If I look at the quality of this phone in isolation, it's great. The screen is good, the flip is novel (though I admit when I'm at home I just keep it unfolded on my desk or coffee table) and the software is Android with Samsung frills on it, so that's good too.Where it falls down for me is that while it's an Android phone, the transition from my old phone (also an Android) to this was not simple. I downloaded the Samsung smart switch and it asked me to do it wirelessly, then plug a cable in, then do it wirelessly and so on and so forth. Eventually the two phones decided they would talk to each other and things moved forward. It was quite selective about what it would transfer over (for example it wouldn't transfer over saved WiFi credentials). The quality of the ... MoreIf I look at the quality of this phone in isolation, it's great. Eventually the two phones decided they would talk to each other and things moved forward. It was quite selective about what it would transfer over (for example it wouldn't transfer over saved WiFi credentials). The quality of the phone itself is great. The front screen is good for quick glances and it paired well with my Samsung Smart Watch so both my phone and watch pester me about getting my step count in now.The flip action is not like the flip phones of old, it isn't a one handed job unless you use those grip strengthening squeezy things. You need to hold it with one and open with the other, so not terribly good on the accessibility front perhaps?A pain with Samsung is that it's menu is a horizontal scroll rather than vertical so it's not as easy to find an app beginning with W unless you have it on your homepages. The camera is great and a novel discovery was that you can turn on the front screen when using the rear facing camera, so that you can use the bigger/better camera to take a selfie and make sure you're actually in shot first.Overall it's a good phone, I'll get past the pain that was the first evening transferring it from my old phone and get used to it soon enough.Having now spent two weeks with the flip 5 while it's useful having a bigger screen on the front I'm not entirely sure that the cost difference between a four and a 5 is justified by that and the other small changes between the two. The biggest screen is useful for reading texts and responding to WhatsApp messages and things like that however the smaller screen on the flip 4 with perfectly adequate for showing simple notifications and more often than not I find myself looking at a notification on the cover screen and then opening the phone to respond anyway. Being a Samsung phone most of the apps that can use the cover screen are Samsung own apps.

I did own a flip phone many years ago, but this phone is on another level altogether! I was a little apprehensive buying this but it's absolutely brilliant and exceeds all my expectations. The phone arrived in very minimal packaging, which I kinda expected but however I feel that when a product costs over £1000, there should be a charger plug and a cover, that's just my opinion. But let's get to the phone. Once I set up the Flip initially, I got a notification on my old phone instantly recognising the new phone and initiating the seamless switch. I prefer using a cable as sometimes using WiFi can be troublesome if your WiFi is not stable at that time.I managed to transfer approximately 100gb of music, photos, apps and videos in about 50 minutes. All the menus and customisations are out of this world. In fact, there are so many new things to know and learn about, I would recommend going online as there are tutorial videos that show you how to use and customise your phone to perfection, and have it exactly how you like it!The size is so cute and will just fit in my pocket. It will sit on my bedside table and use it as my alarm clock as it's identical in size to one of the original size alarm clock devices but looks a lot more modern and attractive.I love the front screen when the phone is closed and I know I will use it a lot in that mode as it had so much ffunctionality that does not require you to open the phone in full screen. As it's so new I have not had much time to try out the phone yet in full but I am very confident that I am going to enjoy it.I look forward to using the camera but from first few trials it looks very impressive indeed. This is probably the nicest and best phone I have ever bought and I look forward to using it for a long time to come!

