I’ve been using the green Proraso for awhile now and I decided to try another offering from the company. For the winter months, I opted for the aloe and vitamin E shaving cream for the moisturizing properties. This cream performs as well as the green Proraso and I get a great lather and a great shave. My only criticism about the product is the scent. I think the most accurate comparison I’ve seen made is that the scent is similar to black licorice. Personally, that wouldn’t deter me from purchasing the cream again because the scent does not linger after you rinse and the aloe and vitamin E are effective against dry skin. I would give the performance capabilities of the cream five stars but the scent only one star.

I never tried Proraso after shave lotion lozione products before. Im comparing this to Khiels Blue lotion Astringent, Clubman Pinaud classic after shave, and your typical drugstore stuff. This Proraso stuff is sort of in its own category. It does have alcohol so you will know where you shaved a bit too close abraised skin burns more. BUT, it does have shea butter and lotion like properties that leave your skin not dry. Unlike some traditional after shave like say an astringent, it does not leave your skin chalky. So it feels great and the usual properties of alcohol but leaving the skin nourished with moisture with that silky hydrated feel. Now onto the scent. Its sandalwood and it smells great. Value at 100ml for around 17, its hard to give this product 5 stars when you look at the 300ml volume of a clubman product at 40 less. Sure it has great moisturising properties but the main job is an aftershave splash. That being said, it does an excellent job, just you do you have to pay a bit extra for the premium addons of an after shave lotion. So 45 stars for being a solid product, smells great, longevity on skin, does what its advertised for, but loses one star for the value.

I usually an am all Taylor of Old Bond Street user for shaving creams and aftershaves. I use a Muhle R89 with the Personna Platinum blades. Have always wanted to try Proraso range but was concerned the menthol would react with my sensitive (not overly so) skin. Did not want to go straight to the Proraso White for sensitive skin as never used a menthol type shaving cream before. First shave was not as good because I do not thing I added enough water during lathering (synthetic brush and rimmed bowl); it was thick but not slick enough. Had my second shave with it and made sure to add more water gradually during the lathering. Really great and slick shave. Nice slight cooling feeling and the blade glided more than TOBS.
