Okay so I’ve heard either terrible things about olaplex or amazing things. I decided to try it for myself and this is what I found: (it’s important to note that the majority of my hair is virgin and only the ends have leftover bleach from about three years ago, meaning a small section of my ends are semi-damaged)* How it washes: it lathers very well and you only need a little bit!! Don’t be like me and pour out a whole tablespoon because you will waste it. I found my hair to be squeaky clean after using this shampoo Conditioner: felt like any other conditioner, it rinsed out well and didn’t leave my hair feeling heavy Pros: - Hair has a bunch of shine and looks strong and fuller after one use - hair felt really clean - hair felt pretty soft except for my damaged ... MoreOkay so I’ve heard either terrible things about olaplex or amazing things. I think this line is good and it does feel like it added strength, shine and volume to my hair. I did use a deep conditioning mask in the shower because I feel like this product isn’t the most hydrating which is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. - I will update after further use, I wouldn’t recommend using this line as an everyday shampoo and conditioner. It feels more like a luxury once a week or even twice a month treatment than an everyday. - as mentioned, this isn’t the most hydrating hair line and I can see why people complain of hair loss using it as an everyday product!! Dryness leads to breakage and breakage leads to hair loss and short hair…. Use with caution and rotate with other hydrating shampoos and leave in masks.

Negative stars should be a thing. I thought that the people who had issues with this product were using it wrong, or doing something else that would make their hair fall out. My dermatologist hasn’t been able to prove the horrific cysts of acne on the back of my neck and hairline are olaplex yet, but she’s pretty suspicious that it is, due to not reacting to antibiotics, and it only started *after* I started using olacrap. Just wanted to leave this out in the open for anyone who might have these issues and not realize it’s this garbage we chose to put on our hair, and for people like me who previously thought the naysayers were just using it wrong. I can read the directions and follow them just fine- it’s this awful product. Before and after pictures for fun.

It takes time to find the right shampoo. This is a pricey shampoo that if it works for you, will be completely worth the price. I recommend starting with the sample sizes first. I know there are a lot of complaints that this caused their hair to become dry and brittle- tbh I think they are just using the wrong shampoo for their hair chemistry, have over-processed hair, or never use a heat protectant. I would be cautious on the reviews that start with, "I got my hair highlighted then started this shampoo"- The brittle/breakage could be a result of hair coloring. Also, if you look at the reviews of any other shampoo brand, all the negative reviews are the same : My Hair is Falling Out! It takes time to find the shampoo that best fits your hair chemistry. Also, if you look at the reviews of any other shampoo brand, all the negative reviews are the same : My Hair is Falling Out! It takes time to find the shampoo that best fits your hair chemistry. In the last three years, I have tried out 4 different brands. The first 3 caused the same complaints that many of these negative reviewers are claiming as well. Anyways, I use this once a week with No 5 Conditioner and daily use of the No 7 bonding oil. My hair has never felt softer and cleaner. It's been easier to style and I have noticed less breakage throughout the day. When I used Kirstin Ess shampoo I would have mass amounts of hair falling out and collecting in my lap. Nearly nothing with Olaplex. For reference to my hair type, I have a lot of fine hair, it is wavy, and I get a full set of highlights every 3 months with an occasional toner in-between visits.
Absolutely love this shampoo. For context, I wash my hair once a week, twice sometimes if I have plans and I still have my bottle from 6 months ago. It genuinely lasts me such a long time, which is how I justify paying the price. I am a few months into my hair journey and have noticed how much healthier my hair is from olaplex, my hair looks and feels so soft after I use olaplex. I highly recommend the shampoo, but also the conditioner that goes with it. My hair care routine is no3 leave in for hours, shampoo, conditioner or no8 (only on mid to bottom to hair) and I find that routine has been amazing for my hair - I also wash my hair with cold water and this routine has left my hair feeling amazing. I also have quite an oily scalp which has annoyed me for years as I often notice my hair is greasy again literally the next day, however with olaplex my scalp is not as oily and takes longer to get greasier. Will not lie and say it’s not expensive, however these bottles last me months and months and would rather pay more on good qualify products than spend less on store products. If you are looking to buy this product I would say that only invest if you are able to ideally get the conditioner or no8 to go with it as I feel they work best together. The no3 is my favourite from the range without a doubt. Also, a “downside” to this, I would say that if you are wanting to purchase olaplex that you commit to it. Before I would use store products, just shampoo and conditioner, no other oils etc and would leave it on for a minute or two before washing out. But with olaplex the products work better the longer you leave them on, particularly with no3, no8 and no5. So I would say using olaplex is a commitment, finding time to allow the products to sit in your hair. I normally put mine on and carry on with what I need to do that day with a cap on my head. Using good hair products and improving your hair is a commitment and does take time. Also, a mistake I made for a while was not lathering the shampoo up enough. I recommend getting hands wet, putting a small amount on and then lathering it up for a good 10 seconds to get maximum effect. I would really say it has a strong smell however, but leaves hair so soft and I always apply the oil after which leaves my hair smelling nice anyway.
