A lot of the criticism levied against this product on here is unfounded. Is this powder the greatest thing ever? No. However much of the 'negatives' reflect customers who should not have purchased this product to begin with. I will attempt to explain why.First off, people say that it is "too foamy" when blended. Well, maybe you should buy a protein powder with a chemical in it to inhibit foaming.Second off, people say that it does not taste good. I think it's digusting how long the list is on a lot of the boutique powders, and if you ask a sales rep. what they do, they can only give you the company line- which is 90% of the time not even remotely medically accurate. It's basically cutting the stuff need to make more money. So, first ingredient here is Microfiltered Whey Protein. That's what you want, warts and all. Flavor, color, texture- if you wanted WPI- then deal with it. Second ingredient is Soy Lechithin which is less than 1% of the product (it says so on the packaging). That's for (brace yourself, big word coming up) emulsification. In other words, it keeps powder, well, powdery. It basically prevents the whey (milk product) from caking up or breaking down. It's basically in everything you eat.

75% protein trash. If all you are getting is 75% protein out of a protein isolate? you are drinking garbage!!I am a devoted NOW brand user (over 10 years and currently) and advocate. I am in fact biased to the Brand, and very brand loyal.Yet after my chosen protein powder was abolished from this site (ISO Sensation 93, here says it is discontinued, yet it seems to be available on UN site?)I began a hunt for a replacement, minimum requirement was 90%, but i tried the unflavored NOW on the selling point of many flavor combinations.I had 1 shake, with a horchata (vanilla and cinnamon) spin on it. Mixing was meh (I use a shaker bottle), sorry no good portable power options (really long extension cord?) for blenders on the road. Flavor was pretty good actually, no ... More75% protein trash. It was the bloated, cramping, crop-dusting (gas) mess that ensued that was horrific. Never had i experienced such results from a protein shake. Maybe it did not mix with something else I ate? I gave it 4 tries, 1 more than baseball rule. Threw out the remainder of the bag and will NEVER EVER drink this again. It is filled with too much TRASH to be considered a viable isolate in my book. Look elsewhere for a quality protein.Allstarheath (also biased to this amazing company) has plenty of options. Their Brand (BodyStrong) is better (if it is ever in stock) than NOW. It mixes just fine in a bottle, no 3-mile extension cord necessary. I DO NOT review on taste, it is too subjective, we are all different, and like different things.I see the review where a person mentioned fluid buildup in the eye from BodyStrong brand. That can be from a protein imbalance in your body, artificial sweeteners, too much sugar (what else was he eating?) LIKE ANY SUPPLEMENT, SEE YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING ANYTHING!

I trust the NOW Foods brand and have been using this Whey Protein Isolate for a couple of years. I love the fact that it is unsweetened and unflavored and only contains a small amount of sunflower lecithin as an added ingredient. It tastes great and makes smooth and creamy protein shakes. I tried some (very gritty) hemp protein powder, and could not wait to switch back to the NOW Foods whey protein! I feel like it helps build muscle better than other types of protein powders I've tried. A 10 pound container will last you a long time, but as long as you keep it in a dark, dry and cool place, I doubt its quality would deteriorate in any way. And, as always, thank you Vitacost for having the best price on this product (and many others)!
I like a good deal so I buy my whey through 3 criteria, No heavy metals, No artificial sweeteners, good grams of protein per dollar amount. I'll be honest, this tastes like how you'd expect an industrially extracted product would taste, really bad. But it is pure protein, no nasty stuff. So if you're broke or just want a really clean product with no junk in it, this one is the way to go. Also I'm a cook so I usually just take a food scale and add in whatever junk I wanna put in. (The best recipe I found was 56g of protein powder, 50 cals of a nut butter, 60ml of milk, pinch of salt, a glug of immitate vanilla, and 5g of coco powder, it goes right down the hatch)If you wanna be extra feral during cutting season, just blend it up with some water (AND DRINK FAST, DO ... MoreI like a good deal so I buy my whey through 3 criteria, No heavy metals, No artificial sweeteners, good grams of protein per dollar amount. I like NOW. I think they make good products for reasonable prices, and I don't think this whey is any exception. There's just one problem. I couldn't take one full scoop of this a day without having it cause HORRIBLE bloating and gas issues. Didn't matter whether I used a shaker, blender, or tried mixing it in my food, it would always happen. I've tried lots of different brands of powders over the years, and none of them had nearly as bad of a similar effect. Your mileage may vary, but I even tried buying a second bag of the same isolate to see if I may have gotten a bad batch the first time, and again, constant discomfort from it. If you're at all prone to the same types of issues, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
This is definitely one of the cleanest protein powders on the market and is a very good product. However, I do not recommend anyone just drink it with water. I have on multiple occasions, but only because I can stomach it. I usually prefer it mixed with other things such as fruit or peanut butter/banana.
This is a great protein. There are no additives, no chemicals like most. It has a high protein content and low cholesterol content so you know it is clean and pure. It mixes well and has very little flavor. You can mix it with anything you want and it wont change the taste of the other stuff. Equally important, it is a good value for quality protein.
Probably my favorite Whey protein Isolate. Smooth with no grit or salty flavor. No crazy blood sugar spike like others. If your looking for a whey protein isolate, try one of the now products. You will be glad you did.
A poor substitute for the "Natural Dutch Chocolate" that is far better tasting, has a much better mouth feel and a lot creamier. Dont know if it is no longer produced by NOW or not being stocked by All Star Health. or maybe a victim of the "supply chain problem" Im sure the nutritional benefit of whey protein isolate, which is after all the goal, is the same.. At the same time I like the dutch chocolate for the same reason I will never buy strawberry - personal preferences. Please try to add it back to the inventory.
