The MICHELIN Commander II creates a new standard with regard to durability, yet without making any compromises in terms of wet weather grip, maneuverability or stability. This performance balance provides yet another eloquent illustration of Michelin's research and development philosophy: no performance gain to be achieved on one front to the detriment of another. Rubber compounds provide remarkable wet grip, without compromising durability. Adt (Amplified Density Technology) provides a highly dense more rigid tire casing which helps deliver excellent feedback and handling in all conditions. The square bead-wire package improves casing rigidity, handling and ease of installation. Silica Rain Technology (SRT) which integrates silica into the compound of the tire tread, while the MICHELIN Commander II's tread pattern has been designed to prevent all forms of uneven wear. The exclusive architecture of the MICHELIN Commander II brings both maneuverability and stability. The tire's more rigid, high-density carcass improves maneuverability, while the aramid fiber crown ply of the rear tire enhances resistance and lightness for impeccable stability, even at high speeds. The numerous longitudinal grooves of the tire's tread pattern optimize water dispersal for outstanding wet weather grip.

There are a lot of opinions when it comes to tires and I think many of them are based on a name rather than value. But there are also a lot of honest reports with good info as well.My 1200c Sportster came with the Dunlop tires and they worked just fine, but the weather hardened them after a couple of years and I started to get some "wheel-Hop" during aggressive braking and I was looking for a bit more grip.I read just about every review about which tires would suit me best that I could find and landed on these for several reasons. The tread design works well, but I only rode in a very light rain so not enough to give a detail report about wet weather. On dry pavement they are awesome ! Even when the Dunlop's were new I always got a slight "wriggle" when passing over the center lines. Nothing dangerous, but a concern. These Michelin's don't even flinch crossing the paint. The compound seems nice and soft and they are better on dirt roads as well.Michelin claims some pretty optimistic mileage on these also, like twice what just about any other tires, but I couldn't find any reviews for people that have gone the extra miles on these yet because they are a fairly new tire.Overall I am very happy with the tires performance and can only hope I get close to the mileage they claim is possible.

These tires are unreal. I put them on my 2013 Kawasaki Vaquero and they handle so much better than the stock tires. The stock tires only got me about 9,000 miles, probably could have ridden them to 10,000 but they would have been showing the core. From what I am hearing, these tires should get 20,000 miles easily and in some cases 25,000. It's worth spending the extra money on good tires that last longer so I don't have to pay twice to have someone mount and balance tires that get half the life. Also, these tires seem to feel soft and do make my ride much quieter and smoother. Finally, the tread pattern on them are aggressive which makes me feel comfortable when riding in the rain. Highly recommend them!

