Guerlain is the only brand of perfume I can blind buy. I got this at a duty free store while we were flying back home from Mirocco vacation after trying for years to find in the US back in 2017. This perfume is something I will save for my next generation. I use it very sparingly and less us more with this perfume. It’s a clean sophisticated perfume which lasts 6 plus hours and it gets along really well with my body chemistry. This perfume is definitely not for all. The initial spray comes out strong and the then it starts shining through after half an hour or so. You can smell it for days on clothes. A classic vanilla with notes of citrus and incense. The vetiver, sandalwood from the dry down smell warm and comforting.

Another cheap imposter knockoff, a bad one at that

DO NOT BUY THIS!! Nor any other 1oz for $65 knockoffs. I bought Shalimar for my singing partner in the 1970*s, once you smell it you never forget it. It's haunting uplifting fragrance of citrus, vanilla. %26 floral notes will never be forgotten. It was $75 for 1/4oz for the parfume back then. Could it be even less expensive today?! NO! This cheap knockoff reeks of musty playdough. You are better off buying smells-alike oils for candles %26 incense. I got curious, I wanted to smell the real thing again. I found the real deal at Saks 5th, Macey's, Neiman Marcus et al for around $400 for 1oz of the PERFUME (not parfume, perfume being ~1/4th the potency). 1oz of the parfume could cost toward $1,000 today). Bad batch of this usually lovely scent

Unfortunately, I had to return the Shalimar. The scent was "off" and not anything like the scent that remained in my current bottle of Shalimar. That happened once before when I purchased Shalimar, and wonder if either Guerlain is having a trouble with production OR if the batch did not come directly from Guerlain. I purchased the Shalimar from the online Macy's and was grateful that the salesperson at the Scottsdale Fashion Square accepted the return without a problem. There wasn't any in stock so I could replace it. I'm so disappointed. It is one of my favorites for sentimental reasons...

Classic, unique, sexy.

Ok, I’ve read a few reviews that suggest that this is a older scent and not necessarily for younger women. However, I’m in my early 20s and I’m obsessed. It stands out in a world of fragrances that all smell the same sort of sweet, citrusy way. I love that this scent is heavier, and holds its own. It starts off powdery, with vanilla and citrus, and opens up to jasmine, amber, and incense. It’s exotic and not for the faint of heart. While powdery, it’s not too light or too girly. I have heard of Shalimar perfume ever since I was a kid, but never have smelled it since recently and oh my, is it exquisite. I was always too worried to give it a try, because of it being a vintage perfume. I was afraid it would smell like an "old lady" smell, but I was pleasantly surprised. The first spray was quite strong and it stays quite strong until the dry down. My goodness I have never smelled a drydown from a perfume that changes so much from the opening spray and notes. The perfume definitely has a vintage smell, but still in a modern way. It's very powdery and smooth and the scent has a mild sillage but great longevity on my skin. I do find it more fitting for a more mature woman, and even for mature 20 and 30 something year olds. Shalimar but not quite

This is a nostalgic scent for me. Unfortunately I only found the ghost of the original scent I remembered with such warmth. The initial scent was masked with something that resembled a chemical, akin to a cleaner. That’s harsh, and I am sorry but it’s true. I did try this for a few days because the dry down was a hint of the classic Shalimar. I returned it.

Shalimar is a classic

Shalimar is a classic perfume, suitable for all seasons and occasions. This makes it one of the go to perfumes in my collection, which includes many Guerlain, Dior, Tom Ford and Jo Malone perfumes. I would recommend Shalimar to anyone who is beginning to build a perfume collection. I know some women stick to one perfume as their signature but I dont see why you should restrict yourself when there are so many wonderful perfumes to enjoy.

I've been a fan of Guerlain and Shalimar in particular for many years. I've had a large number of Shalimar in different versions, but I never had the edt. So, I decided to get this one. The bottle is gorgeous, even though the cardboard box is flimsy and cheap feeling. I don't care about boxes so that bother me, but I had to mention it. The juice starts as a classic Shalimar, but unfortunately after a few minutes it developed a sharpness which reminds me of gasoline, and makes me queasy, just like I would be in a car with motion sickness. It lacks any kind of sweetness, the vanilla is dry and overwhelmed by some notes which I cannot describe. It resembles the original (vintage) edp but lacking all smoothness that one has.
