First time trying protein pancakes and I wouldn’t buy again. The golden syrup tasted so artificial, the pancakes were dry and so horrible to eat. No amount of toppings could mask the taste and them palatable. The first time I made them I used the amount of water recommended for 2 scoops and it was so runny. Next time I made them I created a thick consistency and added some baking powder which made them fluffy but the taste was still urgh. I’ve read that cookies and cream and chocolate are better and perhaps I should’ve tried those first but I didn’t so now I’m returning the unopened packages as I seriously don’t want to give them another go. I’ll stick with making pancakes the old fashioned way with milk, eggs, flour and then adding some protein powder to the mix.

Great

This was my first time ordering protein from MP, as I was struggling to hit my daily protein target. I chose the cookie and cream due to other reviews on here. The pancakes are great for a breakfast or a snack, and they’re very filling. I typically have them with strawberries, banana and Nutella (not the healthiest admittedly, but we’ve still got to enjoy). I’ve tried them with water and oat milk, and not noticed much difference in texture. The only difficulty I have is when cooking, they can sometimes foam and not cook properly, - this could be due to me still learning how to make them. All in all, great powder and I’ll be purchasing these again. Goes Well With: Nutella, banana, strawberries, Any other berries would be suitable. Does not go well with: maple syrup.

Great for both pancakes and wraps!

I purchased both the golden syrup and unflavoured pancake mixes. I agree with many of the other reviews that golden syrup is far too sweet, even after I had mixed it in a 1:1 ratio with the unflavoured. For fluffy pancakes, make sure to use cow's milk! I use whole milk. I find that the pancakes turn out SO dry and dense when mixed with plant milk or water. Having said this, I do like to combine the unflavoured mix with almond milk to make wraps instead of pancakes. They do turn out quite rubbery and dense but if you can look past the texture, I think it's worth the macros. I use 25g of the mix with around 45-50g of almond milk for one large wrap. This comes to 17g of protein for around 100kcal which is unbeatable by any other wraps I’ve seen sold in supermarkets. I ... MoreI purchased both the golden syrup and unflavoured pancake mixes. Beware though, I purchased these on sale in late July and both bags expire in October and November, although this shouldn’t be an issue for me as I will likely finish these by then. It seems that MyProtein tends to overstock products and then puts items about to go out of date on clearance, so just be weary! Goes Well With: whole milk for fluffy pancakes. drench in sugar-free maple syrup, peanut butter, berries, etc. water or almond milk for wraps. use for your favourite wrap ingredients- savoury or sweet

Honest review

So far I’ve tried 3 of the pancake flavours and I’m here to give an honest review. You have to take into consideration that these are pancakes packed with protein and for 200 kcal they’re fantastic. They’re obviously not going to taste like normal pancakes but it’s expected. I made all my pancakes with water only. Unflavoured - lots of people said they hated it but I really liked it because I could make my own flavours with spices and my other 0 calorie sweeteners I have at home. Very customisable 7/10 Nut Nougat - delicious flavour, no need for any syrup or anything as it is sweet enough. Possibly too sweet, so unless you are able to tolerate extreme sweetness, I wouldn’t purchase 6/10 Cinnamon Sugar - the best out of them all. I added extra cinnamon because I live for lots of cinnamon. They sort of tasted like gingerbread cookies to me. Love this flavour, for me personally it wasn’t too sweet however it was just about to be, but everyone has different preferences so it’s completely up to you 8.5/10 I’ve read the reviews that say they don’t taste like normal pancakes or they have a weird texture. They are protein pancakes. You cannot expect the real thing. I personally love the texture. Nice and fluffy straight off the pan but collapse once they start to cool. I love this pancakes and I will be purchasing more because for that amount of protein, the macros are absolutely fantastic Goes Well With: Chopped Fruit 0 calorie syrups 7 calorie jams

I tried these as the protein was way higher than the vegan ones (i had read the vegan ones were better and they have a lovely vanilla flavour) and do not like them one bit. I tried chocolate and maple syrup, i can’t even describe the taste but they do not taste how you’d expect.. most likely due to the high protein! The maple syrup is sickly sweet but not in a good way (and i have such a sweet tooth), chocolate is a mild chocolate flavour but has that protein-ey taste. The suggested amount of milk is not enough, i used that plus more alone for a 50g scoop and it was so thick it was hard to swallow. I would suggest using quite a bit more, mix until basically watery - it will make thinner pancakes which are far better! Also when you mix the milk in the mixture forms small clumps, which is so annoying - doesn’t affect the pancakes too much but doesn’t seem to mix all that well. I then have mine with some fruit and sweet freedom choc shot (great combo). As much as I didn’t like them, i really do suggest to try as i think it is a preference thing. I also think the protein intake is amazing for what it is, and if that is your focus these will definitely do. But if you’re wanting more of an authentic pancake taste/texture then i’d go with the vegan pancakes, less protein but can find ways to bring in more! I love these as a super handy high protein breakfast when I'm on the go. I make them the night before and whack them in the fridge after they've cooled and I can eat them easily on the train. They are also nice hot and I will serve with greek yoghurt and fruit. Flavours Golden syrup - nice but very sweet Cinnamon and sugar - these are delicious but higher in calories Cookies and cream - these are by far my favourite. They are not overly sweet. They are creamy and delicious The instructions aren't too clear. I use 175ml of water with 60g of powder and that makes 2 big pancakes. In my opinion, these are better when made a bit fatter, rather than crepe style.

I wanted to try this product as I've had a supermarkets protein pancakes before but found they were high in calories for the amount of protein I was getting. These seemed perfect on face value as they are low in cals, high in protein and I ordered the golden syrup flavour when there was a sale on. Thank god I did not pay full price for this product. It smells great when you open the packet but thats all I have good to say about it. The mixture contained lumps despite me mixing it for a good 7mins (I whisk most of my stuff by hand, as someone who bakes/cooks regulary i never have an issue with lumps). The flavour was so artifical it made me wanna throw up. I'm so glad I did not add a drizzle of honey before trying them because they was already overly sweet. Do not by this product if you hate overly sweet/fake foods, you will be better off making your own protein pancakes. Goes Well With: The Bin

They’re quite nice if you add a little extra

I got the unflavoured one as I wanted the flexibility to add flavours and not commit to one. Mixed with water the batter comes out very runny, with skimmed milk the batter comes out really nice. Here’s the thing though, if you don’t add anything to the batter this is really hard to eat, it really is UNFLAVOURED(!), and you can really taste the protein supplement… you need to add some sweetener (I added sugarly) and some flavour extract (I used vanilla) and that made them quite alright! They can also come out VERY dry, so don’t cook them for long. Wait for them to bubble up on one side, then cook just for a few seconds on the other side. Add some blueberries and the butterscotch syrup they sell and you’ve got a nice enough meal! Three microwave pancake for breakfast
13 December 2022

I used to try making protein pancakes with a frying pan like normal pancakes. They never turned out like real pancakes. They would either burn or stick to the bottom of my non-stick pan, or overflow like porridge and go everywhere on the hob. I tried adding an egg, adding oats to give it more consistency, oat milk, almond milk, normal milk, coconut milk. Nothing worked. Eventually, I put two scoops of protein pancake mix and two scoops of rolled oats in a bowl, added a bit of water, and microwaved it. It came out like a cake. I played around with how much water to add and I can now eye it so it is neither a solidified but jelly-ish porridge cake nor a rock solid cake I had to saw open.
