Pyrolux Industry Blue Steel Frypan 20cm

Description With its origins embedded in a time honoured method of cooking, Pyrolux - Industry offers a range of professional cookware to suit your culinary needs. Features 1.5mm – 2.0mm Blue Steel construction – excellent heat conductor Withstands high temperatures and allows for longer preheating Hardwearing and easy to season to attain its own patina/nonstick properties Safe for use with metal objects once seasoned and its natural nonstick properties are present Suitable for all heat sources including Induction Does not retain odours due to the high density metal construction Requires only minimal care - Not advisable for dishwasher use Always heat up and cool down your pan gradually. Carbon steel handles become hot during cooking, always use a protective mitt or oven glove. Use & Care Before first use, clean the fry pan with very hot water and wipe dry. Pour 1cm of oil into the pan and heat on medium for 5 minutes or until the oil starts to bubble. Turn off the heat. This first step alone will even out any existing oily spots on the pan. Wait for the pan to cool off and discard the oil, wiping any excess oil off with a paper towel. At that stage, the pan starts to darken and loses its marks and spots. Repeat this process one or two more times. The more the pan is used, the better the performance. The darker it becomes the better it is for natural nonstick properties. To ensure that the pan keeps its properties and in order to avoid oxidation, wash it in hot tap water immediately after use, and then wipe it immediately with a paper towel, ensuring it is completely dry, before thinly oiling and storing in a dry place.

Smaller than I imagined but perfect for one person at home or out camping. The Blue Steel develops a beautiful non-stick finish after seasoning and regular use. Not buying Teflon cookware again. Keep it lightly oiled after use and your kids will be handin

We love these pans. Once they are prepared with the coconut oil, which takes a bit of hearing, they are good to go and as good as any non-stick surface. They will literally last forever.

Best pans ever!

I started using Pyrolux Blue Steel pans 2 years ago in a quest to avoid toxic Teflon cookware. These pans are fantastic and after seasoning (instructions included) and with proper care they are, and will remain, wonderfully non-stick. Unlike Teflon pans there is no coating that can come off or degrade. I love the light weight and responsiveness of these pans too - so good for cooking on gas. Now I have three Blue Steel pans and use them daily. I cant imagine cooking with anything else. Highly recommended.

Bit of a disappointment
6 December 2020

Cant say i like this pan. It wobbles on the bottom. Wont sit flat on my cooktop. No doubt it has warped. So not as strong or tough as they indicate and the handle is so long it wont fit in my oven. Which for me, defeats the purpose of having this style of frypan.

Good quality product

This pan is better than more expensive carbon steel pans that can be quite heavy for a small woman with tiny hands. It has a thinner gauge bottom making it lighter, quicker to heat and more efficient at lower temperatures. I seasoned as per instructions and have been surprised by how well the pan performs. Eggs slide straight out, meat sears beautifully and fried rice tastes better than a restaurant one. As usual, another great shopping experience with everten.

Impressed

Switched over to induction and old non-stick frypan died; Decided to try this one as it was cheap and induction compatible, and I've gotta say this one heats quickly, is nice and lightweight, looks nice and feels sturdy. The seasoning instructions were straightforward and it is a breeze to keep clean - treat it like cast iron. I have to say overall I'm impressed with the quality and for the price I'd recommend this frypan to anyone.

Industry grade pan at a good price

The pyrolux is well made and keeps its seasoning very well, even after being used to cook what are considered "no-no" foods. I've used both these and the de buyer in a home and professional context and would highly recommend them if you do a lot of pan cooking.

Nice enough pan but not perfect
25 June 2017

The pan is 1.5 mm thick,. is reasonably light, responsive & easy to handle. The cooking results are what you'd expect from a carbon steel pan. The main reason I gave it 3 stars, rather than 4 or 5, is because of the sharpish edges on the handle. I found that uncomfortable in my hand & was disappointed by this. I almost felt like grabbing an angle grinder & trying to smooth out the edges myself. Overall the pan is solid & if you are willing to accept the handle issue, it's fine. As a comparison, I have 2 De Buyer frypans, a 28 cm Carbone Plus, this pan is 3 mm thick, solid as a rock & much, much heavier than the Pyrolux (almost as heavy as cast iron, it should last forever). My 2nd De Buyer is a 32 cm Force Blue frypan, it's 2 mm thick, lighter than the Carbone Plus, ...Β MoreThe pan is 1.5 mm thick,. is reasonably light, responsive & easy to handle. My 2nd De Buyer is a 32 cm Force Blue frypan, it's 2 mm thick, lighter than the Carbone Plus, also solid as a rock. These 2 pans are now my favourites & are used everyday. Because these De Buyer pans are thicker than the Pyrolux they heat more evenly & are therefore less prone to hot spots & the key point for me is, the handle's edges on the De Buyers are perfectly smooth & do not hurt my hand at all. They are excellently made. My preference therefore, would be the De Buyer pans, they cost a little more but in my opinion they're worth it. (Bear in mind that the cheaper De Buyer pans, the La Lyonnaise line, are only 1 to 1.5 mm mm thick so there could be hot spot issues. My personal preference is for the Force Blue line & upwards)

I have been looking for good quality, light carbon steel pans for ages. Stumbled across everten and could not be happier. They are fantastic. So easy to cook with, and once seasoned,,,,, nothing sticks. Superior quality . Great price. Couldn't be happier.
