Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 Black/Atmosphere

The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 Black/Atmosphere is a running sneaker with a woven mesh upper that features a geometric pattern in Black and Atmosphere Grey. American athletic wear brand Nike is dedicated to the evolution of running shoes, having pioneered running sneakers in the 1970s, followed by the Air Max 1’s development in the 1980s. In the twenty-first century, Nike has developed ReactX foam midsoles, which provide additional cushioning, and they have refined their use of woven fabric to accommodate frequent wear zones, such as the toes. This Black/Atmosphere Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 presents a printed Nike Swoosh on the fabric and, completing the look, the midsole in Pink Blast. The White midsole features an airbrush-style coloration of black at the toe and white at the heel, accented by ZoomX branding. Our experts feel that the best feature of the Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 is its Pink Blast midsole, which is an unexpected detail. The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 Black/Atmosphere released on July 1, 2019, and retailed for $180.

Amazing!

I purchased a pair of Turbos for myself and have run about 120 miles in them. The Turbo 2s are amazing. I usually wear a 7.5 in women's, but I found when I tightened the laces there was uncomfortable bunching of the fabric on top of the toe box. I went down a half size and that solved the problem and the shoe fits comfortably. The zoom foam provides excellent cushion, but not overly soft. The Turbo 2 is responsive and bouncy! I enjoy running in these shoes so much that I've been using them for shorter distances 6 miles or less AND longer distances up to 11 miles . The Turbo 2s are so versatile! I am thinking of buying a 2nd pair for myself, just in case Nike decides to change the design. I think the Turbo 2s are perfect and I purchased these men's Turbo 2s for my son!

I have only worn these once but wanted to offer a couple thoughts for people interested in the shoe. I had the previous model and these are similar in terms of cutting a little time off my runs along with being pretty comfortable. The foam separated on my previous pair after a year or so and I see that is a common critique of this model as well. I know this model is not meant to be a stability shoe but the new one offers less stability than the previous edition. They were still pretty comfortable but I wanted to show what the foam looked like after ONE quick run in these. I don't have high hopes for the durability of these. I'll keep using them once or twice a week within the return window but can already see myself having to send them back.

Nike is my go-to brand for fitness attire and shoes, and I appreciate their ingenuity when it comes to their running shoe designs. While these shoes were very comfortable, fit well, and looked amazing, the foam on both shoes tore away at the heel after 30 days of use. I think it may have something to do with the extended foam "tip" at the back of the shoe. I also noticed that this "tip" acted as a shovel and would occasionally lift and launch pebbles and other small debris from the roads and into my legs while I ran.I am back on this site now getting a new pair. I find this experience to be rare when purchasing Nike, so don't let it dissuade you from purchasing their shoes. That said, I may avoid this model for awhile. Good but there’s room for improvement
13 June 2020

The sole of this shoe feels amazing for training at moderate paces. 6-8 min/mi) The outsole is phenomenal for road and track running, the ZoomX will lose return before the sole gives out, I’d estimate 300+ miles are possible on these. The biggest issue is the lacing system. There’s no padding on the tongue so the laces bite right at the part of your foot that flexes your ankle. If you prefer a tight lock down that would be unbearable. I had to go up a size from my casual/retro size. I’d love to see a 3rd version of the Pegasus turbo with the tongue issue addressed at a nicer lower price point. Some prefer the carbon or composite plate shoes but I prefer to run in different insoles for rigidity.

Jury's still out

Admittedly I owe these a few more workouts before making an ultimate assessment, but wanted to offer a few early reactions. I bought these to serve as my primary running shoe for Barry's workouts (treadmill and floor/bench weight work), but it seems they may be better suited to road running. They seem to encourage a great, bouncy stride for forefoot strikers. I'm a bit of a bit of a midfoot strikers, so these are definitely for tempo runs. One thing I noticed immediately is that they are VERY slippery, even on rubber mats. I realize this is likely due to some stripping back of the rubber tread, but beware those that run over slick surfaces or even in the rain. Also, the lacing system is...odd. I'm still working on the right fit that will prevent them from becoming ... MoreAdmittedly I owe these a few more workouts before making an ultimate assessment, but wanted to offer a few early reactions. My Favorite Shoe BUT HORRIBLE QUALITY
6 August 2020

