Purchased these a few weeks ago because I’m a small boat sailing instructor and needed a closed toe shoe that I can submerge when beach launching. They run a little large so I purchased a 10 even though I typically wear a 10.5. They feel like real shoes, not poorly fitting clogs. But I have 2 complaints. The strap can be placed over your foot or around your heel. When around your heel, your foot will be slide slightly forward for a tighter fit, but it makes them much more difficult to put on. They are definitely not slip on shoes, even with the strap over your foot where it does very little. Second is particular to beach/water use. There aren’t any holes below the level of the sole. So water won’t drain fully on its own. There are also no holes at the toe or heel so ... MorePurchased these a few weeks ago because I’m a small boat sailing instructor and needed a closed toe shoe that I can submerge when beach launching. There are also no holes at the toe or heel so to drain the water while wearing, you need to bend your foot in an awkward way to get the water to drain from the gap behind the hing of the strap. That makes it nearly impossible to get the sand out without removing the shoe. Crocs have holes below the sole and drain both sand and water much better. But I find these more comfortable then Crocs and I can run in these (short distances) like I can in an athletic shoe. I work with a lot of people that have similar shoes and I’ve gotten some positive comments about how these shoes look, particularly with the strap behind the heel.

I needed a "water shoe" for our family vacation to Universal Studios/Island of Adventure/Volcano Bay in Orlando. I shopped many "typical" water shoe options and didn't love what I was seeing. I had been considering purchasing Crocs for some time, just a simple slip on to hit the grocery store, let the dog out, go to the pool etc and didn't want that as my option either. Then I stumbled across the Hydro Moc. I read ALL reviews, good and bad, before making my decision- and I am extremely happy with choosing the Hydro Moc! They served the purpose for wet rides at Universal and as a water shoe at Volcano Bay (water park). When they are wet, they definitely are a bit slippery, so use caution. Shake your feet a bit to expel excess water and walk carefully... they dry up enough to not be quite as dangerously slippery. I wore them into the various pools at the water park as well, and was happy with results. Swimming wasn't difficult at all- grip in the pool isn't quite as good as bare footed, but again, served the purpose. My one issue- walking great distance throughout the theme parks does become a bit uncomfortable. Slight rubbing in some areas occurred, and if I hadn't changed (finally) when I did, I'm sure blistered would have been an issue. I did expect this though, given the amount of walking we did, and time frame (covering the two parks in 8 or so hours was a bit much). Around the house in a casual environment, they're perfect! I wear a Men's size 13.0 in literally every type of shoe and I went down to a 12.0 based on other reviews. The 12.0 is a perfect fit! I'm quite happy with my choice and will continue to use the Hydro Moc (when appropriate)!

I have a love hate relationship with these. Pros. Once you break them in, they are so comfy. Cons. The tiniest bit of sand on the heal will cause major rubbing. Wading in a river/lake? The rocks and sand will go in but until you remove the shoe they will not come out. Any wet sand will also rub you like crazy. They can also be really hard to pull off when they are wet, there is some suction that you have to fight. Lastly, walking on sandy dry surfaces or fields with weeds will keep you busy emptying all the bits that you pick up. I will not be buying these again. It’s such a shame as they are expensive and I feel like I havent got my monies worth.

