First off, this is an excellent warm mid-weight fleece. The only thing I would have like is if it had pockets for my hands as I tend to have cold hands but not a show stopper. The sizing is a bit tricky so let me try to detail here. I am 5’11 and 175lbs with an athletic build. Considering this is used in fall and winter in the US north east, I would be wearing this over a tshirt and light long sleeve shirt. The Medium is to tight in this scenario but might be ok if I only had a T-shirt on. I found that the Large fits well for me. Many of the other reviews seem to indicate I should order a medium, but it was way too tight for me.

I have a Better Sweeter from 2019 that I love and I wanted to purchase more colors while they were on sale. This 2024 model is designed much differently where they are much baggier in the arms and overall body. Also, what bothered me those most was that the neck opening is incredibly large that it just looks funny for me to wear. The 2019 model, the collar would brush up against my neck,. This model has an inch to inch and a half gap all around. It's a shame because it is still a great sweater, but the sizing no longer works for me, so I had to return it.

I'm a big fan of this fleece. It's warm, stylish and fits great. I own the royal blue and a green version. I'm in Texas and it's the perfect level of warmth to throw in your car for the 4 months of the year where its in the 40s- 50's. I also took it over to London at the beginning of April and found that it was perfect... as long as it wasn't raining, but it is what it is. It's a little longer and loser than the same version by Arc'teryx, so it can go over more layers if needed. It's best for around town or by a campfire, it's not the most technical, but it's also not trying to be. I'm a muscular 5'8" and run 220- 225, I went with the large and it's perfect.

People at work say it must be the first day of fall when they see me start wearing this project site straight through spring. Working in the solar industry in the north east in all different conductions this items keeps me warm from office letter to blizzard like conditions. Great from office meetings, project sites, hikes, skiing and Apre Ski. This sweater is perfect for them all. This is favorite item to wear all fall, winter and I to the chilly spring like weather. This 1/4 zip sweater does it all with style and warm, and business casual.
This my third Patagonia quarter-zip Better Sweater (in addition to a full-zip version). These garments last forever (one is approaching 15 years or so) and are amazingly versatile and comfortable. They are great to wear over a t-shirt, polo, or sports shirt, in chilly weather on their own, or in really cold weather as an insulating layer under a parka or down jacket. I am 5’9”, 150 lbs., and a medium fits me perfectly. I also love that it’s made from recycled materials in a fair trade factory. I can’t say enough good things about this staple of my wardrobe.
Bought this exact sweater back in 2021 (Stonewash colour) and the quality was very good. Recently purchased this sweater again in 2024 (Oar Tan colour) and the quality was unrecognizable. Very flimsy and light material that would offer minimal protection against any moderate weather or wind. Very thin and lower quality than what I received 3 years prior.I was shocked at how unrecognizable the quality was and compared it to my older sweater and could confirm the deterioration of quality was severe. I will be returning this.
The sizing is weird. Typical Patagonia sizing, boxy fit, long sleeves with wide cuffs that do nothing. I usually wear a medium but have to go down a size due to the long sleeves but then the body is a little tight now. I understand longer sleeves are helpful for gloves but you shouldn’t expect people would wear gloves all the time with this sweater on. No recommended unless you’re 5’8” and above or have super long arms.
The better sweater is a favorite for my family. We all have several colors and each year Patagonia adds new colors. They keep you warm and even warmer if you layer. We find that unless it's extremely cold we are not wearing our bulky jackets with our activities. I wear mine hiking, and out to dinner. Just trade the hiking boots for a pair of flats.Wash in cool water and hang to dry they look like they did the day we got them. These are an unbelievable value and the same for quality.
Anyone who tries this fleece is going to love it, that said, I was disappointed in the color selection this year. Because I needed a new one in max warmth condition, I reluctantly bought the Oar Tan with the khaki heather body and the navy sleeves. It's sharp, but the navy limits its utility for me, I much preferred the khaki body with slightly darker brown shoulder/sleeve combo. I think I might have some company here because usually this colorway is sold out by 12/18. I hope to see my preferred neutral back for an encore next year. PS, I'll eat a bug if you don't have to deeply discount the electric blue and the green print.
With Spring peeping around the corner I felt the need to buy a sweater which can bridge the gap between early Spring and early Summer as I hike and camp in the great Tuscarora Mountains of Pennsylvania. Having purchase Patagonia products for many years I knew I could count on the design and craftsmanship of this solid company. I was not disappointed. This sweater is warm and offers the freedom of movement I need while hiking through some rough forrest country. The delivery of my sweater was swift and efficient with the marriage of DHL and the USPS system offered by Back Country. Even on a Sunday, your staff got the ball rolling in processing my order. The fit is right on target in a large for my 185 Lb frame. A win win experience. Thanks gear heads!
