Whether you're hiking, travelling or exploring the city, the Macpac Mens Sabre Softshell Jacket is warm and weather resistant in variable weather conditions. A classic jacket with a full length front zip and zipped pockets, the fabric has a smooth outer face with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish and a soft fleece backing for extra warmth in cool climates. Being an abrasion resistant softshell with a breathability rating of 5,000 g/m²/24hr and a water resistance (or hydrostatic head) rating of 10,000 mm, the Sabre is a great, general purpose jacket for year round use.

Works well to protect from wind but it provides very minimal rain protection. Water come straight through onto the back of your neck through the logo stitched there. The sizing is way off, I'm usually a medium but read beforehand to go a size up so went with a large but even this is a tight fit and the hood will only just fit of not wearing anything on your head like a beany etc. Wouldn't recommend this product

Great jacket. Fits well. Very versatile and stylish. Hood is handy for winter and it's jacket that looks good with dress pants or jeans and is very comfortable and retains heat well as well as keeping out light rain and drizzle.

I have used the softshell Macpac vests for years and love them for their fit, practicality and durability. Not a fan of the puffer vests and jackets because of their bulk, and the softshell is as warm as the puffer without making you look like a snowman. Thought I would buy the jacket to complement existing vests and should've done it years ago. Fantastic fit and comfort.

I have had this item for a couple weeks now and it is my favourite jacket. I bought it recently after buying the equivalent kid's jackets two years ago for each of our children. They love them and I thought I'd get one for myself. It is comfortable, warm and looks good too. It even keeps you dry through a light shower and drizzle. I do find however that the arms are a little tight fitting in comparison to the body (no, I'm not a body builder). I would recommend going a size up on your usual to account for this fact unless you have spaghetti arms.
Great jacket. Well made and comfortable. True to size. Excellent wind breaking and water resistance combined with warmth. I use this as a walking and bicycling jacket and layer it with other layers I'd it's really cold.
Love this jacket. Plenty of secure pockets, copes with the rain well and beads off nicely. Good sized hood and the fluffy liner on the inside makes it warm and comfortable for such a lightweight jacket. Had to go up a size compared to my normal Macpac jacket purchases as the sleeves were tight around forearm and I needed flexibility for my intended use.
Love my Sabre softshell. This became my go to for the cooler days, especially if there was a chance of rain or it was lightly raining. Looks great, lovely & warm & surprisingly good in the light rain. I haven’t used it when the rain has been heavy. Although it does bead initially I did find the fabric retained moisture eventually, but stayed warm regardless. Great keeping the wind out.
Served us well both in camps and hikes as well as recent trip to Japan. Zippered pockets including one at chest height was great for train tickets/ cards. Hood was great in light rain - the rest of the family needed raincoats. Easy to wash and dried overnight.
This jacket is OK. It's reasonably comfortable, but it feels very 'thin'.I certainly wouldnt buy this jacket at full RRP. My biggest issue is it's not really long enough for taller people. I am 6 foot 3 inches tall. And if I stand up straight - the front of the jacket pulls up above my belt line. Not a good look. It really needs to be an inch or two longer for taller people.
I like the jacket in general, but the plastic tabs on the sleeves (with velcro) used to tighten the sleeve are brittle and have subsequently been torn off my jacket and my wife's jacket. I would like Macpac to advise if there is somewhere I can get this fixed, as apart from this, both jackets are still in good order....and I don't want to purchase another with the same sleeve tabs.
