My laptop had a 120GB mSATA, which was an upgrade and working fine. However, when I saw the price for this 250GB mSATA with a "5 YEAR" warranty, it just made logical sense to upgrade my laptop with this new SAMSUNG mSATA. My mSATA port is a SATA 3.0 port and this SAMSUNG mSATA is a speed demon. I could not be happier with this items performance and did I mention it comes with a 5 YEAR warranty!!!I have married this SAMSUNG 850 EVO mSATA alongside the SAMSUNG 850 EVO 500GB SSD. Using the SAMSUNG Magician software will even enable these drives to run at a higher performance marker! Couldn't be happier and highly recommend!

Geez, to understand my excitement, I'm a pc gamer coming from an i3 8100 all the way to a i7 8700. So you could say I made quite the upgrade. This beautiful creation from God performs spectacular under any circumstances and I am sure it will for the next decade in pc gaming. highly recommended! Make sure you get at least a hyper 212 Evo to cool this thing off since you will be doing alot of processing! I'm currently rendering and gaming and I have not experienced any slowdown whatsoever and I'm able to do SO many task at one without a hitch! The only negative I could find was that I probably haven't used this CPU to its fullest potential, something I hope I can definitely do!

You absolutely need this without a doubt unless you have m2x4. Unless you have the slot to take advantage of a better SSD, this is the best you can get. There are VERY few products this good that work with these sockets. THIS IS MSATA PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!! This would be EXCELSIOR if I put 2 or 3 of these on an old PC with Msatas. (I'm assuming desktops used msata before m.2.) I have a gap from 2005-2015. Computers on the floor 24/7 from inception-2005 and from 2005-2015. This is why I ordered the wrong form factor. I have learned now, and this is the best for m.2 even if you have m2.2 , which you probably do. If you didn't buy your computer this year or the last 3 months of 2014, you don't have m2x4 most likely.

Amazing, fast, well manufactured, "Genuine Samsung 860 EVO." Install "Samsung" magician to make it even faster. Easy to install; 1) Open screws to bottom of mSATA capable laptop, 2) Insert mSATA into slot, 3) Install two small screws - Done. Windows 10 installs no problem in AHCI disk mode. The mSATA SSD is recognized by BIOS and Windows 10 install disk (***** NOTE *****: You must disconnect existing SATA harddrive first for BIOS and Windows 10 install disk to see new mSATA drive). After install of Operating System to mSATA, you can reconnect other SATA drives.
My wife has the 2011 Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A with a 2nd Gen Dual Core i5 processor, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, and 128 GB mSATA drive. It was getting frustratingly slow, to the point where we considered buying her a new laptop. After some research, we decided to buy parts and upgrade her existing laptop instead. Bought another 4 GB of RAM, this Samsung 850 EVO mSATA, and an external enclosure (so I could still use the 128 GB drive). Did a fresh install of Windows 10 easily and included Samsung's Magician Software to better optimize the SSD. Laptop now runs as well as most modern day laptops that could have cost us 800 USD. With newer NVME drives though, I was hoping I could get this for much cheaper.. probably would have gotten the 1 TB. Regardless of price, this was a ... This speed is good. I'm not gonna post speed results because I was using a msata to usb3.0 adapter and the adapter is going to most likely be the bottleneck. My ssd, with no airflow and in 75F, got up to 48C under load. Also, this might sound stupid, but I removed the sticker off the memory and controller and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and lowered the temperature by 2C under load. The 840 EVO is TLC and also Samsung messed up and there are 2 major problems with the ssd. From what I've read by other owners, after about 3 months of not being powered on, all the data on the ssd will become destroyed, because Samsung used terrible TLC cells. The other problem is the ssd's speed will degrade way before it should because of bad software. This can be fixed by ... MoreThis speed is good. So far, I am very satisfied with my new Samsung SSD and would buy another one in an instant. I run Windows 10 Pro and have the OS and all my programs on the primary SSD drive and all my documents, spreadsheets, videos, photos, and other files on a secondary 1TB HDD. I replaced the OEM (Liteon) 256GB SSD mSATA card with the Samsung 500GB SSD mSATA card because I had reached 68% capacity on the OEM capacity, I needed to install a new large CAD program, and the highly-rated Samsung drive was on sale. On the other hand . . . the New Egg "deal" included a $60 credit for a $60 Ubisoft game. Although I couldn't possibly have cared less about the game, the "gift" ended up costing me money. Both order and invoice listed 2 orders/shipments . . . "Order 1" included the drive and other purchases for my business and "Order 2" was the "On-line Game Code" for the game. Unfortunately, they showed the $60 credit on the "Order 1" order and its invoice and then billed me $60 for the game, which is clearly not a deductible business expense. Basically, the "free" game ended up costing me a $22 income tax deduction. The problem would have been avoided if the invoice had listed the credit in the appropriate place. I know this probably doesn't matter to most people but it is why they get a 3 rating instead of a 5 and why I won't be making any more business purchased at New Egg if the price includes any "freebies".
I have purchased based several of these from Dan's. They are all brand new and test perfect. Yes, they are NOS but exactly what I need. 250GB is more than adequate for a boot disk.
Marvelous! Installed it in a Dell M4700 laptop, in the mSATA slot. Used image software to clone the original 2.5" SSD Windows install to the 500GB mSATA. This allows me to use the original 2.5" slot for backup drives. (Very simple and easy on the Dell M4700 to exchange the original drive.) It would have been nice to have a much larger mSATA, but anything larger is way too expensive for my budget. So, I'm extremely happy as I read a lot of posts that it wasn't possible to install the OS on the mSATA...but it works marvelous.
So the SSDs from the T5 Portable are certainly the same physically as the 850 EVO. They behave the same in terms of read sped and write speed, they have the same capacity (I was able to add two to an existing RAID array). They are - for the most part - the same thing. Except when they're not. There is a subtle difference, in that the T5 Portable drives have a different firmware. Samsung Magician won't update them, or otherwise support them. Now that's not really a big issue for me in my use case - as mentioned, they're part of a RAID array, and after adding them to the array, I can't remove them to update the firmware. And I'm not going to use the "make it even faster" features of Samsung Magician (basically a 'better' cache) BUT if you're a Samsung SSD Fan who is ...
