I have been using OlaPlex since 2019. I recently found out about the court cases and allegations against the company from over 30 plaintiffs, but I had thought I had been using their products for so long just the regular bond maintenance shampoo and conditioner for the last five years, that may be the product was just good for me. The last time I was in the store I saw that they had the clarifying shampoo, and I had never seen it before. At the time I was having trouble feeling like my hair was getting greasier than normal and like the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner were too heavy, so I decided to try the clarifying one, hoping it would fix that issue. I have been using the shampoo for at least. Recently, my scalp has started to flake and it honestly feels uncomfortable and painful. The flakes are dry skin and my scalp is sensitive. I put some hair oil and scalp oil in my scalp and I can feel the relief but it has made my scalp very dry and sensitive, and I believe I have been shedding more than normal as well so I can see how it may contribute to hair loss. I decided to change shampoo today and I'm hoping for the best.

Although I had a positive experience with the Olaplex No 3 Bond Builder, I was less impressed by the regular shampoo & conditioner. However, I still wanted to give the Clarifying shampoo a try.For context, I have thin, color-treated hair with an oily and easily irritated scalp.PACKAGING & APPLICATION:Like most Olaplex products, the packaging of the clarifying shampoo is super minimal. As someone with low vision, I appreciate that the bottle is blue because it makes it easier for me to identify in the shower (whereas the original shampoo & conditioner were more difficult to differentiate). Again, like Olaplex’s other bottles, you have to store this upside down to fully use all of the product. The texture of the shampoo feels almost gel-like - it isn’t too runny ... MoreAlthough I had a positive experience with the Olaplex No 3 Bond Builder, I was less impressed by the regular shampoo & conditioner. The product lathers easily in my hands and on the scalp. I don’t notice any residue or buildup, nor do I find that this is stripping to my color-treated hair.I typically use 1X a week - sometimes 2X pending on my need.RESULTS:Is this the best clarifying shampoo I’ve tried? No - but I do find it gentle on my actual strands. In the past, I’ve struggled with formulas that have been great at helping to remove buildup on my scalp and relieving itchiness, but some of those formulas have made my hair feel like straw. I find that this formula does a great job at clarifying the scalp without making h hair feel super brittle or dry.WOULD I REC?Yes - I would repurchase and I would recommend this to oily-scalp gals who want to have an Olaplex routine but find the OG formula too heavy.

This really works as a detoxing shampoo and removes product build up etc from your hair! It's a great weekly shampoo for that purpose and my hair felt less greasy on day 2 of no wash. If used anymore than once weekly it's likely to dry out your hair given it does strip and clarify. The only hesitation is the price! You can get similar results from cheaper options. Saying that the bottle did last a good few months using once a week. Definitely worth a try and even better if got on discount. If you have naturally dry hair you might find it abit harsh. But oiler hair types will for sure appreciate this.

I only wash my hair about once a week (depending on what im doing) and used to just double wash with the original Olaplex formula. I was worried that this clarifying formula would be too harsh for my fine hair, but its not at all. My hair is left perfectly clean and soft! I follow with the olaplex conditioner and then the no.9 serum before brushing out and it makes the brush glide like butter with minimal breakage. It's an absolute game changer if you do oil hair masks. I couldn't wash out all the oil even with a heavy double wash. This clarifying shampoo had no problem cleaning out any residues. This is a finer, lighter shampoo than the regular Olaplex shampoo. If that is too heavy for your hair, this is a light shampoo by comparison. It gives a good cleanse and is gentle on the hair and scalp. It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin nor does it dry my hair or scalp out. The scent is mild and not overpowering, it's soft and pleasant. It does give a better cleanse than the standard Olaplex shampoo, but I like both. My favorite way to use this is to use this for the first wash, then standard Olaplex shampoo for the 2nd wash. I use it for both washes if I need more clarifying, only the first wash if I need less. It works well with any conditioner. But I do like to use Olaplex conditioner afterward. However, I do think Redken's Clarifying shampoo does give a deeper clarifying cleanse (the one in the grey tube or larger bottle). It is stronger and a bit harsher. I use it for the first wash when I use it and usually follow up with Redken Volume Injection shampoo (2nd wash) and conditioner. (This is what BlowoutProfessor on YouTube suggests, how to use a clarifying shampoo, first wash only unless you need a stronger cleanse. Highly recommend him and his work.)
I've been using this product for a few weeks now, and I'm absolutely in love with the results. My hair has never felt this soft, smooth, and manageable. The formula is lightweight and doesn't weigh my hair down, which is a huge plus for me since I have fine hair. It also adds a beautiful shine without making it look greasy. I've noticed a significant reduction in frizz, even on humid days, and it smells amazing too! A little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts a good while. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable hair solution. It's a game-changer for sure!
Well, it definitely strips everything!I wanted to try a clarifying shampoo because I do regular oil treatments on my scalp. This has has made my hair super flat, heavy and no matter how much I washed it my hair would become greasy the next day. After only one use, my regular hair is back. My hair is super light and all the extra oil buildup is gone.I would definitely recommend using a hair mask after this shampoo to protect your end, as I found it very drying - which is to be expected from a shampoo that strips build up and natural oils off your hair strands.Overall this is my first time using a clarifying shampoo so to compare it to other brands I wouldn't be too sure on but I would definitely recommend this product as I could tell the difference right away ... MoreWell, it definitely strips everything!I wanted to try a clarifying shampoo because I do regular oil treatments on my scalp. The product does exactly what it says it does. I like it. I'm taking off two stars because I received a used product. When I got the shampoo in the mail it was spilled all over all of my other products in the box and it didn't have a safety seal on it. I started to second guess myself and wondered if it was even supposed to come with a seal. However, when they sent the replacement, sure enough there was a safety seal on it which means they sent me a used product the first time. This is the second time this has happened to me at Sephora. Last year during the Sephora sale I ordered the hair care favorites kit, and all of the products had been used, were missing the safety seals, were open and had spilled all over the box.
I love this detox shampoo, it's the strongest I've ever used. I would compare it most closely to the Bumble and Bumble Sunday, not just for the color but also for how strong of a cleanser it is and the feeling it leaves. I always double shampoo my hair, as it takes two washes to get everything out regardless of what shampoo I am using. When I use this one I still double shampoo but I use significantly less shampoo and more water on the second because this lathers so incredibly well once your scalp is clean. It is a salon quality shampoo so it's very thick. You really only need about a quarter/dollar coin sized amount and after you apply it to your scalp, take some water in your hands and mix them in to make the shampoo more manageable. As I and many others have ... MoreI love this detox shampoo, it's the strongest I've ever used. You really only need about a quarter/dollar coin sized amount and after you apply it to your scalp, take some water in your hands and mix them in to make the shampoo more manageable. As I and many others have mentioned, it is very strong. Since I have curly hair I use leave-in conditioners, oils, and curl creams/gels plus I do a deep oil pre-wash routine. I also only wash my hair once, maybe twice a week. Hence, I use this shampoo about once every month or two (I sub in a slightly less aggressive clarifying shampoo in between if I go two months) and it's amazing. I'm sure if I were to use it any more often than that, I would be looking at the drying issues many other users have discussed. However, the feeling of squeaky clean hair after use it always amazing. My scalp feels clean and refreshed, not tight or irritated, and my hair does genuinely squeak a little before I condition. I find I can often pair a mask and conditioner after since they can penetrate easier with less gunk on the hair.
