Shimano XT M8120 Disc Brake Set The XT M8120 brakes are the latest edition of the much loved Shimano XT range. Featuring the same Servo-wave lever design as the XTR range, they now come with a taller and flatter lever blade for better ergonomics. The M8120 brakes feature a more inboard clamp position which in turn increases braking efficiency and offers quicker brake engagement. The 4 piston design gives you plenty of power when you need it and the Ice Tech finned brake pads mean the brakes stay cooler under prolonged braking. Designed for aggressive trail riding but could be used on anything from an XC bike to an Enduro rig. Features: These are the 4 piston version. Materials: The lever is made from anodized aluminium and the caliper also features an aluminium body. Tool less reach adjust. Shimano Mineral Oil.

The best brakes I've ever used. I give 4 starts because they are loud. The bake pads rattle around inside the caliper housing obnoxiously. I had to put rubber bands around them to quiet them. For such an expensive part, this shouldn't happen. I'm not the only one to experience this, and I had to read threads online to learn how to quiet them. However, they are mighty brakes.

I upgraded from my 2 piston tektros to these and all I can say is WOW! Took a little while getting used to the extra stopping power. Setup was easy but I would recommend getting a bleed kit and extra fluid just in case.

Stop, collaborate, and listen. Shimano kills it with their brand new inventions.. A set of good brakes are a nice thing to have for some peace of mind. Updated my all mtn/trail rig nicely. Keep it rubber side down and these babies will get you slowed down in a hurry, don't forget to keep tires fairly fresh, that helps too. Cheers comrades, happy trails!!

Picked these for my Pivot Switchblade build and don't regret it one bit. I usually ride the SRAM Code RSC's, but decided to switch things up. These definitely bite quicker if you like that, but the thing I like the most is the bleed is so much better in my opinion. You don't have to deal with DOT fluid and the cup makes it easy to have a full bleed or just a burp if needed.
When I bought my Levo SL Comp, it came with Sram Guide R brakes and levers. I know they are lower end Sram brakes but I was completely dissatisfied with them. So since I've always used Shimano XT or XTRs I bit the bullit and got the XT 8120s. OH my, what a difference. Even though the Srams were 4 piston brakes there is no comparison to the Shimano 4 piston XT 8120s. I would rate these 5 stars and just as good as the XTRs plus a heck of a lot less expensive. I highly recommend them, even at full price.
Great brakes with awesome stopping power. These four piston brake system are extremely difficult to bleed the air. Be patient and plan to spend several hours bleeding them. It takes more than a syringe and a cup it takes time.
I like the feel of these brakes. Less mushy than SRAM. Same power really but just a different feel that I prefer. They do suffer from the same problem of Shimano brakes over the years with their variable contact point on rough trails. General trail riding is fine, it's when things get really rough that the problem occurs. Bite point varies greatly and can cause problems on the front when you get far more braking than you ask for. Unsettling for sure. I would think that they have worked this out by now...This is for a review of a front brake
Well lets see , they work good and look like good quality . the only thing I don't like is the pads rattle on the bumpy stuff. And you need an adapter or a Shimano shifter going from Sram cod R or RSC brakes. that's the other brakes I run.
Pretty much top of the line. The power is ridiculous. Good brake and braking technique actually make you a faster and more confident rider. This is an upgrade from SRAM G2 R that came on my bike. Buying brakes separately is always costly. But this is totally worth the price. I feel like there is about 100% increase in stopping power ( and this is with resin.. less powerful pads) and a huge amount of modulation ( SRAM has 0 of it but I knew it before). Bleeding should be easy compared to SRAM, the upgrade does require extra pieces ( SRAM rotors are 200mm and Shimano are 203, so a new mounting bracket is needed)I do not do many upgrades for my bikes and prefer keeping them stock by getting their end model with parts I want, but this is the single best upgrade ever ... MorePretty much top of the line. I just installed my new Shimano Deore XT BL-M8100/BR-M8100 Disc Brake and Lever the other day and it works great! I would highly recommend this part to everyone. Removed my old brake and lever and upgraded to the new Shimano Deore XT BL-M8100/BR-M8100 Disc Brake and Lever and it works great. Installation was fairly easy . MooseJaw is a great company to deal with. Everything went very smooth from start to finish. I would highly recommend this item or any other item you might need . I you need a part MooseJaw is the place to go. Very helpful and they had exactly what i needed.
