Years after surviving the events in Raccoon City, Chris Redfield has been fighting the scourge of bio-organic weapons all over the world. Now a member of the Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), Chris is sent to Africa to investigate a biological agent that is transforming the populace into aggressive and disturbing creatures. The entire campaign is 2-player, and carries over the relatively intuitive and tight control of Resident Evil 4 as well as the same great open-space set pieces. The flaw of this game is that it lacks the creepy and macabre atmosphere of its predecessors, but that's the trade-off when you add a second player.RE5 is still an excellent game in its own right, but demands to be played with a friend. If you keep that in mind while playing the game, there's different nuances and levels of dumb actions that just begin to make more sense when you factor in desperation and love.Honestly, it's also the best-looking Capcom game and the best iteration (voice, mocap, and appearance) of Chris and Jill. Just remove the swamp filter and you'll see something stunning; it's a pity that Capcom didn't release a filter to remove their filter for the 25th anniversary. Wrasslin, the depth of the eye expression and microexpressions (especially on Chris thanks to Roger Craig Smith's fantastic performance and on Jill thanks to the fantastic Patricia Ja Lee, both of whom Capcom treats like fodder because they're unionized -- gross of them, right?), fun weapons, and cheesy dialogue mingled with serious sentiments really do make this a stunning and beautiful game.

This game is a lot of fun when you play online. The split screen mode is kind of annoying. The screens aren't down the middle, but instead off to the side with a lot of dead space on your monitor. I also really don't like that you can't move and shoot. The aiming is fine once you get the hang of it. Also, the zombies move slow enough for the most part that you can finagle properly. The only thing that is incredibly annoying is that you can only hold onto nine things including your guns, however you can pick up as much money as you find. Once you get the hang of loading right before each check point it's fine. It's really easy to find yourself facing a boss with no ammo, so every shot counts.I recommend this game, the guns are awesome and your shotgun is your best ... MoreThis game is a lot of fun when you play online. This has become one of my favorite multiplayer games. Find a partner to team up with and you'll be set for one incredible experience. The graphics in the game are well done and the gameplay is excellent. Some people complain that this game is not scary and strays from its survival roots; yes, those are both true. But the game strays for good reason. Without spoiling too much, the game is mostly about epic struggle between Chris and his arch-nemesis Wesker. Chris isn't the scrawny guy he once was 10 years ago- he's devoted his life to being prepared to take down Wesker. The franchise had to go this direction- at least for this game.As an added bonus, you can play the mercenaries minigame with a second player. I hate zombies. From the slow stupid ones in Night of the Living Dead to the fast rage-filled ones in 28 Days Later. Resident Evil 5 infected are somewhere in between those two extremes. They're pretty intelligent as far as zombies go and they're also mad as hell and want to take it out on some outsiders. A word of warning though, that the infinite ammo RPG is a bit overpowered and makes the game way too easy, even on the hardest difficulty setting. Well, with that: I hate zombies, and you should too!

This is NOT Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, Zero, or Code Veronica. This is Resident Evil 4.1. It isn't a bad game, but it's a shooter. There is nothing purely Resident Evil about RE5. I've played and beaten every Resident Evil and this one was just as rough as #4. It is entertaining, however. If you want 8-10 hours of mindless shooting then this is the right game for you. If you're looking for a challenging survival horror game, look elsewhere. Personally I don't see a major difference between this game and Bioshock but if you're looking for a shooter this may be the game for you. I wouldn't spend more than $15-20 on this game, and I'm glad to see it on the Greatest Hits list. I would recommend Borderlands or Bioshock instead - by far. I can honestly say that I have played every game in this series. The classic games (RE1, RE2, RE3,RE:CV) were the best in the series. RE4 was a good game, with its new mechanics and physics. While RE5 is similar to RE4, it's a different kind of beast. Powered by Capcom's MT Framework 2.0 engine and the Havok Physics library, this game features very realistic graphics and lighting and decent enemy physics but horrendous weapon physics; however, Chris Redfield has been turned into a dark haired Duke Nukem without the shades or attitude. The inventory management leaves something to be desired, though I enjoyed the inventory menu better than the attache case from RE4. The difficulty is manageable on the lower difficulty levels but on the higher levels, you need to make every single shot count. The boss battles are very tense, especially against the chainsaw majini mini-bosses. The enemy AI is very spotty at best, but they don't need to be intelligent when they are swarming you. There are quite a few places with ridiculously over the top action, such as breaking boulders with your fists, but these moments just reinforce the fun. The only real complaints I have are the super-roaches that can kill you with one attack if they grab you and the eventual gunfights with somewhat intelligent enemies. So, here's.

I thought this game was great. This game made me buy a PS3 after the PS3 price drop. I thought the graphics were great and so was the sound. The story line was pretty good and I wasn't expecting to see Jill in the game so that was nice also. I am new to PS3 so the controls took some time to get used to. I played all the other RE games for Gamecube so...it was a nice upgrade for me. RE5 is just slightly a notch below RE4 (which is the 2nd best game I have ever played right after Zelda:Ocarina Of Time). Three really minor things that bothered me about this game was the AI would waste ammo and in the final battle I had to use the hand knife to beat the game, it wasn't as scary/horror as the original RE but still fun and during loading between levels you couldn't read ... MoreI thought this game was great. I am going to play it online next and see what that is like. I highly recommend this game to those who haven't played it.

Resident Evil 5 has beautiful graphics, phenomenal sound, and exactly the same control scheme as Resident Evil 4, although now with co-op play possible, it evidently is a step away from its predecessor. The co-op play through the game is a fun feature, and the supporting protagonist, Sheva Alomar, can hold her own and is an in-combat asset. The African setting for another RE game is kinda like a Black Hawk Down setting, and it's fun, but not as much as RE4's setting. The weapons are cool but, during certain boss battles you practically run out of ammo and grenades (sure to irritate some gamers). Overall, this game is still a blast but should not be bought in leiu of getting RE4 HD. This is one of those games best bought used for less than $20.

The disc had a bit more scratches than I anticipated (based on the photo that was provided), but the game works just fine. I needed a replacement for my old RE5 since the disc had a pretty nasty crack in it. The Mercenaries Mode is honestly worth the price of admission, alone. The tank controls, the invincibility frames while in the middle of an animation -- as well as the ability to shoot different parts of enemies' bodies and follow up with context-sensitive melee attacks -- offers fresh, unique gameplay that can't be found anywhere else, making this a nice change of pace from the monotonous games commonly sold these days. Some might say the controls are stiff and antiquated, but once you get the hang of them, the game really opens up.
