I don't know why some are having issues. Bleaching will absolutely blister your scalp and cause bald patches and breakage. No amount of olaplex or any other product can completely fix that. I maintain lavender hair so go to the salon every couple of months to lighten my roots only. I've been doing this for literally years. This year the only change was Ulta started carrying Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. I started using it once every couple weeks but since the bottles said it could be used daily, once I ran out often other shampoo and conditioner, I started using this more often. I'd use it once or twice a week. I started noticing some very bad breakage around the crown of my head, so of course thinking my hair needed more help I started using this almost daily. I don't overprocess, just lighten my roots routinely. I'm so upset and disappointed with this stuff. But hey, at least it smells good. I'll go back to Verb Ghost and Redken.

I went back few weeks later for another toner. She used olaplex as before and again my hair felt super dry and this time felt matted underneath. Again, I thought maybe it's from the toner. Since I had to wait longer to get my highlights I bought the No. 5 Bond conditioner along with the No.4P blonder enhancer. The first wash I lost a lot of hair in the shower and my hair felt matted underneath after I got out and brushed my hair. I didn't think Olaplex caused me to lose so much hair in just two washes until I took pics of my hair from underneath. Literal bald spots!! I do not know if I had already lost quite a bit when the stylist used in me because I obviously couldn't see and she didn't say anything (not sure if she would). I have never had hair loss issues, especially this drastic! Olaplex might be for others but definitely not for me! Horrible experience and I'll never use again. I'm currently taking supplements to help my hair growth.

I bought almost every product Olaplex makes because I was trying to grow out my blonde curly hair and was making decent progress. My hairdresser recommended this and Ulta had just started carrying the line.I noticed not difference after using the spray and leave in treatment. The shampoo made my hair feel dry. The conditioner had good slip and I thought it was alright. The bonding oil is nothing special and verb ghost oil is much better for my hair and half the price.HOWEVER after a couple month of using this I couldn't understand why I was losing so much hair in the shower and why my hair seemed SHORTER and thinner than before. This line made a ton of my hair fall out and DAMAGED my hair.Olaplex is not worth the hype and definitely overpriced.I threw my bottles in the trash and repurchased the Restore shampoo and conditioner from Living Proof (which is amazing and an old favorite) to try to salvage my dry, brittle and now THINNER hair.
Olaplex hair care is turning my hair goals into success.I struggled with my hair care up until now. I saw my friend using it and I immediately wanted to try it because it made her hair look so nice and healthy.I use their shampoos and conditioners, their bonding oil, and their hair mask. They have numbers for certain hair goals and it didn't take me long to find the right one for me. On the website they have description on their products and what numbers do the best for you. This can lead you do find the type of hair care your hair needs.I'm a bright blonde so it is tricky to find the right products to keep that color. Olaplex doesn't make my color last any less. So for people who have colored hair and worry about it this is for you. Before the using this line my hair color only lasted about 3 weeks. This is such a fast fade. After using the products my hair has kept up with the color and had lasted longer than 3 weeks. I consistently use their purple shampoo once a week.Other shampoos and conditioners fade my bright blonde hair. This was so frustrating because then I would have to go back for so many more appointments then I needed. Olaplex keeps my hair bright blonde and maintains it.Although they are expensive and come in medium sized bottles I think they are still worth it. The shampoo and conditioner are 30 dollars each. This isn't so bad because you get away with using just little blobs that goes a long way. The shampoo is number 4 and the conditioner is number 5.The next product I use is the number 8 bond intense moisture mask. This mask sits in my damp hair for 10 mins. After that I go back in with my shampoo and conditioner. This makes my hair styleable and has more body. This keeps my hair shiny, smooth, and healthy. This product is also 30 dollars. I think this price might be a little much because it comes in a smaller bottle. But in the end process it is giving you what you are looking for. I usually use this hair mask once a week. I try to use it at the beginning of the week to get it prepped for the week full of styling. The next product I use is the bonding oil. This product is made for dry or wet hair. It is a heat protectant, detangler, enhances shine, and reduces frizz. For me this product met all the criteria. The bonding oil number is 7. The smell of this product is great.I mainly use this product when I get out of the shower to help detangle my hair and keep the frizz away for the morning. This keeps me waking up with my hair staying shiny. I also use it when I'm about to style my hair when it is dry. I only put it on my ends and then I continue to style my hair and apply heat. Now this product is also 30 dollars. I think this one is way overpriced because it is a super tiny container. Especially if you use it every single night. My hair before has been rough. Split ends after split ends, dry hair, and washing it constantly. My hair has always had terrible split ends and it was so hard for me to figure out why. After trying so many different products I finally feel like I found what helps me the most.Since I get my hair dyed and style it so often it does go through a lot of damage. Continuing sports as well makes it hard for me to not wash it as much so it doesn't get as dry. Bur after finding what I needed this is perfect. But overall I think the brand is perfect for people who need this type of hair care. It is also great because their line is made for every hair type, it just depends on the condition of your hair.
It takes time to find the right shampoo. This is a pricey shampoo that if it works for you, will be completely worth the price. I recommend starting with the sample sizes first. I know there are a lot of complaints that this caused their hair to become dry and brittle- tbh I think they are just using the wrong shampoo for their hair chemistry, have over-processed hair, or never use a heat protectant. I would be cautious on the reviews that start with, "I got my hair highlighted then started this shampoo"- The brittle/breakage could be a result of hair coloring. Also, if you look at the reviews of any other shampoo brand, all the negative reviews are the same : My Hair is Falling Out! It takes time to find the shampoo that best fits your hair chemistry. In the last three years, I have tried out 4 different brands. The first 3 caused the same complaints that many of these negative reviewers are claiming as well.Anyways, I use this once a week with No 5 Conditioner and daily use of the No 7 bonding oil. My hair has never felt softer and cleaner. It's been easier to style and I have noticed less breakage throughout the day. When I used Kirstin Ess shampoo I would have mass amounts of hair falling out and collecting in my lap. Nearly nothing with Olaplex. For reference to my hair type, I have a lot of fine hair, it is wavy, and I get a full set of highlights every 3 months with an occasional toner in-between visits.