Just bought the phone, been using it for a few days. There's no real issues I personally have, but understand that you MUST go into buying gimmicks knowing that you MUST make concessions. This phone will not have the best screen, or be the strongest processor or durability wise, and its camera is years behind the quality of cameras on phones nowadays. But what you're getting is something different than just a regular phone. There are fun quirks that set this phone apart from the competition, but understand that you are going to sacrifice certain forms of reliability. There are fun quirks that set this phone apart from the competition, but understand that you are going to sacrifice certain forms of reliability. I own a professional camera, so I don't care that this phone camera is the equivalent of something top of the line in 2018. I take good care of my phones, plus never (accidentally) drop them, so the fact that the hinge can theoretically be snapped in half is less of an issue for me. The downsides FOR ME, are unimportant, so I prefer to use something fun compared to the "old reliable". Products like the flip and fold phones show me that big corporations can actually create new and interesting tech instead of regurgitating the same product over and over again. Even though Samsung is guilty with this as well, they have always been ahead of the competition when it comes to making interesting gimmicky side projects like the note line of phones, and edge line. They eventually took X gimmick or idea, iterated on it, and released a better, more refined version. Case in point, the flip 4 is the first phone in this line that is really competitive with the competition. For me, the product is around an 80 to 90/100 and I can't ask for anything better for the price point and the tech out at the moment (thank you guys who used the flip 1 to 3 for beta testing the design), but for some people, the gimmick isn't useful or fun enough for the price asked, and they might give it more of a 3 star review. If you have the expectation that this phone should be better than the tried and true flat phones out there that has been done for more than a decade now, please don't do that. Be pleasantly surprised for a quirky, slightly flawed product that comes so close to the current best phones on the market. But remember, those phones don't flip. This review is coming from a guy who bought the lavender color, 128 gb model, and I've been using the Samsung S 10 before this, the S 7 edge before that, the Note 4 before that, the IPhone 4S before that (cough cough), and a flip phone before that. I've come full circle.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a fantastic device that brings foldable technology to the mainstream with style and functionality. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a few upgrades over the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The new Flip isn't a lot more powerful, but it does come with a few interesting upgrades. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 benefits from having the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset which is faster than the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset found in the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 trades the Cover Screen in for the new Flex Window which has much more functionality than the outer display of the Flip 4. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has an improved hinge over the Flip 4 which lets the device close completely shut, without leaving a gap where dust can settle in. The base model of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes with double the storage (256GB) compared to Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 (128GB).
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is a great phone with a lot to offer. I especially like the following features:The Flex Screen is a great innovation that allows you to use the phone in both open and closed modes. It's perfect for checking notifications, taking selfies, and watching videos. The new, big 3.4-inch cover screen is also a great addition. It's much more usable than the previous cover screen, and it makes it easy to do things like check the time, control music playback, and send quick messages without having to open the phone. You can use it as a regular phone when it's open, but you can also fold it in half to use the smaller cover screen. It's sleek and stylish, and it comes in a variety of colours to choose from.Overall, I think the Galaxy Z Flip5 is a great phone that is perfect for anyone looking for a unique and stylish device with a lot of features.I do not think the battery life is as long as I hoped and the phone can get very hot suddenly without explanation which is frustrating.Overall, I think the Galaxy Z Flip5 is a great phone with a lot to offer. So look, foldables are new and exciting and what have you, but they're laced with caveats that - depending on the device - can either be passable or wholly inconvenient. The Z flip 4 I think is the latter. The hinge and ability to close it like an old-school flip phone is a nice touch, a bit of nostalgia, but the "flip" side to that is due to the tiny, mostly unusable front screen, it always has to be flipped open to be used.On form factors that open into a full tablet-like experience this is passable as the front screen can cover off simple tasks and doesn't necessitate unfolding, but the flip needs it. Therefore every interaction, give or take, involves opening the phone, and this isn't easily done one-handed.On top of this you then get the rest of the ... MoreSo look, foldables are new and exciting and what have you, but they're laced with caveats that - depending on the device - can either be passable or wholly inconvenient. Therefore every interaction, give or take, involves opening the phone, and this isn't easily done one-handed.On top of this you then get the rest of the foldable foibles. The cameras aren't terrible, but clearly there's not enough space to house units that compare to flagships. The battery is smaller than equivalently sized units that don't flip. Then there's the screen itself, that dents just by looking at it.. if you notice that considering the crease catches your eye constantly. In a couple of weeks of usage the internal screen, due to the gap when it's closed, has been subject to the elements of my pocket and the plastic screen protector is caked in light, surface scratches you don't get on a glass screen. It's a performant device, it does everything I want to, I just find this form factor to be absolutely not worth the premium charged for it, especially when considering that this form factor in particular only really boasts of being able to snugly fit in a shirt pocket as it's unique selling point.I'm optimistic for the future of foldables, but gen 4 of Samsung's still appear to suffer a lot of the early caveats the first foldables arrived with. Hopefully it'll get better as technology advances.-I was able to trade my flip 4 in for a flip 5 recently, and I'd like to highlight some marked improvements to the experience. The larger front display is definitely more usable and convenient. It's limited in functionality which is frustrating, still relying on widgets and only permitting whitelisted applications. Unfortunately this makes it not the best implementation I've seen. The screen now closes flat. No gap! This is great, finally. There is still a crease that's visible, but maybe next year they'll get to that.Outside of these it's a newer device, so benefits from a bit of a spec bump for the price.

