I like this pack for small day trips, but it doesn't work for a a big day or cragging trip. The chest strap is just too wimpy. If you throw in your trad rack and then add a rope, you have a heavy load and the chest strap does not hold the pack against your upper torso, so you feel it tugging on your shoulders the hold time. I have to reinforce the chest strap with a sling when the pack is heavily loaded.

It's basically just an open haul bag with extra functionality on the outside and a frame. When using the hip and chest buckles, the pack completely vanishes from my senses with my whole sport rack and anchors in it. Looks kinda goofy when it isn't full if that's a concern for anyone. I wish it had one more zipper pocket on the inside for small stuff like brushes but I can use a stuff sack instead.

Used this on my first multi-pitch and it was the perfect size. It held my gear and water, ~20lb, very well on the long approach. It doubles a a decent day pack or carry on luggage. It’s a tube style so you dont have many options for how to store gear, but the brain pocket and side pocket are nice. The velocro held my helmet well too.

I have been climbing and mountaineering since the early '90s. I have used lots of packs. Usually, a light pack means a painful pack once you put weight in it. This one finally breaks that mold. It is the most comfortable pack I have ever carried even when it's full of mountaineering gear. The shoulder straps call to mind those light comfortable running vests and they do not disappoint. The sleeves in the shoulder straps make it so easy to access water, phones, maps, snacks, or other small things while on the move.In addition to being comfortable, the pack is well thought out. The Trion Nordwand 28 is a great back pack. It's robust and the material used is built to last. It's extremely comfortable to wear, probably one of the most comfortable packs I have owned. We use it for hiking and it's the main pack for carrying all the kids stuff and ours. It's plenty big enough for day hikes and easily stores everything. It's the first pack we have had that's a roll top and we were a bit unsure about it before ordering, buts it's fantastic. Easy to get to stuff inside and keeps everything dry if a shower catches you out. We would definitely recommend it.
Bought this to mainly be used for alpine and climbing. The backpack is really comfortable to wear, and handles weight nice for its size. The way it sit on my back make it feel more like a running pack than a pack of its size, love it! It sits relatively high on my back and follows movement. The material seems sturdy. The pack is full of small and smart features, like pockets on the shoulder straps and elastic band loops to keep straps organized. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the upper ice tool holders. Velcro make it a bit cumbersome to operate with gloves. I prefer the classic cord loop and cinch because of that. Am planning to make my own to fix that.
So far I've only carried it around the neighbourhood with 4 ropes stashed inside. It carries well and feels comfortable. I love the feature set, especially the ultra harness. This lack has everything I want in an alpine rock and ice pack; detachable floating lid, lightweight, rope strap, tool carry, ample room, not so tall that my helmet bumps the lid.
Very nice backpack, used it to climb Cotopaxi in Ecuador, and a few other mountains there. Very lightweight, sturdy. The open/close mechanism is wonderful. Great space, super comfortable.
My wife and I bought this pack in the men’s and women’s version to go on a three day rock climbing course. The course involved hiking to the cliff which made this pack very comfortable. It’s lightweight design yet still able to hold all our gear was great. The colors stand out and bright. Would highly recommend this pack. Next adventure is bringing these pack ice climbing.
Fine backpack. Very light. A bit short and thick. Carrying system is good but the straps are fixed horisontally and not in an angle which would have been better for me. No real pockets. Only a very small one on the side. Not even room for a bar of chocolate. So.. 6 out of 10
