I fed my puppy Origen from the very beginning. I was convinced I was giving him the best kibble on the market. Boy was I wrong! As a puppy he would occasionally vomit bile in the middle of the night. I attributed it to an empty stomach. At 2, gradually his hip bones and ribs started protruding.I was feeding him according to guidelines and even gave him a little extra, but he was looking emaciated as time went on . The vet confirmed it was muscle wasting and his kidneys were in early failure. There is no doubt if I kept him on Origen he wouldn’t be here. Don’t be fooled by the price, ingredients, or false advertising on the bag. I switched to PPP and his muscle mass quickly improved, no more vomiting, loose stools, and his labs are back to normal.

My 8lb ShihTzu has always been fed Orijen, but when this formula came out, I decided to try it. I found after switching to the Small Breed Formula, the stinky, eye drainage completely stopped, as well as her stinky feet. Neither issue was a big problem, just slightly annoying, but I was pleased that both issues were resolved. Gracie is now 7yrs old, FULL of energy and very healthy. I free-feed and her weight is perfect, and steady, she eats amazingly small amounts. I find that the 4lb bag lasts 7+ weeks. Also the quality of her hair coat has improved since the switch from the original Orijen formula to the Small Breed Formula.

I had been feeding them Grain-Free Large Breed since I made the switch from with grain to grain-free food, so about a year and a half ago now. They both love the food, but I thought it was time to take them both off of the Puppy diet, so this was the next best thing. I have an idea that I will rotate Orijen's dry offerings (regional red,six fish, high protein) so they aren't eating the same food all the time. My only fear is that one or both of them won't like it, and it's an expensive risk to take. They very seldomly get table scraps, since my 19breed wonder was showing signs of becoming overweight slightly. I love Orijen for my guys, and my Vet was glad to hear that's what my food of choice was, and I see they recently upped the price which is highly disappointing. Instead of it costing $200/month to feed my guys, it seems like it will be more like $220 now, but I will stick with Orijen while highly recommending it. The reason my guy needs grain-free, is because he was having issues with his an@l glands, and it was painful, stinky, and expensive to maintain his comfort at the Vet's office. Once I switched to grain-free and included a tablespoon of organic pumpkin everyday, the problem miraculously disappeared. Also, I love that Orijen is made here in the U.S, and with U.S grown and raised ingredients. It is a 30min drive to my nearest Petco, and they are the only Pet Store in the area that carries Orijen products. Thank you, Petco, for making this high quality feed available to us in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. It is much appreciated. Also, the staff at the Wilkes-Barre store is dedicated, kind, friendly and incredibly helpful. I will gladly continue to make the 30min drive twice a month to the store. I thought about using the auto ship feature, and may eventually do so in the future.

For Small breeds 10lbs-25 lbs, not for the Teacups
1 December 2023

I want to try this for my Teacup Yorkie puppy and the Kibble size for the Orijen Small Breed is still too big. HSD Small & Mini Kibble works in size, but I desperately wish Orijen had a Small Breed Puppy bag with smaller sized kibbles. I’m not sure if this Small Breed is ok for Puppies or not. They have a different Puppy variants for Large but none for Small Breed Puppies Specifically. Really disheartening that Orijen doesn’t have a Small Breed Puppy food with 5-6cm Kibbles.

Happy Dog!
23 January 2024

When we adopted Suzi we were given a bag of brand "S" dog food. She was reluctant to eat it, fled from it, and I gave it away. We tried other dog foods and she'd show some interest at first but we'd wind up having to douse it with hot water and make a gravy so she'd eat it. And she rarely finished a bowl of it. Several top-tier brands. Then I did some reading and tried Orijen. And she loved it. Still loves it. No mixing, coaxing, tricks, or bribery. She knows her feeding schedule and sits in front of the appropriate closet at the designated times. It's pricey so I wait for a coupon. Thanks for the coupons, Petco. Happy/healthy dog.

Pup No Eat
15 June 2024

My pup won't eat this food. However, that is no fault of Chewy's nor is it likely to be Orijen's. He has been spoiled with cooked meals for a couple of years now. I may have to try to buy a food processor and attempt to make a gravy out of all the food I bought. If that doesn't work, I will donate them.I can not attest to freshness, the taste or if the ingredients are as they say they are. The kibbles were just a bit thinner than average. Not too much. Your pup may love this food if they are used to kibble. Given the price, I'd hope they would!

Quality food

We switched to Orijen about four days ago and are extremely glad we did! Fortunately, we're able to just leave food in their bowls and they eat when they're hungry. Well the girls (Chihuahuas, an 8yr old and puppy) gobbled it down and begged for seconds. They had zero interest in their old food, which we mixed in w/the Orijen.Per Vet suggestion, the 8yr old has been on Sensitive Stomach food since we got her. I know it's only been four days, but there haven't been any issues. Orijen doesn't smell like other dog foods either. We started with Blue Buffalo, then to Hills Science Diet, now Orijen and Orijen has the best ingredients. Both humans and dogs are very satisfied!

Orijen has not held it's reputation and I will no longer be a customer of their brand for this specific reason.Even their cat food gave my cats diarrhea at some point. We vouched for food from our local grocery store and they are doing significantly better. I am very disappointed in this product and hope that the harm that it has caused on my animals is short term.

NOT COOL. The problem with MARS buying out a fantastic company (champion food) is they only care about shareholders so they do things to make more profit. Including worse ingredients and reducing the amount of food you get AND upping the price. That’s my little gripe about champion foods. We are starting to see an ever slight downhill trend, we shall see in a couple years how the ingredients change and price. With all that being said I still think this is the best product you can get on the market(in this price range) and is still superior to other kibbles. If I could afford it I would be buying carna4 but not the price for me.For those looking to try orijen I say give it a go. Watch the YouTube video on how orijen makes the food. It’s amazing. And it’s probably why my dog actually eats the food.
