Nikwax wash-in waterproofing is an easy way to restore multiple garments' water repellency with a simple machine wash. The machine wash ensures that the treatment goes right through all parts of the garment, including cords, seams, tapes, and fabric. This treatment develops when air dried, so leave to fully dry to get the best out of it. If your favourite wet weather clothing has been losing its ability to keep water out, Nikwax Wash-In Waterproofing can help extend its life. It's recommended to wash a maximum of two garments at once. This product is suitable for breathable fabrics, such as those found in Gore-Tex, SympaTex, eVent, Permatex, and Nikwax Analogy products. It also revives breathability and comes with easy-to-use instructions. The product is available in a 300ml size and is suitable for men's clothing.

Remember when you first bought the new tech jacket and the rain just pearled off the sleeves…and you thought, “this is the BEST jacket ever!” Then next Fall comes along and the jacket comes out of the closet and on the first rainy walk, the rain soaks in a bit. What the??? Then I found out that the jacket needs a re-vitalizing every so often. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but I can do a couple jackets with half the bottle. And then when I’m outside on a rainy day, I’m glad that the jackets do what they’re supposed to.

We just got finished treating all of our rain gear with Nikwax. First we washed all of the garments in the wash with Tech Wash. Next, we ran a cycle in the wash with the TX.Direct. We then dried all the garments in the dryer. Today, I walked to the bus stop in the rain and my rain jacket was like brand new. The water was immediately beading on the surface, compared to last week when it was soaking the surface with each rain drop. Just follow the directions and you'll see why people like this stuff in rainy areas.

