Great quality - poor fit

I'll preface this by saying I own a few other sweaters from Patagonia (Better Sweater 1/4 zip and Cotton Quilt Snap-T) and they're a Large. The fit is great and I have zero complaints. When I bought this I bought a large as well - big mistake apparently. This definitely runs big. Arm length was good, but the body of it makes me feel like I'm wearing a garbage bag and I'm swimming in it. Not sure why such a large discrepancy between the different makes. Quality of the sweater is fantastic though. Very comfortable, super warm, and I couldn't be happier there. Fit is the only issue.I'm 6'0" and about 200lbs.

As I write this, I am wearing a Lightweight Synchilla Snap T that is almost 15 years old and is still in perfect condition. My wife has one that is more than 20 years old and is still going strong. They are warm, never go out of style and last forever. Some people gripe about the lack of pockets = point taken. The fit is "relaxed", meaning if you want layers underneath, go with your regular size; but if not, you can easily size down. I wear an XL in everything else Patagonia but I have this one and one of the heavier model both in Size L. Lots of people complain about the lint they throw off; so the first thing you should do with a new one is toss it into the washing machine = problem solved. Never, never, NEVER put these in the dryer! Totally unnecessary = they dry ... MoreAs I write this, I am wearing a Lightweight Synchilla Snap T that is almost 15 years old and is still in perfect condition. SO warm and cozy! Classic looks that never go out of style. Be forewarned: You'd better choose your color carefully, because you're going to have this wonderful pullover for a long, LONG time!

Insane shedding
24 June 2023

This pullover is brutal. It sheds tons of little beige fibers all over anything and everything it touches. It might as well be made of glitter. I own 5-6 synchillas in varying Color-ways and Ive never had this issue with any of them. Its almost completely unwearable because once you put in on you're covered in fibers. Ive washed/dried it over 10 times and it still hasnt gotten any better. Ive tried lint-rolling it endlessly in hopes theres a limit to the shedding, but it never gets better. Buy a different color way, the oatmeal and navy is an actual nightmare. (Never thought Id be so dramatic over a pullover but here we are lol)

One of the best fleece's on the market
9 May 2022

I bought one of these used on eBay because I didn't want to spend the whole $120. If you can't find a pre-loved one in great condition however, it's totally worth your buck. This baby has kept me warm at WhiteFace mtn. (ADKs) as an insulation layer under my primary jacket in -10 F before. It's no joke. I've noticed the elbows have padded down since I've had it but it maintains it's warmth no doubt. It's not great for plane travel because it doesn't really pack down but I won't go anywhere that might have a breeze without it. The only competition it gets in my closet is from my Kuhl fleece which feels and acts much more rugged but I haven't been shy to get dirty with this either. If add that you should buy true to your typical snug sweatshirt size. I'm a thinner guy ... MoreI bought one of these used on eBay because I didn't want to spend the whole $120. Overall, a great bang for you buck that if treated right, will last you a lifetime.P.s. don't dry it after you wash it. Air drying it will make it last longer.

Shedding a lot
25 April 2023

I love this snap-t, great colors, but its shedding a lot. It looks like the anti-pilling coating is coming off. I see shiny fluff fibers everywhere. Im also thinking, how eco friendly is it to have these synthetic fibres coming off so much? These fibres end up in nature as well? I think this is part of the microplastic problem. Sounds like something to think about for Patagonia.Im thinking about returning it because Im afraid the shedding doesnt stop. It is actually a lot that comes off.

Soft, warm, fits great, and pilling
16 October 2022

Haven't had it a year yet, wore it for one winter/spring season. Only washed maybe 3-4 times, always in cold water, and air dried. Today, catching the light just so, I can see the forearms/cuffs, front by the hem and sides are pilling. What??? I asked Patagonia about that, and they said use a pumice stone (which seems wrong for such a new garment, or really for any garment). Is pilling what happens when the material is recycled? They never used to do that. It's disappointing. I love the feel and warmth, and the pilling makes it look grubby and cheap. Not quite the look I'm after...

Synchilla Satisfaction! Happily surprised with differences between the men's vs women's Lightweight Synchilla Snap-T pullover!
14 July 2022

I'm a petite woman between 5'0 - 5'1 height, 108-115 pounds (muscular, with muscular upper arms and shoulders, which does make men's cuts better fitting there), and I have bought the men's XXS in other Patagonia items in the past, and most recently in this Lightweight Synchilla Pullover. Obviously the Lightweight Pullover Snap Synchilla is a more relaxed fit/style, whether in women's or men's, but I knew what to expect and am very happy with it!The men's Lightweight Synchilla has some real quality improvements compared to the women's (although both are the same price) :The men's collar is made of 2 layers of Synchilla fleece fabric and is slightly taller (by about the width of 1 - 1.5 of the top of collar piping) to better cover the neck and provide warmth, ... MoreI'm a petite woman between 5'0 - 5'1 height, 108-115 pounds (muscular, with muscular upper arms and shoulders, which does make men's cuts better fitting there), and I have bought the men's XXS in other Patagonia items in the past, and most recently in this Lightweight Synchilla Pullover. The collar on the men's version is functional, cozy, and 2 layers of Synchilla fleece, which helps it to keep it's shape. And the pocket is so much bigger!! I was assuming there'd be a bit larger pocket on the men's compared to women's, but I was surprised at how much difference in size!(I understand that many women may not want larger pockets on breast pocket area, but as a petite muscular woman, whose body more resembles a gymnast, I don't really have the problems other women may have with breast pocket(s).The men's XXS cuts seem to be shorter and fall higher up on hip/waist than XS women's in this Lightweight Pullover Synchilla and (from experience and past purchases) most vests, which is perfect for shorter women. That info won't be useful to most people, but just wanted to share that beta for fellow short muscular women.

The product sheds fleece fibers - Disappointing for the price
8 November 2022

I purchased the Oatmeal Heather style Synchilla Lightweight Snap-T Pullover and wore it for over a year. The product is soft, comfortable and keeps the body very warm over winter. However the fleece would not stop shedding all over my clothes, it was frustrating having the fleece fibers all over my pants and tops. Even after machine washing the jumper numerous times, the product would continue to shed. It became a very embarrassing product to wear having all the fibers come on to anything you touch.Thankfully Patagonia has refunded me a gift card in the amount of the purchase. But I am very disappointed for the expensive price you pay, that its not reflected in the quality of the product.

Timeless Style That Lasts Forever
2 September 2023

I have a couple of the Lightweight Synchilla Snap Ts and procrastinated getting this heavier version. Now that I have one, I realy like the extra weight and warmth. I've even slept in it! If you don't plan on wearing much underneath, then you might want to consider going down one size; as they DO run on the large size. I wear XL and even XXL in other Patagonia products; but find Large in this model and the Lightweight version to fit me just fine with, say, a Capilene long sleeve underneath. A word of advice: Choose your color carefully in this iconic Top, because you're going to have it and wear it for years to come!