First off I would like to say that this is by far my favorite running shoe! The Aesthetic and feel of the shoe just adds so much confidence when I wear them. The performance I get out of the light weight design is amazing! I loved these shoes so much that I took extra good care of my Pegasus Turbo 2. Kept a tide pen on me at all times and only wore them for special occasions or days I just wanted to feel so good in the gym/running! My first concern happened when after only 4 wears I noticed the foam was starting to crack; by this time I was past my 30 day return window and just prayed they would last and wore them very rarely. By my 15th wear (Never ran outside with them - only indoor gym work) The foam at the heel had ripped off from the shoe. It's still wearable but air gets trapped between the foam sole and bottom fabric which makes for interesting noises at times. Since then I can't really use them for running since it messes with my gait but I use these shoes now as my casual gym shoe. This shoe experience has been by far the most disappointing with Nike - my favorite shoe but the quality is not worth the price.

My favorite shoe since the LunarTempo
27 July 2020

Longtime runner here and I absolutely love these as well as the first version of the Turbo. I want to buy a few more pairs before they are discontinued. The cushioning is so soft yet responsive. I've had no issues with durability, as I've put close to 200 miles on these and have yet to see a single rip or tear in the upper or the sole. I will also say that I prefer the thinner upper compared the thicker upper that the first Turbo model had. No issues with the upper scraping my achilles either. Advice: untie your shoes and don't use the heels as handles to pull them off your feet. Wearers are complaining about the sole ripping off from the heal area and I think this can be solutioned by being a bit more gentle taking them off.

Really wanted to like them... but they fell apart
29 October 2020

So let me start off by saying that I love Nike and will continue to be a loyal customer. BUT these shoes were the biggest letdown. The durability of my pair was horrible. I purchased 2 pairs of the turbo 1 last year (one for training and one for racing) and rotated them between running workouts with no problems at all (I never use my running shoes work weight training). I bought 1 pair of the 2’s because my pair from last year is still completely fine and still rotate. In the past month and a half I have probably put in 60-80 miles, never in the rain or on gravel. Last weekend I went out for my long run and felt my right foot slipping, I just thought the laces were loose. Nope. There was a 4-5 inch ‘tear’ on the outside of the shoe where upper had completely torn ... MoreSo let me start off by saying that I love Nike and will continue to be a loyal customer. Needless to say I was/am incredibly upset about them as I was planning on wearing them for my Ironman in December. And well 180$ was flushed down the toilet. Won’t be buying a second pair and actively looking for a different shoe. Very long story short, I didn’t have a great experience with this shoe and wouldn’t recommend them for an endurance athlete.

Runs 1/2 size large
9 December 2019

These shoes definitely run a little big. I've been running for years with the exact same size, a perfect thumb width between longest toe and end of shoe. This toe box is absolutely longer than all my other previous nike running shoes. After wrapping my 10th mile I can confidently say I should have gone down 1/2 size. I might just bite the bullet and buy another pair.As for the midsole "ripping". DO NOT take your shoes off by holding the heel with your other foot and sliding out. The negative reviewers are clearly ripping the sole themselves. There's no way running would cause that. Untie your shoe and use your hands to remove.Lastly, the feel. They are fast and comfortable. Wonderful Running Shoe
3 June 2020

I have had these shoes since August 2019. I run about 40 miles a week, so I have put around 1,400 miles on these shoes. I typically would have gone through two other shoes by now, but these shoes have had amazing durability, so I haven't felt the need to upgrade. Amazingly, they still have tread on the bottom on them. This has been by far my favorite running shoe in the past decade. They're very comfortable and light with excellent traction on the pavement. The only sign of wear is the bottom of the heel is starting to separate. Look at the pics for clarification. If you're thinking these shoes aren't worth the money, I couldn't disagree more. This has been the best money I have spent on running shoes in a long time. I am going to buy the exact same shoe this month. ... MoreI have had these shoes since August 2019.
