A true glutton for punishment, the legacy of the versatile Saragosa SW starts a new chapter in 2020 with enhanced capabilities and features to dominate the saltwater realm. The Saragosa SW now features Infinity Drive Technology and increases the reel’s winding torque under load compared to its predecessor to give anglers a distinct advantage over hard fighting game fish. Combined with a battle-tested rigid HAGANE Body that won’t flex under immense loads and the HAGANE Gear to create eternally smooth reeling, the capabilities of the Saragosa SW make it a thoroughbred workhorse among saltwater spinning reels. Benefiting from an IPX8-rated waterproof body, Saragosa SW also features a waterproof Cross Carbon drag and X-Protect for high-level water resistance to create long-lasting durability without sacrificing performance. No matter whether anglers are fishing inshore or offshore, jigging for bottom fish or casting baits at tailing fish, they can count on — just like they always have — the Saragosa SW to stay smooth no matter the conditions and perform when needed most. The bar is raised for saltwater spinning reels.

Sadly, I must have been sent a bad one .Used once second big fish of the day the drag only operates on the lightest setting screwing down doesn't increase the drag at all .I have done some troubleshooting to no avail and having had owned previous shimano reels ( twin power ) and read plenty of amazing reviews about this reel I am alittle disappointed.

After reading Alan Hawks review of this series of reels I was wanting to get one. They were hard to come by until May/June 2021. Still cannot find locally to test so took a leap of faith. AH was right, this reel is awesome and he rated it higher than Stella SW due to performance and price point. You can buy a 6k, a 10k and a 25k and still be spending lessthan a Stella. I have caught some nice fish with mine. My heart was broken when I leaned it up against a fence and it fell and hit some rocks and scratched the paint and got sandy. I cleaned it up and it is still super smooth but has some scars. I saw that they had a 20% off on the 8k so just ordered one today. To live bait offshore on the kayak in S. Florida most of the guides recommend an 8 or 10k size. Will see ... MoreAfter reading Alan Hawks review of this series of reels I was wanting to get one. The 6k is paired with a Grappler from Shimano and it is a good rod. Not sure what I will pair the 8k with but something with a sensitive tip so I can see if the live bait is covered in grass or getting nervous around predators. Tight lines!

I just opened the box and (1) put the reel on and gave her a spin hoping to watch the handle smoothly rotate for a long time...not. It seems as if there is no grease inside. I can feel friction as I rotate the handle. (2) after flipping the bail and then turning the handle the handle rotates but the bail will not even engage. My first piece of crap from Shimano. The last Shimano I purchased is a Tiagra 50/Wide it is awesome.I'm going to give Okuma a try now.

The Saragosa 10000PG is a super versatile reel for land based and offshore fishing. Smooth and effortless spin action with an nice size grip handle for winding. 15kg of drag for then the big fish decide to go for a run. I've got two spooled with PE5 braid and can't complain. Freddy's have the best price so well worth it.
Reviewing the 14k Saragosa size - Incredible retrieve rate and overall feel. I bought this reel to use as a multi-purpose offshore tool for targeting reef/wreck species and pelagics. We are often drifting over bottom and frequently changing spots and it makes a difference to be able to retrieve your bait as quickly as you can. Don’t overthink the higher gear ratio. The rod will do most of the work anyway when fighting the fish. This reel also pairs well with an 8’ G Loomis E6X/8’ XH Teramar for casting plugs to tarpon from the beach.
Had the reel for 5 months and at first I thought it was the perfect reel. Handled 10kg tuna with no fuss but after my 4th tuna the reel has massive tolerance issues and the anti reverse kicks in after a quarter turn backwards. Never caught any big fish with this reel and it did not do much work before the issues started surfacing.
Jordon at BCF was awesome. He spent at least 25min explaining the specs on the reel. He threw in a reel cover to seal the deal. The reel is so so smooth, light and very easy and comfortable to use for hours. I’ve matched it on a 6kg spin rod and can cast 35gm lures over 70mtrs. No tangles easy flow off the spool. I’ll have it a lifetime. Thanks BCF.
Brought it home. Installed the crank handle. Flipped the bail, turned the crank ,and the bail stays in the cast position. My first Shimono. Nothing to be impressed about. Back to Delaware to return it Monday. It's just a 45 minute ride. Not very happy about it.
Bought this reel to catch big offshore reef fish. I am so impressed with its robust, smooth and compact design. My first offshore trip produced some good size coral trout, red throat emporer and venus tuskies. The Saragosa handled these fish with ease. The ultimate test came when I hooked onto a 16kg amberjack with my drag just under full lock this monster pulled drag a few times but was no match for this reel ending the fight in about 10 mins or so. I was so impressed with the cranking power of this reel as I was fighting the fish. The only thing I will say is that the drag can be a bit hard to adjust but not an issue after seeing what this reel is capable of. Highly recommended powerful reel.
Bought this reel to take to Warroora Station in September, too bad it can't control the weather cause it blew for the entire week. I did manage to get to the outer reef one day and hooked onto a 4m shark. It handled to very well coupled with a Deep Jig 400 and 80lb braid. Enjoyed using the reel, very smooth and plenty of drag. Looking forward to summer and having another crack with it.
