The Boa system allows for a perfect fit over the instep, and the wide buckle on the shaft enables a secure closure along with the removable strap. The 62-degree shaft rotation may not seem impressive at first glance, but the fact that the shaft operates almost friction-free is truly enjoyable. This doesn’t mean you have to take giant steps with the shoe. A large shaft rotation primarily offers the advantage of being able to walk quite steeply with a relatively flat climbing aid on the binding. This results in less hassle and smoother movement. The shell does not conform to any binding standard, meaning that the F1 is incompatible with both frame and hybrid bindings. However, the small extension at the toes is perfect for attaching crampons. So, if you are a classic touring skier or enjoy long tours and value weight just as much as powerful descents, you should definitely consider the F1.