I bought the two products you advise to take care of a waterproof jacket (Reversible raincoat - Sunglow) recently because, given the way that the world is going these days, when I actually need to use these products, 'supply chain issues' will probably mean that they are no longer available'.So, can't review the products but expect them to do what they say on the pack. As I now cannot get out of this rigmarole I will have to put something against the Size - Quality - Would Recommend boxes that is meant to indicate 'don't know yet - time will tell' but that option is not available. I hope you will understand.Sadly, I will be unsubscribing from your pleasant but persistent emails as, like most people I buy from these days (from Waitrose to Hotter shoes), they ... MoreI bought the two products you advise to take care of a waterproof jacket (Reversible raincoat - Sunglow) recently because, given the way that the world is going these days, when I actually need to use these products, 'supply chain issues' will probably mean that they are no longer available'.So, can't review the products but expect them to do what they say on the pack. I followed the instructions to the letter, hoping to revitalize my 2 rain jackets that were still in great condition but failing me in the rain. There was a warning on the container that some of the seam tape may come loose in places and can be just glued back on with clear glue. Not only did some of it come loose, much of it did, and the pockets on one of the jackets came loose at the bottom! Also, on this jacket, some of the laminated, irreparabale, lining was damaged. This is not an old jacket and has been gently worn (I'm a 72 year old female hiker, not a 20 something adventurer). The jacket is now ruined for rain - may serve as a windbreaker.Very disappointed with this product for which I had high hopes. I applied Nikwax tech wash + TX direct wash in following the instructions. 1 cap is 50ml I believe. I wish they indicated that literally… anywhere since they show that in their video instructions (doesn’t specify on the cap nor on the text instructions on the bottle…).To be more environmentally friendly, use less Nikwax and not have to clean out my washer after applying, I hand washed in my bath tub. Not ideal, less soaking effect than a bucket - which would have been better but it worked nonetheless. I measured 6L of water roughly using an empty 4L jug I had lying around.Rinsing was not so bad, I would squish out as much water as possible, let the waterfall rainshower head soak the fabric again, rinse and repeat a few times until the water was clear.1- Applied ... MoreI applied Nikwax tech wash + TX direct wash in following the instructions. 1 cap is 50ml I believe. On new well maintained shells, I feel this would work super great!Only looked at the washing instructions AFTER using the product, mine said: machine wash cold, apply water repellency spray on only - oops, still worked fine, better than what it was, it's super old gear that needs to be replaced anyway.
I swear by this. Use the tech was and then use this, and your rain jacket or waterproof garment is like new again! Most people tend to thing that waterproofing begins to fall apart or stop working after a while and claim they are getting wet. When in reality the waterproof layer is on the inside of the jacket and the wetting out they are seeing is the outer layer fabric designed for abrasion resistance soaking up water after the DWR coating wares down. The breathable membrane also becomes clogged preventing the moisture from escaping. Meaning they see the outer layer soaking up water and they feel their sweat, leading them to think the garment is no longer waterproof. However, a simple treatment with tech wash and then this DWR treatment makes it as good as new. No ... MoreI swear by this. We just finished treating a few rain and snow garments using two different methods to see which worked best. We used the TX.Direct Spray On and we also used this TX.Direct Wash-In. Both the spray-on and the wash-in worked just like a charm and we honestly couldn't tell any difference between the two. Once the jackets were dry, we poured water on all the garments and all of the garments that we treated did not allow any of the water to soak on the surface and instead rolled right off. We did follow Nikwax's directions and ran a full wash cycle first with Nikwax Tech Wash to "prep" the surface of the garment before adding in waterproofing. Having used the tech wash then this product as per instructions to try and reproof my tin cloth rain jacket, I found the coat actually less waterproof than before. I got totally soaked, albeit in heavy rain, over 100 metres. That was the distance to the shop to which I reported the problem, to be met with a couldn’t care less rather rude response. Back home I emailed customer care about the problem. The email wasn’t even acknowledged, never mind replied to. This was about a year ago and, finding you’ve still got this product on sale, I thought I’d try again. I can only surmise that most of the good reviews had tested their coats in rain. Bearing my previous experiences in mind, I don’t think this review will be published (it might be acknowledged if I’m really ... MoreHaving used the tech wash then this product as per instructions to try and reproof my tin cloth rain jacket, I found the coat actually less waterproof than before. And, sadly I haven’t bought very much from you since, as this has shadowed my previously excellent experience of your shop.
I used this product after washing two shells with Tech Wash. The shells were air dried in the basement. The first wet day on the slopes revealed a couple of wet spots where the shell failed to stop water from soaking through. The shell is an old beater. I'm convinced the product works, but I'll try again to see if I can waterproof the spots that allowed water to seep through. Next time I'll just do one shell at a time to hopefully get full coverage.
I've been using Nikwax for over 30 years and I have never had any issues. Fast forward to this year, using Tech Wash and TX.Direct has created spots, like oil spots (descriptive since it isn't oil based or anything, but you get the point) on several articles of clothes now: two The North Face FUTURELIGHT jackets, and two Montbell Gore-Tex Infinium rain jackets have spotting issues after using Tech Wash and TX. Direct. Rewashing with regular detergent and regular water did not resolve the issue. Nikwax hasn't provided a response, although TNF warrantied one jacket when I thought it was a one off issue with TNF jacket, but given the issue persisted with three other jackets, I'm narrowing it to Nikwax as the culprit. Nikwax hasn't provided a response, although TNF warrantied one jacket when I thought it was a one off issue with TNF jacket, but given the issue persisted with three other jackets, I'm narrowing it to Nikwax as the culprit. Oddly, a Gore-Tex Paclite Plus and Dry.Q rain pants did not exhibit the spotting despite being washed in the same load as the two Gore-Tex Infinium and FUTURELIGHT jackets. The spotting doesn't seem to affect waterproofing, since I did a water test in the area of spotting and there was no leakage. Not sure if affects breathability in those areas. Aesthetically it looks bad. Don't know if it is going to be permanent or temporary. I may return the jackets to see if the companies will warranty, which TNF did for the first jacket previously. Don't know if this is an odd chemical reaction or what to the inner layer, but given that Gore-Tex Paclite Plus is 2.5L and Dry.Q is 2.5L and didn't suffer from spotting, while Gore-Tex Infinium is 2L and FUTURELIGHT is 3L which did suffer from spotting, I don't see anything consistent about the issue. If it was a washing and drying technique issue (after over 30 years of use with no issues I can't see that as culprit), then it should have affected the two rain pants, too.