The main screen is nice and bright, with content displayed clearly. I’d never really seen the point or need for a folding screen but in this form-factor it is a major plus. There is a slight ripple along the screen fold but it doesn’t become a distraction and is hardly discernible while watching full screen content like video. There doesn’t seem to be any effect on touch screen response over the fold. When typing, the on-screen keyboard is easy to use with less miss-keying and you can achieve decent speeds. As it’s Android 13, I’m using gesture-based navigation rather than the usual three buttons which works well and has less screen clutter.Battery life can get you through a day with moderate use but with gaming and lots of screen-on time this will reduce rapidly. Luckily you have wireless charging allowing charging in bars, cafes and cars without resorting to cables. Like many current phones, there is only a USB cable included in the box and you will need to provide a charger or wireless pad.Using the phone for cashless payments is simple using Samsung Pay and Samsung Wallet. The back of the bottom part of the phone needs to be held near the card terminal reader. In my normal use the phone is quick in loading up and switching between apps. I’ve not encountered any slow-down during my time with it.Overall, there’s a lot to like about the phone. It’s stylish, a good size without sacrificing a large screen and performs well with top hardware specs.
Upon unboxing the Flip 4, I was immediately impressed by its clean and premium feel. The unique foldable design sets it apart, allowing for a slimmer and taller form factor compared to my Samsung S21 5G. It easily fits into my bag or pocket without taking up much space. Setting up the phone was a seamless process, and once it was up and running, I was truly amazed by its outstanding performance. The camera captures stunningly vibrant and detailed images, although I haven't had the opportunity to capture anything truly remarkable yet. However, as someone who has always been happy with Samsung smartphones' cameras in the past, I'm confident that I will be pleased with the results once I have the chance to fully explore its capabilities. The Corning's Gorilla Glass ... MoreUpon unboxing the Flip 4, I was immediately impressed by its clean and premium feel. With Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, LPDDR5 memory, and UFS 3.1 storage, the phone offers remarkable speed and responsiveness. While the charging speeds could be faster and the display is prone to creasing, these minor drawbacks don't overshadow my genuine satisfaction with the overall performance and features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. I'm thoroughly pleased with this phone and can't wait to explore its full potential.-I'm really excited to try out the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. It's cool to get hands-on with these phones and see what they're all about. One thing that caught my eye is the storage upgrade in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 – it's going from 128GB to 256GB. More room for apps and files is always a plus. The new Flex Hinge in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 shows that Samsung's on the ball. They've fixed the gap issue from the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which is awesome to see. It's like they're actively improving things.I've also noticed that the Galaxy Z Flip 5's display seems brighter than the Galaxy Z Flip 4. This could make a real difference, especially when you're using the phone in different lighting. It's cool that they're thinking about the whole experience. With both phones having the same 8GB of RAM, I'm curious about their performance. How they handle apps and tasks with that shared memory is intriguing. It's reassuring that even with upgrades, the camera quality for both front and back cameras is still solid. Samsung's keeping the good stuff going.I can't wait to dive into the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. Thanks for giving me the c
Having bought this phone a month ago, I am thoroughly impressed with the practicality, appearance and the features of this phone.First off, the cover screen is amazing and extremely versatile:1. If you're into taking photos but you want to use the back camera, just use the cover screen to see what you look like on the other side. What's so practical about this is that you can use the higher quality image of the back camera - instead of the actual selfie camera - as your selfie camera.2. The cover screen also saves me from having to open the phone when my hands are full, and the fingerprint sensor (which is impressively good compared to other phones), lets me open my phone in less than a second.3. The main concern is that you can't open many apps on the cover ... MoreHaving bought this phone a month ago, I am thoroughly impressed with