very good dark gray without really getting into that class of colors you'd call "charcoal." Lovely. But Levi's really should just ditch this whole button-fly thing. It's weird. I think pretty much everyone prefers zippers. At a minimum, they should basically lead with the fact that these pants do not have a zipper because I think the average shopper would never realize that these and most casual shoppers are probably surprised these don't have a zipper. (I certainly didn't when I bought my first pair of 501 Originals and just assumed "button fly" in the listing meant there was a button at the top and not a snap.) There's probably some niche shopper who prefers the 97-button fly, but I haven't met them and I'd be cool with Levi's just confining listings of jeans like these to some section of the site where you'd have to be looking for them to find them instead of how they are now where people probably just stumble across them and even buy them without recognizing that they're kinda gimmicky by today's standards.

Massive Fail

Saw these were on sale on Amazon, so I ordered the Dark Stonewash (00501-0115). Promptly received Dark Wash (00501-3402). Ordered a replacement, and made a trip to Whole Foods singularly to make the return. Replacement pants arrived today. Sticker on the plastic bag indicated they were the correct jeans (501-0115), but the pants inside were in fact Light Stonewash (00501-0134). Because they've failed twice on the same item, Amazon won't let me do a replacement, so my only option is to get a refund and then make a special trip to UPS to return the second incorrect pair of jeans. The kicker is that now returning to Amazon, the Dark Stonewash is no longer available in my size, and if I want to opt for Medium Stonewash instead, the price has gone up. Sadly, I'm old enough to remember when Levi was a good brand/company.

Not What They Used To Be
3 February 2024

I wore these for years, took an extended break, and recently bought three pairs. Unfortunately they are simply not the jeans they used to be, and certainly not anything I would recommend or buy again. The material itself is fine, but the inner seams are seriously unfinished, to the point of being uncomfortable on one pair. Worse, the hems are significantly thinner, both on the pant legs and at the top of the back pockets, allowing them to curl ridiculously. That's OK on the bottom hems, but in two of the three pairs I bought the back pockets are a joke. They certainly did not look that way when they arrived, but did after a single washing/drying. No amount of ironing will flatten them. Of course, having been washed, Levi's won't take them back - an expensive lesson ... MoreI wore these for years, took an extended break, and recently bought three pairs. So it looks like I'll be looking for other brands in the future. Sigh.

Quality is ever-decreasing
18 January 2024

For $92 I would expect far greater quality and service than what I received. I have been wearing Levi's for the past 40+ years. It used to be that they were made in America, were plentiful in supply and cost a reasonable amount of money. Now they are made in countries all over the world. If I were to be able to find three pairs of jeans that were actually my size (average) each one would be made in a different country and would fit entirely differently. I have found up to a 2" discrepancy in three different pairs of jeans at the same store and marked the same size. This current pair that I bought were made in Egypt. Thankfully that's a country that makes the ones that fit me. However the front pockets are so tight that I can barely squeeze my hand in. If I do I will make sure that I send them the same way that they came to me: By the second slowest service o the planet: DHL/USPS. (China Post is #1). From time of order it took 10 days to get to me. Now maybe Jeff Bezos has me spoiled, but I swear almost a week and a half??? And $92 ??? I may have to switch to Wranglers.

Service great, jean’s quality has gone downhill
17 July 2024

My hubby has only ever worn original 501 button fly jeans. I buy them in fives most of the time assuming his hard to find size (32x36) is available. Since he’s a construction guy, he works his jeans hard, especially when squatting down to do something. Unfortunately, the quality has gone downhill on these jeans and it doesn’t take more than a month to split at the forward crotch seam. His jeans aren’t tight either, just that the jeans always break there for lack of gusset fabric. The rest of the jeans are perfectly fine but no longer wearable so there goes $75 into the trash. I tried buying the stretch version 501, which he hated and gave away after the first wear. They’re too thin. The heavier denim is needed for stuff like preventing welding sparks. Also for when a sidewinder rattlesnake recently jumped him (we are in the desert) and left a pair of fang holes and a venom patch on his jeans but didn’t break his skin through the denim. So 5 stars for the heavy denim, 5 stars for the store service where I ordered them last, and 1 star for the crotch shred issue.

Smells Awful
2 October 2024

I bought 3 pair of Levis 505 for my husband, in varying washes. As in the past, all of them smell terrible, a very strong chemical smell. I suspect this comes from manufacturing/shipping and is not the fault of Macy's.I contacted Levi's who responded that the tight plastic they are wrapped in can cause an odor (more like intensifies the odor that is already in the fabric), or the "warehouse conditions".The 3 new pair hung on our country clothes line for 48+ hours and still smelled. They soaked overnight in the washer with vinegar added to the water, followed by washing in regular detergent and double rinse and still smelled. They are back on the clothes line blowing in the breeze. It's disappointing to say the least. Ugh! The varous stretch jeans options
20 July 2024

I thought they were original 501 jeans no stretch but these jeans are high strectch which is a a blend of 94% cotton, 5% polyester and 1% elastane. Big mistake on my part not checking my order. After wearing for a while they begin to lose there shape and start to fall off. I guess I should invest in a belt. Wear a belt if you buy any spandex jeans. Looks good in the closet but not on my butt. I did not know by tabbing down on my computer would change the composition on the 501 Original Jeans. You should have different tabs for the various stretch offered.
