My cat scratches really badly on carpet and furniture. She didnât used to, but the older sheâs getting, sheâs started to âscratch that itchâ. We trim her claws, weâve tried sprays, coatings, pads, toys, pheromones etc. Shes just very old and stubborn now! Our vet recommended caps. These are difficult to get on sometimes no matter how well behaved your cat is - itâs glue and a wiggling fur child. We have size medium which is great for a small cat. Itâs really easy to put too much glue and if you do it wrong, you can end up hurting your fur baby so make sure to do your research before jumping in, and less is more here (the glue can dry to their fur and cause matting... She can scratch all she wants and no damage done. We decorate them for holidays (this is Christmas). Now she doesnât even realize she has them on. The caps stay on for a few weeks at a time and through scratching, indoor and outdoor activities, in water etc. they can break or be bitten off so be weary. Check them often! Once you get the hang of them though it really helps with damage and allows your fur baby to do her thing! Sometimes, thatâs all you can do. Might as well make the best of it! đ˝đ

While trying to introduce a new cat into an established 3 cat home, one of the established cats absolutely hated the new cat, to the point of cornering him and attacking him with her claws. Well my neighbor, another cat lover told me about the soft claws so it turned out to be a real lifesaver, she can no longer scratch the new cat or the furniture or do damage to anything. But she can still do everything else sheâs always been able to do. He claws are now soft but still retract and do not affect her quality of life one little bit. Iâm so grateful for this perfect solution to a stressful problem. Problem solved, no more separating cat, no more stress! Great product and I highly recommend it!

My kitty was clawing my new furniture!! He will not use a scratching post and was causing some serious damage. My daughter, who is a veterinarian told me about these and even helped me put them on. They are still on almost 2 weeks later, donât seem to bother him at all! I got the sparkly gold, they look cute but more importantly they work! Just put them on the front paws, none needed on back limbs.

These were recommended by our vet as a solution for our youngish cat set on destroying everything in our house. I was skeptical that it would work but willing to give it a try, especially since our vet gives free vet tech appointments for application. So far they've been great. They clearly do not cause any distress for out cat. That's not to say he won't chew or pull on them because he does. However, it is usually only when he is grooming himself and I think once he adjusts to them as normal that will even go away. Despite his pulling attempts most are still on 2 weeks later which for our first application I had thought we'd be lucky for them to last a week.So we are pleased. Our ankles are pleased. Plus, as LSU fans, we think that our cat considers himself as mighty, fierce and majestic as Mike the Tiger so the color seems appropriate.
We have three cats, so I ordered the small, medium, and large (photo attached). The small is ludicrously small and we wonât be able to use them; Iâd say they are suitable for a kitten or very small cat. (I daresay the kitten size must be very, very tiny!) The large are too big for even our biggest cat, but they would be suitable for a Maine coon or larger cats with thick claws. We tried out the medium on our boy, Spike, who is about 12 lbs. Application was not too difficult, but it definitely requires two people: one to hold the cat and one with nimble fingers to fill the Soft Claws with glue and carefully slip them onto the claws. We only put them on the front feet. We only put them on the front feet. Spike didnât seem to mind them most of the time, and he was able to jump around and âclawâ his scratching posts like normal. But when he was bored or grooming, heâd bite them and pull on them quite doggedly. He had them all pulled off in exactly two weeks. One caused some bleeding and damage, so I didnât like that. But we are going to continue to try them on all three cats. We are nervous about our girls chewing on them and freaking out, which is why we started with Spike, who is generally more placid. But our goal is to protect them from scratching each other as our cats do not all get along.
I want to start off saying these were a last resort. We have a total of 18 scratching posts in our home, all of various textures and sizes that my cat loves, BUT she still scratches on the couch when we aren't looking, I promise you she has plenty of puzzle toys and stimulation as well. I bought these and I have to say, I'm impressed! Definitely trim their nails beforehand and make sure none are fraying as it will be uncomfortable for the cat and hard to apply them. I definitely recommend sizing up, my cat is only 9 lbs and she should've fit the medium, however I read the reviews about them running small and got a large for her. Definitely buy more applicator tips while you're at it as well! Overall I give them a solid 9/10. My cat can still scratch and stretch and grab things, there's just no claw damage done to anything. Shipping was super fast as well, only took a day to get to me!
We just received our Soft Claws today and they are soooo stinking cute! The glue caps are a little hard to use, but Iâm going to assume that itâs most likely user error since this was my first time ever using a product like this. As others have mentioned, it does help to watch some of the tutorials on YouTube before attempting to try this on your own. Luckily for me, I do have a very sweet, docile boy who doesnât necessarily like having his nails clipped, but he will let me do it, so Iâm sure this helped tremendously in the application process. I purchased the size Small caps because I was concerned the size Medium would be too big; however, I now realize I should have gone with the Medium caps (as suggested by the weight range). Although the size Small caps do fit, I think the Medium caps would be a better fit for our next purchase. This does not reflect on the product itself, I was just being too conservative when I decided to go with the smaller size despite the weight/size chart that is suggested. Overall, I think this is a great product and I have already placed another order for the correct size this time!
Iâve seen reviews about them falling off, but as long as you trim their nails first, like it says in the instructions, they stay on for anywhere from 2-4 weeks. If your fur baby doesnât like having their feet messed with, youâll have to desensitize them to that first. We have one that we have to swaddle in a blanket like a kitty burrito before we can apply them, no amount of desensitization has helped with her little feet. Itâs a little time consuming at first, but after youâve applied them a couple of times, it gets quicker. I put the applicator inside the caps and put the adhesive in that way and then put them on their nails. Pain free and stress free to my babies and to my curtains. The idea is great. The nail covers seem to be good quality as well. The application of glue I wish there was a different design and a better glue. The applicator tube is long and the amount of pressure to release the glue into the applicator then the glue to travel down the applicator into the nail cover just was not working well at all. It was my first time but I am going to try again. The ones I did manage to get on my cat, she pulled off in minutes. I will be trying maybe some bitter spray so she doesn't pull them off. I would still recommend because of the quality of the cover.
These caps are a total life-saver. If you're on the fence about buying them, don't be. I've always had issues with my cat trying to destroy my carpet despite having SEVERAL other scratching options. But we recently moved and when you combine his not-so-sunny natural disposition with the stress of being in a new area, he became even more destructive. I tried sprays, double-sided tape, and even purchased three different types of scratching posts but nothing worked until I tried these nail caps! I feel like I'm living with an entirely different cat! He even gets along better with his other furry roommate now. I've even caught them snuggling!!! Not sure why, but I'm definitely not complaining!I do have to occasionally replace a cap or two in between sets but it's well ... MoreThese caps are a total life-saver. I've always clipped my cat's nails so I didn't have any issues applying them. To him, it was just business as usual. They did seem to annoy him the very first time I put them on, but he got used to them pretty quickly.