You SHOULD NOT USE THIS SHAMPOO DAILY, it isn't meant for that... I use it about once a week with the Olaplex conditioner, but everyone should call the manufacturer to ask how they should use it for their hair type and condition. I've been using the entire line of Olaplex products for about 6 years, and it's saved my hair!!! It could save yours too if you RESEARCH HOW TO USE EACH, INDIVIDUAL PRODUCT... *MOST OLAPLEX PRODUCTS ARE CHEMICAL FORMULATIONS AND ABSOLUTELY MUST BE WASHED OUT!!! FYI: Olaplex 1 & 2 are used during (professional) processing, coloring/bleaching. These "patented" CHEMICAL formulas are used, at different times during the processing and toning stages of hair coloring, to repair hair bonds as they break. Yes, bonds that bond/hold your hair together, on a molecular level. This is why Olaplex is patented and AMAZING!!! Olaplex 0 & 3 are meant to be used together, and mimick Olaplex 1 and 2, but at home, without bleach/color. These two formulas are also meant to be used on a weekly basis, and MUST BE SHAMPOOED OUT!! Olaplex 3 can be used without 0. If your hair is breaking, falling out, stiff and brittle, etc it's because you are not using thee product correctly... I don't mean to sound harsh, but I'm reading review after review where people are having terrible experiences, because they aren't using the products properly, and then blaming a product that has changed the hair color world!!! I can't tell you how much I wish this was available when I was younger. Remember, also, even your hairdresser might not know how you should use Olaplex. I was one of the lucky ones, because my colorlist, in Los Angeles, is a rockstar!!! Just like Olaplex he is worth his weight in gold! He saved my hair AND explained how to use #3, which was the only other product I could buy for home use so it was really impressed upon me that these were chemicals that needed to be washed out and only needed to be used on a weekly basis or during coloring. My hair: I have a lot of very long, fine wavy to curly hair dishwater blonde hair that I've been lightening and toning silver sand aka. platinum (like the record, not the snow) for many years. Because my hair isn't oily, and the quality products I use, I only need to shampoo/conditioner, blowdry and straighten my hair about once a week, and maintains it's shiny, straightened style.
Alright I have seen so many mixed reviews about this product but read this if you are planning on getting this for yourself or someone else: I would give this a solid 2 stars because I don't think it's the best shampoo out there. There are still some positives which I will start off with: It has a really fresh scent that smells like light citrus fruit which I really liked. I also like the packaging because I personally think it looks really pretty and you don't need too much product when using it, depending on your hair type though. Now, the negatives: I saw this product so many times on social media and I finally gave in and tried it. I won't be repurchasing as I have lost lots of hair when using this, and I'm talking chunks. My other shampoo that I used before never had this problem so I think there needs to be some changing here. Another thing is the price, which needs to go down. In my opinion, I don't think it's worth $41 CAD because the only good thing about the actual product is the scent and how it's environmentally friendly. Overall, would not repurchase, won't recommend, but if you're super rich, you should buy it for the scent. Shampoos I would recommend are Ouai Detox Shampoo (more expensive) or OGX ones (less expensive). I have straight brown medium length hair. (sorry for repeating so many of the same words)
This product is NOT AUTHENTIC OLAPLEX! I have purchased Olaplex from the original company and from salons and this shampoo I received through this seller from Walmart provided what appears to be a very poor and obvious imitation! The scent, consistency, color and packaging is wrong and I noticed it immediately. There is writing from a foreign country on the label and even the bottle is not the same as the original authentic brand, but it came close enough where some people may not realize it if they have never used OIaplex before as I have. Olaplex shampoo is normally very thick, off white with an amazing scent, and what I received is nothing like Olaplex, instead it was thin, yellow in color and the scent was not the same. I do not know what I would be putting on my hair or what is in this version. I should have known because it was priced below the normal $28 purchase price which is rarely if ever marked down. Olaplex is an amazing brand and what I received from this Walmart Marketplace seller was nothing like the other Olaplex products I have purchased before. I am awaiting my refund and will never purchase Olaplex anywhere else like Walmart sellers other than authorized salons and reliable sellers like Ulta even if it requires paying retail price, it's worth it.
Important: I do believe Olaplex is right for some hair types and skin types, so this is for people who share my texture only. My hair is chemically treated (highlights), medium strand thickness, thick overall, and wavy. I used bond maintenance for half of a bottle, shampooing no more than twice weekly and making sure not to over-lather, as this is a super concentrated product (+1 for value.) I finally stopped because I belatedly connected the dots about why I was getting painful pimples and comodones on my scalp and nape, when usually my scalp is fine. When I read that dimethicone causes skin rash in some people, I immediately stopped using Olaplex and switched to a salicylic acid shampoo to help heal my scalp and remove the buildup that was clogging my hair ... MoreImportant: I do believe Olaplex is right for some hair types and skin types, so this is for people who share my texture only. Dramatic reduction in hair loss within 2 shampoos, and my acne is drying out. My hair has a nice wave to it that I can enhance with minimal product, scrunching, and blow drying. Since using Olaplex my hair is weirdly straight and too soft to hold any wave except with loads of product, which I avoid. I basically need a whole new cut and style until my hair grows out in a few years and has some wave again. This isn't buildup- it's a structural change in my hair follicle. I get how this could be very desirable to people who like keratin-type treatments, but it's the opposite of my desired wave. Mostly this is my fault for not piecing together what was happening to my hair and skin until I was a few months into using this product. Just want to warn others before they use too much.
My hairdresser recommended I switch over to Olaplex's shampoo and conditioner after I said I was looking for a good sulphate-free shampoo. I'd already used Olaplex 3 and always get the in-salon treatments, so tried them out. Sure enough, they do the job. My hair is always clean and feels conditioned and smoother after washing and conditioning, and the sulphate-free formulation means my hair and scalp have gotten much less greasy. For reference, I've been able to go from washing my hair daily or every other day to twice a week. The result has been less damaged hair that doesn't need heat styling as often. I also don't have to use much product at all, maybe a ten-pence size amount of each for hair down to my mid chest, as they lather/spread so well. Which is good, because it's not cheap! The hair mask is great too. It really does leave my hair feeling deeply moisturised and conditioned in just ten minutes, and I find, in combination with Olaplex 3 and hair oiling, that my hair is silky and much less frizzy for days after. The mask *is* intensive though; if you're grease-prone like me, don't put much on the roots and use no more than once a week. Your hair will end up weighed down.
