We tested the Ember III quilt and it definitely lived up to it's temperature rating. I had this quilt out in the low 20's and remained comfortably warm. High quality down, very versatile strap system and gives you the benefit of a huge temperature range being a quilt. The Ember offers a unique strap system that allows you to tuck the edges of the quilt under the pad, giving you a ton of room to move around. If you are an active sleeper, you'll love this. If the temps drop, you can ditch the straps and just button the buttons together and basically use it like a sleeping bag on top of your pad.A couple things I thought could be better:1) The pad strap system was difficult to adjust if you needed to in the middle of the night. Other strap systems I've used are much easier to adjust on the fly, but with the Ember the adjustments are under the pad, so you have to either reach under and do it blindly or get out of the quilt. I think this could be better.2) I wish there was a snap or closure at the neck of the quilt. There are two hand pockets so you can tuck the edges under you, but there's no real way to really cinch it up around you neck. There is a draw string up at the neck which does a pretty good job in closing off drafts, but adding that button or clip for the cold nights would be an improvement I think.Overall a really nice quilt that is super versatile, fairly light weight, great quality as you expect from Sea to Summit and very warm.Check out our full review of this quilt on our website www.backwoodspursuit.com

This down quilt is my go to ultralight sleeping bag for summer mountaineering or backpacking. It packs down to almost the size of nalgiene water bottle. I use it as blanket when it is really warm at night or use the snap system to make it more of a mummy bag. I also use it as an extra layer on top of my winter sleeping bag for when I go snow camping. This quilt is versatile and can change ones sleeping system. I recommend highly. Worth the price! Nice work team.

Super compressible, super warm, lightweight. Slept comfortably in 30 degree weather in a completely exhausted state and was still toasty warm. Two days later slept in 55 degrees and was able to regulate temperature easily by adjusting quilt. Totally sold on quilts now instead of sleeping bags.

LUXURIOUS!
28 September 2020

This quilt is amazing. It packs down into the tiny stuff sack, but when you unpack it, it "inflates" itself into this fully lofted, luxurious comforter. The first time I unpacked it, I couldn't believe how thick it got. I also splurged on the Ether Light XT Insulated Pad and Aeros premium pillow. These three items go together so perfectly, it's satisfying to set it all up. The quilt cinches around the foot of the pad, locking in the heat around your feet and securing the quilt so it doesn't slip off the pad. The shoulder area is wide enough that my pup could snuggle under it with me next to my pad. I think the width of this quilt is critical. I have another quilt I bought a few years back (similar price) that gets drafty near the top because it's just slightly too ... MoreThis quilt is amazing. I have only done one trip (2 nights) so far with this set up, but right away I can say that I am in love with it.

Quilt for the win!
28 October 2021

I have been using my Sea to Summit Ascent sleeping bag as a quilt (unzip one side and drape it over me) for quite some time, so I finally decided to give an actual quilt a try. Most excellent experience! The cords at the footbox make it super easy to cinch around my feet for the cooler evenings. For the extremely cold nights (even below the temp rating of the quilt), the included straps allow me to wrap the quilt around myself, or myself and the pad, to prevent cold air from entering the side.Unlike other brands of sleeping bags/quilts, this down stays where it is needed and provides ample loft for trapping my body heat. This quilt paired with the Sea to Summit Thermolite Reactor liner is a light weight and versatile combination ready to keep you warm and cozy ... MoreI have been using my Sea to Summit Ascent sleeping bag as a quilt (unzip one side and drape it over me) for quite some time, so I finally decided to give an actual quilt a try. S2S Ember UL 30degree Quilt
26 July 2021

Quilt was not quite what I had hoped for. I bought the 30 degree quilt to hike the Collegiate West last week in CO. The bag was slightly heavier than advertised and was 1.68lb's right off the bat (inside stuff sack). I strapped it around my NeoAir Uberlite pad and was definitely not warm enough for the trip. Temps didn't get below freezing but I did and had to put several layers on each night to stay warm. The quilt wasn't built for 30 degrees. Would have been more comfortable in 45+ degree weather. Also, I am 5'10-5'11 and had trouble getting the quilt to stay above my chest level. Had to keep pulling it up all night to stay warm(er). Overall it's a decent quilt, but I intend on exchanging it for either a different bag/quilt or at least the Larger size.

The Best
30 September 2020

This quilt is the bomb! It is so light and yet very durable. I backpack with two dogs, one a border collie mix who barely stops moving, even at night, and a pitbull-lab mix who weighs 110 pounds. Even with all of us crammed in a tent and fighting over space this quilt has held up magnificently. I use it with the Sea to Summit Ether Light pad and am always sufficiently warm from mid-spring to mid-fall. I am a warm sleeper and am very uncomfortable in a sleeping bag, often trying to stick my feet out of the bottom of the bag even on cold nights, so the quilt style of sleep system has been a great setup for me. Highly recommend if you want to get into the quilt world.

Very Warm & Comfortable so far
1 May 2023

I purchased the 50 degree version and I have yet to use it outside. It's super-compact, high-quality and has kept me warm and toasty while testing my sleep system on my floor where my house it 60 degrees. It packs down super-small and feels like it weighs almost nothing. I am a new camper and am hoping this fits the bill for bike packing and possibly a 7-day ride across Iowa.

Very light, very comfortable
18 February 2024

Haven’t been able to camp with it yet but did use it for hammock sleeping on my porch. It was wonderful. Very warm and very very comfortable. Incredibly light. The foot box was great for keeping my toes warm all night. Slept great and had no issues waking up and have to adjust for cold spots or anything. Highly recommend.