the practicality, appearance and the features of this phone.First off, the cover screen is amazing and extremely versatile:1. The cover screen also saves me from having to open the phone when my hands are full, and the fingerprint sensor (which is impressively good compared to other phones), lets me open my phone in less than a second.3. The main concern is that you can't open many apps on the cover screen - that's a lie. You can open EVERY app you own using the goodlock samsung app which takes a second to download. I have so far experienced no glitches or bugs on the small screen! The foldability is also the main features that this phone advertises, I mean, it's a flip phone. If you're wondering if the folding factor of this phone is really worth the price - yes, definitely:1. The folding feature is amazing for women's pockets.2. Folding the phone gives extra grip to your phone while recording, almost like a camcorder.3. You can prop it up without the phone falling, and even record yourself.4. OK, THIS IS INSANE - you can use your phone like a computer, literally. The phone folds and as you can use the bottom half as a trackpad while you move your mouse around the screen. Can your phone do that?5. Not to mention that multitasking lovers will cherish this folding feature!Lastly, the overall performance of the phone:1. Battery - This phone can often last me 1-3 days depending on my use, however I charge it often just to keep it from dying.2. Camera - decent and the back camera is really good in catching vivid landscapes, though I'm not a camera expert so I wouldn't know.3. Speakers and microphone - overall decent, the speakers are quite good for my case.4. Screen - The longer screen makes everything so much better, especially if you like watching videos or streaming movies on your phone! The brightness is great for daytime as well.Overall, I wouldn't expect too much in the performance of the phone since what you're really paying for is the folding characteristic and cover screen, although I believe it's extremely fantastic with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. The screen is quite crisp and the chip allows it to work fast and diligently, great for multitasking and gaming as well!!
I received my Flip 4 today, and from the very beginning I've been impressed. The unboxing experience was incredibly clean, and it helped make the device feel premium. You are just give the phone and a charging cable in the box, so be ready for that.Booting up the phone for the first time was great, and the screen feels incredibly tall, especially when compared to my old phone. Set up was a breeze until I need to transfer from my old phone. It took a few attempts to get it to connect via the cable, and even then it kept telling me that it would take up too much space on the Flip 4, even though my old phone was only 64GB. I was at least able to download my contacts using the cloud transfer option, and it did send through my applications list. After setting up, I was ... MoreI received my Flip 4 today, and from the very beginning I've been impressed. I was at least able to download my contacts using the cloud transfer option, and it did send through my applications list. After setting up, I was finally able to start playing around. The phone is nice and smooth to use, and with the extra tall screen, it makes apps like Twitter and Instagram feel better to use with the increased content on the screen. The camera is easy to use and the photos are pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to take anything of worth at this point, but I'll be sure to put it through it's paces. That first fold is nerve racking. It feels so unnatural at first to be folding your mobile phone in half. But this quickly goes away with each fold and now it feels natural. The front screen is cool and displays useful information, but it couldn't read any messages that came through, so its utility isn't as versatile as I thought going in. It might just be that I need to set something up.Overall, my immediate impressions are the phone feels great to use, nice and compact when folded. I'm looking forward to getting fully stuck in and using the phone properly over the coming weeks. The Z Flip 5 is quite simply a marvelous device. From it's stylish new colours (I opted for the exclusive yellow) to it's new cover screen, it stands out as an amazing upgrade from previous generations. And talking about that cover screen, it is amazing how much versatility the extra screen real estate brings to the device. Being able to reply to messages from the cover screen, with no need to flip the phone open, really helps speed interactions up during a busy work day. It also does wonders for the batter life as you no longer have to power that inner screen for the small interactions. And using the cover screen for selfies is sublime.I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a flip phone.
