What a classic! When I first moved out of the UK, I never realised how barren my storecupboard would be without this underappreciated cooking essential. I followed an online recipe to make my own, and it just wasn't the same. It has to be Lyle's! This is a musthave product for bakers, though I personally also use it to sweeten some savoury dishes like casseroles. It's a great addition to homemade barbecue sauce, too! Best use, though? Drizzled over vanilla ice cream. Delicious!

I grew up with Lyle's Golden Syrup. I'm 63 now. I believe my mother got it at a local market in Massachusetts. In to my 40s, I noticed it was very hard to find. My sister found some just outside Boston and gave me a can for Christmas. I really missed it, so I found you on the web and now I'm a very happy guy. I put it on the usual toast, but I also put it on my half grapefruit that I eat with a spoon and use it in cooking instead of sugar.Sometimes I'll just stick my finger in the can for a sweet snack.Thank you for carrying Lyle's!I think the problem with it's popularity is alot people don't know about it like the last generation. Even though the company, I believe, has the oldest trade mark in the world.I will keep ordering Lyle's from you as I eat it ... MoreI grew up with Lyle's Golden Syrup. I'm 63 now. Lyle's Golden Syrup has a hard-to-match flavor when compared to common products from the USA. For instance, in my opinion, Maple Syrup is my favorite flavor sweetener. Honey a close second. Lyle's has a Honey-like consistency, with sweetness (not flavor) close to Maple Syrup. It occupies a specific niche for flavor, sweetness and consistency. Should you keep it? Yes, you should. Excellent product, service, shipping, packing, etc. It arrived from Pennsylvania (?) to Texas (Via GB) with no damage, leakage or anything else untoward. Good job...

Nice light clean taste
27 March 2024

I started buying Lyles Golden Syrup several years ago. It's a nice light and clean flavored syrup. Very clean. I love it on pancakes. Google some British recipes and you'll get lots of suggestions! I use it in my pecan and chess pie. Very flavorful.

Nothing like Tate and Lyle

Nothing like Tate and Lyle golden syrup ,unique flavour ,accept no substitute . Treacle Tart is not correct without it, or home made gingerbread . It’s dreamy on your morning porridge! Another store cupboard essential for this Brit. 👌😋

Besides being sweet, does sugar from sugar cane have a flavor It does And when the sugar boils down into syrup, the flavor comes out. So, okay it IS sugar. Politically incorrect. Empty calories.... She put it in frostings and who knows what else. But I just like it as it is... dip your fingers in and lick them off. Ummmmmmmm....My kids love this stuff on their Porridge Oats every morning, the flavour is amazing.A must for anyones kitchen.

Tate and Lyle's Golden Syrup Tin - 16oz (454g)
14 March 2024

This should be in a squeeze bottle. The tin does not fully close. The top, once opened, does not snap in properly. I store the tin in a Ziploc to avoid drawing ants. If you're not aware that the top isn't tight, it spills out easily so don't ask the kids to get the little tin for you. It spilled all over, it's very sticky, and no fun to clean up. It's also expensive and that is the most upsetting part. It's good but... really need a container with a properly fitting lid. Squeeze bottles are hard for kids to open.

Delicious syrup that brings back memories of childhood. My mom was from England and gave me this syrup as a child. It took me years to find it at this lovely tea store. I didn't know the of it. All I could remember is the gold and green can.

The best!
11 March 2024

I can remember this in a tin from my childhood in the 50s and 60s. Shame things have to change. Disappointed to see the bottle now has a different label instead of the original label. The original label is far nicer.