I bought the Hydro Mocs at the end of last summer and found them to be comfortable, stylish, and durable. However, I'm unsure about their ability to withstand water, particularly salty seawater. In the past, I've worn water shoes in salty water, and they've fallen apart. Also, I gave the Moc's three stars because they tend to be larger in size, and I had to wear ankle socks to prevent hair plucking, which can be painful. I recommend ordering a smaller size unless you prefer a loose fit. However, despite the loose fit, they do not fall off. Overall, the Hydro Mocs are a great start for Merrell, but there's still room for improvement.
Purchased a set of these a week ago. I sized down one size from my normal shoe size per advice of others on the internet and they fit me perfect!Pros:-this shoe is REALLY comfortable. They have a generous amount of arch support and heel support than crocs even when not in "sport mode", which make them much easier to walk in compared to similar products-no low down vent holes like crocs so dirt and sand doesn't get in as easy while you are walking-Sport mode feels REALLY secure, so much so I am comfortable doing more athletic things in these shoes, light running, casual games on the beach etc...Cons;-lack of texture on the inside of the shoe leads to a lack of grip when the insides get wet. it feels like i'm sliding around in there even though its a snug ... MorePurchased a set of these a week ago. MERRELL PLEASE make a version with texture or stippling on the inside the shoe for improved grip!!!-while the lack of scupper holes low to the ground is nice for keeping dirt out, if water gets in the shoe, it doesn't have anywhere drain naturally so you just end up walking around with a quarter cup of water in each shoe, compounded with the previously mentioned lack of grip inside the shoe when wet is a serious design flaw.-it is somewhat difficult to get into the shoe while in "sport mode", however, once you get in, your feet are quite secure.Overall, happy with the purchase, but I would like to see a version with improved water drainage, and increased grip texture inside the shoe
Bought this based on the suggestion of some YT influencer. It injured the heel of my feet. Very uncomfortable. Been three weeks since I returned them and the wound is still there because the cuts were so deep. My socks were soaked in blood as I was running late for my meeting and ran in these. When I tried to return these, they mentioned they can't be returned as you've worn them. Worst experience. I wish I could rate these even lower. There's a design flaw in these Hydro mocs, the back lift of the shoe is gonna hurt you so bad, I can't explain. I want to add the photos with my injury and bleeding heel but it may be graphic which I feel will lead to them hiding my review.
Wrote up a lengthy review and lost it. I knew these would be dicey in the BWCA, but wanted to give it a go anyway since they are perfect for portaging. Here's bulletpoints...1. These run big. Like big big. I wear 8.5 or 9s in all shoes. I ordered 8s and they still had heel chafe. When I portaged in these suckers and got mud in them, the sliding and slipping was crazy. My toe kept ramming into the front enclosure.2. Again size issues: while carrying a canoe, my right leg went deep into a bog. I quickly pulled it out and lost my shoe in the bog because they are so loose. My friend Choi found the thing (miraculously), but these are not secure at all. I would've hated leaving a shoe in paradise (LEAVE NO TRACE, MFs).3. Nailed my shin on a rock edge. Definitely not ... MoreWrote up a lengthy review and lost it. Definitely not the shoe's fault entirely, but think it's possible I wouldn't have gotten hurt so badly in more proper hiking shoes.4. Thought the sharp pain in my sole was something weird going on internally with my foot, but after inspection, there was a very small conal stick that had poked through the sole of the shoe and was poking my foot with every step. It wasn't a rock -- it was a STICK that had gotten through the shoe. It was very hard to get out, but the bigger issue was that it was day 3 with these shoes. I can't even imagine what a sharp rock could do them.Anyway, I changed into my back-up boots and will probably utilize these as gardening shoes. They are not hiking shoes even for light hikes and honestly am somewhat skeptical of wearing them to walk the dog in case of rocks or glass.
I wanted to love these. I deploy frequently and wanted something that allowed me to walk over the rocks. Crocs are too wide for my narrow feet so these seemed like a great option. Unfortunately, each shoe of the pair I received seems to be different. The top edge of the back rubs significantly, only on my right Achilles, leaving a huge sore that is now bothered by other shoes. No matter how much I bend it back it continues to cut into the back of my ankle. Also, they do not mold to your feet at all. I’ve tried them with and without socks and they continue to rub in several places. Usually love all my Merrells but these were a big swing and a miss for my narrow feet.
Purchased for yard/gardening. It took a minute or two to get over the idea that I was wearing marshmallows or that someone would think I was wearing the blue shoes that Deadpool made famous. These shoes are weightless and unbelievably comfortable and supportive. Literally like walking on air. I am impressed with the arch support/footbed. They are easy/quick on and off and are the easiest to clean of all the watershoes I've ever encountered. I especially like the lack of fabric on these. I am between sizes, opted for the half size down, and have plenty of room in both length and width. The heel cup fits well, but was too high for me and created blisters, even with the strap moved to the front. A little KT Tape or moleskin (on me) before activities solves the issue, I have not yet tried to alter the shoe itself. Often mulch, dirt, rocks, etc. is able to pass through the holes making the occasional stop for removal neccesary - which is to be expected. I don't mind as the large holes allow for great airflow. Knowing these would be worn outdoors, I chose the Hi-Viz Chartreuse. They are easy to see from a distance. It would be GREAT if Merrell would make these in other Hi-Viz colors. In spite of the blisters and limited color options, I will absolutely be getting several more of these.
I’ve owned and enjoyed many pairs of Merrell shoes over the years. I had great expectations for these shoes. I wanted something to wear while gardening that I could use while barefoot, moving in and out of the dirt. With the slightest bit of moisture, even just my slightly sweaty feet, they became dangerously slippery for me. Forget about watering my plants/garden, as even a couple steps proved treacherous. The Merrell website suggested they run small, so I ordered accordingly. When I somehow managed to keep my feet dry enough to wear them, they gave me blisters. I still love the brand, and just ordered a pair of trail runners. These were a total dud in my experience.
