The foam sole needs a firmer support layer (below the foam). The foam is so spongy that your foot can rock from side to side as you walk (not a matter of shoe fit). This could lead to injury or joint pain from improper alignment.The 2E version of the show tapers too much at the toe to be comfortable for those of us that require a wide toe-bed. The side of the shoe right below the ankle bone doesnāt come high enough to give proper support/stability.The tread of the shoe is similar to my previous 840v4 2E but thinner and softer. So the treads will wear out even faster than my old shoes.All-in-all the shoe isnāt all that bad for someone with a narrower toe but without a more durable tread and ergonomic support layer, I canāt say the shoe is going to work well.

I have always purchased the 860 New Balance shoe since the V10 came out years ago. They are my go to shoe for running. I was keen to try the V13 as the reviews have been very positive. I tried them yesterday and was very disappointed! The toe box is much narrower that the previous versions and makes them very uncomfortable. If your have a wide foot, steer clear of these even though they are aimed at wide feet (ie 2E size).

Excellent shoe. Shoe is very comfortable. I have a very wide foot (4E). So far I have walked approx. 150 miles in these shoes, with very little issues. I hope to get 200 to 300 more miles out of these shoes. I feel a lot of ankle support and a lot of stability too. These are my go to shoes for everyday. Only down side (which is small) is due to the extra wide width (4E) the shoes only come in 1 color.

This version of the shoe is great. The size and width are true. But to be fair, I have worn the 860 for my running forever. I am in my 60ās and so far injury free. I never change the type of shoe I run in. I never have to try them on. I just order them when I think I need a new pair for running. The old running pair is then used for walking and the walking pair goes to grass cutting.
I LOVE the New Balance 860, I don't think I'll ever buy another brand. BUT, I love the New Balance 860 v12. The NB 860 v 13 REALLY HURT the top of my foot because the tongue is now sewn in and the seam hit just in the wrong spot. I have ordered the NB 860 v 12 where I could find it and will be SO BUMMED if they don't change back to the old style or I'll have to find myself a new brand.ā¹ļø
I purchased the shoes for my 94 year old Father.At this point he is very happy and walking better.I am very appreciative of the time and care that the worker in the Burbank store took with my Dad to insure he was happy.The store only had gray and my wanted the black which we ordered online.Everything went smoothly without any issues or glitches.I am very pleased.I have been shopping at Fleet Feet for many years and will continue to do so.Thank you!
These were bought as a walking trainer around cities. The cushioning was deep but still comfortable. The toe roll isn't extreme, allowing a comfortable walk. The tongue is a little shorter than I would have liked. The heel support is encompassing and strong. The arch support is present but not overpowering for a flat foot.
I love these shoes but have to give them a low rating due to quality issues. This is the second pair Iāve had and the soles on the first pair wore out really quickly. After 3 months both soles were badly worn and in less than 4 months there were holes in the soles. I thought it was a one off but after a month the new shoes soles are wearing badly already as well.Theyāre very comfortable and the rest of the shoe is great but the soles are too soft.
Great shoe through several Evolutions. Iām a 210 big boy and these Work great for my short daily runs or feel light and cushioned for my 5k/10kās. I like a bit heavier and a full stability shoe for my longer training runs (7-13 miles). Nice roomy toe box and sizing is true as advertised. Nice color choices!
I'm not a runner, so bear that in mind as you read this. I love my New Balance 860s--my feet are stupidly wide and there aren't too many shoes that really fit me right. New Balance shoes fit perfectly, are super comfortable, and look great, too. But there are lots of places to buy the shoes, right? I've been a customer of Fleet Feet for years, and wouldn't go anywhere else. Great people who really know the products they carry, and always give great advice.