Advertised 7mm tread depth for my rear size. I measured 6.75mm with a micrometer. With 20k on it so far, my math shows 23.6k miles at min legal tread depth, 26.6k when slick in the center. This is a modified Vulcan 900 Classic with extra load from hard bags, luggage sometimes, windshield air resistance, etc. Some touring 2 up. moderate riding and avg 55 to 65 mph. It's a little slick in the wet but very manageable, and FAR better than competitors 880 and 888, which also tend to have sudden, zero warning, catastrophic tread separation from the carcass (yes, again, after they "fixed" it). I hear these are better than the Commander 3 but haven't tried those yet. I've only had a bit of sliding out when pulling out around a corner hard from a stop or hitting the rear ... MoreAdvertised 7mm tread depth for my rear size. I measured 6.75mm with a micrometer. On my '98 FXD, which I've owned for about 7 years, these tires gave me fantastic grip in all weather (I ride all year round as my motorcycle is my only transportation I own). These tires also got me superb mileage. I averaged approximately 25,000 miles on the front tire and 18,000 on the rear. Now that I have a different bike, a '97 FLSTC, I'm hoping that these tires will impress me as well as they did for my Super Glide.
Good for mileage but they don't hold the road. I'm not exaggerating when I say that these are the most slippery tires I have ever had on a bike. The first time one of these grabs a road snake on a tight mountain corner you'll know what I mean. Tried every pressure combination and suspension preload I could. Found tolerable stability at an odd suspension preload (40 rear 19 front) and 42 psi in the tires. These are awful and will ruin good days of riding because of the lack of confidence you will have in them. I put 7k on them and they have 50% tread left but they are going in the garbage. Going back to Metzler 888's.
I love these tires. They might not have the grip of the Dunlop’s or the Michelin Scorchers, but I’m not swapping out tires every 10,000 miles or more often. By no means is the performance something to balk at. They handle extremely well, but the wear life and grip is a give and take relationship, and on a touring bike you need longevity. Revzilla has the absolute best price, and believe me I spent plenty of time looking around. On top of that I ordered them Saturday evening and they were on my doorstep Tuesday when I got home from work. $350 for front and back tires. I did all the wrenching getting f my wheels off, and brought them to my Harley shop to swap out the tired. That was some great savings as far as I’m concerned and it all started with Revzillas unmatched price and a little wrenching on my own. Thank you Revzilla!
Bought an '01 Honda Shadow VT1100 Spirit last year with a set of tires that I'm pretty sure were the original OE tires - craked, hard as the concrete they were rolling on, and pretty worn. After doing a some research - I happened upon these. Could not be happier with a tire.First off - the handling - wow, the handling. When compared at least to the tires they had on it before, this tire is more "curved" (if that makes sense), more aggressive, and allows you to really lean the bike into your favorite backroad twisties - you lean in and they want to grab. It really inspires confidence in the corners, and especially in wet weather. I rode these in spring, summer, and fall in Alaska with wet weather on both ends of the riding season. I was surprised and very pleased with the handling of the wet roads - channeling water with ease and the silica really does make a difference. In short - the tires really bring life to the bike.As for distance, I put about 3,000 miles on the tires this year - they still look like the day I bought them (minus the lose of the releasing agent). No noticeable wear down the center of the tire, and I use this bike for the long rides and commuting. I've read a lot of reviews of heavier bikes running these tires for 15-20k miles, even loaded - I'm sure I'll replace these on my Shadow because of cracking and aging before mileage.Anyways - in short - if you want some life in your cruiser, confident inspiring handling both wet and dry, and want to just go - these are the tires you want - don't thinking any more, don't keep looking. Only ding I gave it was on B4B - simply because they are pricing for a full set - but hey - you should get it back in mileage alone. You get what you pay for.
The RevZilla product specialists are down to earth and extremely helpful. The cat I spoke with owns a Yamaha. I believe his name was Ben? I own a Harley, but it's a huge plus to be asking questions to a fellow rider, regardless of brand. I was not in love initially with the tread pattern. However, after installation, I not only love how they look, the smooth ride and cornering is amazing! I got educated on the spoke wheels I have, by learning of the rim wraps an innertubes that I needed by the RevZilla Specialist. I was in the tires an parts for around $300 bucks! $132 for installation, so $432 total! A local shop I was directed to in my area quoted me $663.44 tax and all out the door, exact same tires an parts!! Do a man right and out of loyalty you'll do business with his friends an family and acquire life long customers! I have rode the lops, good performance and styling, Harley pushes em hard, but I wouldn't take 2 sets of the lops', for 1 set of the Michelin Commander 2's. I can not assess tread life because I've only had em less than a month. I already knew a man never goes wrong purchasing a Michelin tire. And the company to acquire the Michelins from is most definitely RevZilla!!!!
Running this tire on the front of a 1993 Wide Glide. I live in Florida, and daily afternoon rains happen from June-September. I ride 75 miles roundtrip to work, mostly on I-295/I-10. I've tried the original 'Harley' Dunlops (D402? D404?), Dunlop American Eagle, and the Michelin Commander II. I wouldn't use the 'Harley' Dunlop again unless it were given to me, and even then, I'd hesitate. Seriously. The American Eagle was a great tire, but after I got 27k miles out of a Michelin Commander II on the rear, I put one on the front, also. First front tire that I've ever gotten over 5,000 miles out of (7,500 and counting). Not sure why I get so many miles out of a rear, and so few out of a front; friends say that I must ride backwards lol. Great wet traction, doesn't ... MoreRunning this tire on the front of a 1993 Wide Glide. I live in Florida, and daily afternoon rains happen from June-September. I know that they make a Commander III, but as long as I can get the II, I'm sticking with it.
If you drive like a grandpa these are the tires for you. I bought these tires to replace my Shinko tires that I love but had to replace every 6000 miles. Although these tires function well, I find they are very slippery on wet surfaces. The front and rear tire will slip on wet surfaces. I almost bit it in Sturgis turning a corner on wet asphalt. By the way I did wait to review these tires well after the break in period. Also very sloppy punching out of a corner even when warm. I had hope to continue with these tires because of the great mileage you get with them. Unfortunately, I think when they wear out I'll go back to the Shinko tires that I know I can trust not to slip and slide on wet surfaces. well in closing if you're looking for looks and long wear life these ... MoreIf you drive like a grandpa these are the tires for you.
