I love my training experience in the previous versions of the Nike Free Metcons. I was skeptical of this version due to the changes in the sole and heal I saw on the website. My skepticism grew after my first couple of training sessions in them when I discovered the toe box was tighter than its predecessor. My feet dynamics were different, and my body elevated due to the new sole. The sole has incredible grip, good foot flex, and the heel provides good support to sit back in squats and deadlifts. As I have worked out with them over the past couple of months, I have grown into them. With the pandemic, I am currently training on cement, carpet, and tile. I am curious about training in them on a rubber floor, hardwood, or/and with heavier weight. I am also curious ... MoreI love my training experience in the previous versions of the Nike Free Metcons. So far, a solid evolution to the Nike Free Metcons.

This is my second pair. I'm 6'5" and while I don't work out like a maniac, I do work out consistently, and these sneakers provide fantastic stability, they are not designed to hold up to CrossFit workouts. The sole of these sneakers disintegrates quickly (I've attached photos). I use these sneakers maybe three times a week, and with only a couple of months in, they started to break down. It's too bad because they provide great stability. Weightlifting is fine, but you can't use these for box jumps, rope climbs, or anything that might hurt the sole, which is delicate. Once something breaks or splits, the sole starts to disintegrate. A pair of $120 sneakers shouldn't last only four or five months.

I own two previous versions of this shoe. I bought the second pair based on feel alone, let’s face it, these shoes continue to fall off the ugly tree and hit branches. This new version of the metcon free couldn’t feel any different than my first two pairs. They were uncomfortable out the box, especially due to the giant horses hoof of a heel they opted for, major mistake. They also were tight, consider ive had the same size nikes for almost two decades, that was a bummer. What a waste of time for me, hopefully this review saves you.

I’m one of those wear running shoes to the gym type people, and I was hoping that these would convert me to a pair of true trainers. I don’t run enough to warrant an amazing pair of running shoes, however have grown to fall in love with how light many Nike fly knit shoes are. I struggle to wear bc another type of shoe. These were just too heavy for me, and the padding throughout the interior made my feet hot. They’re also quite stiff, which I assume is the point of trainers in he first place, I’m just not used to it. Especially during boxing workouts, I’d like to feel lighter on my feet. Hopefully I’m not the only one, and Nike makes a better all purpose shoe - attractive, light, flexible, and stable.
I was skeptic about the shoe when pictures first came out, but I got the shoe and its the best METCON FREE yet. It's comfortable and stable. Looks better on the feet than it did in retail pictures. YOU HAVE to keep in mind this is NOT a regular Metcon and serves a different purpose outside of Crossfit. It's a huge improvement from the first 2 versions in terms of comfort and for running. Not a great shoe for heavy powerlifting and olympic lifting, but this is a great training shoe for sports athletes that do a lot of running, agility work, and strength training in the gym. Also good for general gym enthusiasts looking for a stable shoe. Check out an honest, non-sponsored video review I just did. This would be a great shoe for coaches to wear. Make sure you size up ... MoreI was skeptic about the shoe when pictures first came out, but I got the shoe and its the best METCON FREE yet. It's comfortable and stable. This is an exceptional training shoe. Your foot actually goes down far-enough into the shoe that the high molded heel on the sides surrounds the back of your foot and keeps you stable. Meanwhile, the front of the shoe provides GREAT energy return while jumping rope and doing explosive movements. These are my new favorite shoes for double-unders. This is the best Free Metcon yet so far in my opinion, and I say this as someone who loved both of its predecessors.
First, I'm a woman that has big feet so I often purchase men's shoes. I was a little concerned these shoes would be a bit to wide in the ankle area and not fit snugly to my foot. These shoes fit like a glove! I normally order Men's 10 with Nike and that's what I ordered. My foot is a little wide and the width on this shoe is perfect. I've been doing my workouts (strength training, cardio, etc.) in them and they are great. Very supportive and cushioned for every type of workout. I love the color also.
I honestly wasn't in love with the look of this shoe initially. However it exceeded my expectations. The shoe is comfortable and the single piece of mesh upper gives you a unrestricted flex. The sole of the shoe is what is crazy about this shoe because it almost is two different shoes. The heel has a great sturdy base for lifting and the updated free design gives the perfect balance of flex and sturdiness. The free flex in the forefoot almost made burpees enjoyable. I'm a forefoot runner so I like the feel on a 400/800m run. If you are a heel-to-toe runner these may NOT be the shoe for you.
I've been on the search for some super stable/supportive shoes for training but still stylish. These are it. They're perfect for weight training of any kind and they're comfortable enough that I wear them around running errands after the gym. If you see the negative complaints on here its almost always because people are trying to use them for running and thats not what they're built for. The mouth runs a little smaller but I just wear them without socks and they're still super comfy. They're also incredibly light.
I got these as an every day shoe. When I first put them on, they were really snug. They are actually slip on shoes that have string for appearance..you can tighten it, but there is no loosening. They give great support and don't slip around when you walk. Of course, I have had several people stop me just to tell me how awesome they were (one actually said "Sick"). I wasn't sold on them whenI first put them on..they felt so tight. I gave it a day or two and now they are just perfect. I would buy these again.
