I've bought this model or its predecessor for years and the last two pair, the lace mechanism WILL NOT stay tight. The previous 3 pair were great - draw it tight, tuck it under and it stays for as long as you wear them. The last two pair (both less than a year old) the lace comes loose within an hour of wearing and my foot slides forward. First time with black toe caused by an ill fitting shoe.

These are by far the most comfortable Salomon’s I’ve purchased. I have XT-6’s which are too tight, XT Wings which are looser fitting but found the instep too high for my flat feet, ACS Pro fit long and the XA Pro 1 which are a close second to the XA Pro 3D. These are also very light and offer great ventilation. These fit true to size. My only wish is that Salomon offered more colours to choose from.

The price was a bit more than I wanted but found they were very comfortable. I hummed and hawed and eventually made the purchase. They have been nothing short of excellent. These have been my daily pair for almost 3 years and are only now showing signs of needing to be replaced. The tread is gone and they smell like what death smells like when it dies, but in all honestly have been one of the best pair of shoes I have ever invested in. Form day one till now, they are still extremely comfortable. What I found most pleasing is how the heal has held up. I tend to “slip my shoes on” without ever untying or loosening them. The numerous pairs of Shox I had previously would break down and become uncomfortable with the heal of the shoe digging into my heal due to the shoe ... MoreThe price was a bit more than I wanted but found they were very comfortable. I have never experienced this with the Salomons. I hope the next pair is just as durable and comfortable as these.

These shoes take about 2-3 days to "break in" for me, but once they do they are a great fit. I find for my feet at size 10, the toe box is the right size and length, but the width is just a tad narrow, so they are a snug fit with a double layer hiking sock. They're among the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, including hiking in the Jaguar park in Belize, to driving 18-wheelers, this shoe is good for many purposes. I am hard on shoes generally, and these typically last only a 2-3 years before the softer rubber soles are completely worn slick and need to be replaced. This is probably due to the fact that I walk on sidewalks a lot, and steel steps on big trucks have a grip pattern that likely digs into the soles and tears them up. I just replace them once every ... MoreThese shoes take about 2-3 days to "break in" for me, but once they do they are a great fit. When I saw the Salomon Slam Jam collab I was obsessed with the asymmetrical laces and the silver!!! The silver version of the XA PRO 3D is super similar to the collab, but at a way lower price point (especially comparing to the sneakerhead markup). These shoes are so comfortable and supportive for my high arches. I wear them on long walks and to the gym. So glad I purchased!Sizing note: Some people say to size up, others say to size down. I've found that Salomon sizing is a half size big for women and a half size small for men. So the Salomon size W9/M8 fits a women's 9.5 and a men's 7.5. :)
Easy on easy off. Comfortable enough. Some toe protection for outdoors with the toe bumper. Love the look. Wish they had a bit more cushion. Maybe a bit thicker sole.Been using the grey ones outdoors for yard work for 2 years, sole is almost gone. So about 3 years of tread. Less if more active. A more durable bottom sole would be welcomed. Bought black and grey again in case they sell out or discontinue. The other newer model is terrible compared to this model. Cheap and thin and plasticy.
I bought a pair for a 24-hour trail race over tough rocky, rooty ground. The shoes were extremely uncomfortable in training and led to the worst blistering I've dealt with. Thinking they just needed to be broken in, I put in some more miles but the issues continued as their solid, heavy soles took a toll on my feet. I figured they might feel better when I'm on the trail, in the environment they're made for. I wore them for one 5-km lap and they were more painful than ever. To add insult to injury, I wore my road-running Mizuno Wave Inspires instead and they performed better on the trails, despite the rugged terrain, without compromising on comfort. If you want rugging-looking shoes to walk in, these might fit the bill. If you expect to run in your trail runners, ... MoreI bought a pair for a 24-hour trail race over tough rocky, rooty ground. Without the typical exaggeration of an online negative review, this has been the worst experience I've had with runners.
Sizing on Salomon website is wrong. I’m 11.5 on their measurements, and usually I buy a 12 for using with good socks (all Merrell have been 12 and worked perfect). I bought a 12, they feel like 11.5 but SUPER NARROW. My feet are Narrow but on this ones I feel them ultra tight. That’s about measures.I used them for more than 70 miles now. Still Hard to break in. I feel each and every lateral stripes on my feet. I feel pain on the arches when walking on flat (sidewalks). The Quick lacing system is very difficult to use (At least for me). I could never get the same tightness on both feet. I have to adjust it at least 3-4 times when I start hiking to get them reasonably similar on both sides. If I use them tight I feel uncomfortable with the lateral stripes on the ... MoreSizing on Salomon website is wrong. If I go a little loose my feet goes down and I feel my toes hitting the front of the shoe.I didn’t return them immediately because I read other reviews of 5 stars and they said it took a while to get used to them
After switching from an asics trail runner to the XA PRO 3D I am in awe of the performance.I logged 667 miles within 3 months and my only complaint was due to the upper losing a slight bit of lock down. The clothe is strong enough to last for about 650 miles and the traction was near perfect.I have uniquely flat feet of which makes jogging more cumbersome on the shoe itself. This shoe blew away my expectations. I am training for a 50 mile jog/hike in the Santa Monica Mountains. When you make the switch to salomon there is absolutely no other brand that will compare in terms of performance and also visual appeal.
I’ve owned these xa pro 3d for a few weeks and have been on four hikes so far. I love the look and color combo of these. I’m normally a women’s size 6.5 and these in size 5 were too short and size 6 were a bit big. I ended up keeping size 6 and added insole under the ortholite to make them fit better. This actually made my feet more comfortable because of more cushion and support. From here I noticed there’s no blue cushion under the ortholite which is a little disappointing, as the blue cushions have made my speedcross 3 very comfortable. I wish blue cushion can be added to future models of xa pro 3d and wish there can be half sizes! i know these white colored shoes are designed more for styles instead of trails, but I can’t resist taking them out for hikes since ... MoreI’ve owned these xa pro 3d for a few weeks and have been on four hikes so far.
