I will admit, that the first few times I tried it, the scent almost seemed nonexistent. Aside from the quieter projection, I also realized that I was going anosmic to it whenever I tried smelling it right off skin. However, in the air, you really start to appreciate what this fragrance has to offer, and that it will still have the ability to pull compliments, like all the other versions of 1 Million. For anyone familiar with 1 Million, this is probably the most mature release. The DNA is there, but it doesn’t come across as the loud, overly sweet, and somewhat obnoxious clubbing fragrance, that people are used to from the line. The overall performance is still great, some people are getting 10+ hours, with low/moderate projection for around 5-6 hours. The projection may seem low to the person wearing it, but it leaves quite an amazing scent trail. It’s not my favorite from the 1 Million line, but Paco Rabanne is known for releasing consistent, high-quality, mass-appealing and modern fragrances, and 1 Million Royal is no exception.

In the beginning of the dry down is where I notice some added complexity and balance to the otherwise warm scent, coming from Lavender - creating a layer of aromatic, green, fresh spiciness and Violet Leaf - that has a herbal ozonic quality - almost reminiscent of cucumber. Towards the end of the dry down the Cedar, Sage, and Patchouli start to become peak through, I wish they came sooner and were a bit more prominent, but I’m glad they’re in the room with us! I love the mildly peppery aspects and savouriness from the sage, and the Patchouli smelling rich, dark, sweet and earthy in combination with the smooth woody profile of the cedar. At the very least I’d recommend testing this in store to see if you like this, it’s a great Winter fragrance, and mass appealing. This has really great longevity (8-10 hours) and pretty monster silage compared to other releases from this line. As per the packaging - I love the bottle! It’s over the top, but feels well made and not like a piece of junk that’ll fall apart. Plus the atomizer is great. Thanks Paco Robanne 😉