You SHOULD NOT USE THIS SHAMPOO DAILY, it isn't meant for that... I use it about once a week with the Olaplex conditioner, but everyone should call the manufacturer to ask how they should use it for their hair type and condition. I've been using the entire line of Olaplex products for about 6 years, and it's saved my hair!!! It could save yours too if you RESEARCH HOW TO USE EACH, INDIVIDUAL PRODUCT...*MOST OLAPLEX PRODUCTS ARE CHEMICAL FORMULATIONS AND ABSOLUTELY MUST BE WASHED OUT!!! The rest are chemicals.FYI: Olaplex 1 & 2 are used during (professional) processing, coloring/bleaching. These "patented" CHEMICAL formulas are used, at different ... These "patented" CHEMICAL formulas are used, at different times during the processing and toning stages of hair coloring, to repair hair bonds as they break. Yes, bonds that bond/hold your hair together, on a molecular level. This is why Olaplex is patented and AMAZING!!!Olaplex 0 & 3 are meant to be used together, and mimick Olaplex 1 and 2, but at home, without bleach/color. These two formulas are also meant to be used on a weekly basis, and MUST BE SHAMPOOED OUT!! Olaplex 3 can be used without 0.If your hair is breaking, falling out, stiff and brittle, etc it's because you are not using thee product correctly...I don't mean to sound harsh, but I'm reading review after review where people are having terrible experiences, because they aren't using the products properly, and then blaming a product that has changed the hair color world!!! I can't tell you how much I wish this was available when I was younger. Remember, also, even your hairdresser might not know how you should use Olaplex. I was one of the lucky ones, because my colorlist, in Los Angeles, is a rockstar!!! Just like Olaplex he is worth his weight in gold! He saved my hair AND explained how to use #3, which was the only other product I could buy for home use so it was really impressed upon me that these were chemicals that needed to be washed out and only needed to be used on a weekly basis or during coloring. My hair: I have a lot of very long, fine wavy to curly hair dishwater blonde hair that I've been lightening and toning silver sand aka. platinum (like the record, not the snow) for many years. Because my hair isn't oily, and the quality products I use, I only need to shampoo/conditioner, blowdry and straighten my hair about once a week, and maintains it's shiny, straightened style.
Background: I have thin, color treated hair that due to a blood disorder, breaks easily and falls out. I've always used premium hair products, but my stylist recommended I try Olaplex. I purchased the system 3, 4, and 5. The first couple of days I was disappointed, as the products didn't seem to do much and my hair seemed to tangle more easily. I have to wash my hair daily, as it tends to be oily. Typical hair products weigh my hair down, so I only use a lightweight leave in conditioner daily. After a week or so, the tangles started getting easier to manage. I noticed my hair didn't seem as oily after 24 hours. After 30 days of Olaplex, I was mad at myself for spending the $$ and ready to go back to Redken & Pureology. However, my stylist told me to give it 60 days ... I kept with it, and I am SO glad I did. My hair no longer is breaking or falling out, and is in noticeably better shape than it's been in years. It's shiny and combs through easily when wet or dry. I still wash it daily, but I feel that it's much less greasy feeling in the mornings. If you're new to Olaplex, absolutely give it a full 60 days to see a difference!! A little goes a long way, especially with the shampoo. Five stars, I'll not be going back to any other premium brand of hair product. I'm in love with Olaplex!
I bought the mini Olaplex shampoo and conditioner in hopes that it would help restore my damaged hair. Seeing the price of the full size bottle I opted for buying the travel/small ones, especially since it would be my first time trying it out. I had high hopes for the duo and boy was I wrong. At first after the shower, my hair felt smooth and soft, then maybe after about an hour or so my scalp began to feel itchy. I didn't think much of it at first but then it started getting out of control to the point where I was starting to itch and claw at my scalp nonstop. At this point I knew something wasn't right and washed it off immediately with my usual shampoo. Total instant relief afterwards. Stay away from this product, or if you still dare to try it out, be very cautious and discontinue use as soon as you notice any signs of scalp irritation. Even though I only used it one day and washed it off within a few hrs, it took about a week or two for my scalp to fully heal from the irritation :/
This is really that bad. Chemically burned my hair. Saying this is a good conditioner is a joke. This company is wrong for this. People are making fake reviews and wrote what someone wrote but said the exact opposite and that it's so amazing and is clearly like defending the product. Be careful and don't listen to people who act like they are scientists and know everything. Smart people know they don't know everything. I want to say it could be an upset hair stylist who's career has been affected (just to mention salons get sponsored by hair care brands) but it could just be a random women who sees herself as a hair connoisseur bc she's probably a skin connoisseur as well. This should be a wake up call for people including hair stylists. Just because this was a ... MoreThis is really that bad. Chemically burned my hair. Saying this is a good conditioner is a joke. Just because this was a product everyone desperately needed doesn't mean you should still support it when peoples hair is legitimately getting chemically burned. This isn't just some people just having a reaction it's a lot. I also got the rash and I don't usually have any allergy issues. I think everyone should monitor how they're reacting to something whether that be hair care or anything and just pay attention to if it's actually helping and if it's not helping just stop using it. The whole "it takes time" is dangerous and isn't true you should notice a positive difference immediately in my opinion and it's best way to just be safe.
