Had the TV for about 3 months now and overall really pleased with the quality of picture and speed of the interface. Full disclosure, this is my first time buying above an entry level TV so my expectations for spending 2-3 price are high. I paid around AU$1.8k on special.Compared to my mid level TCL Google TV that often hangs when switching between apps this Sony Google TV is snappy and seamless. The quality of colour and the depth of the blacks is very impressive but does have its shortcomings. Particularly noticeable when playing games with white loading screens, but presents in all contexts, there is silhouetting in the corners (darker in the corners where the light distribution fails to properly fill). I personally find it very distracting and have never experienced this with even much cheaper TVs, which is really disappointing but apparently common with this type of panel. Had the TV not been so big and wall mounted I probably would have returned it for that reason alone. The other key gripe is again on game loading screens, black screens that have white text or icons, because the blacks are so dark, there's a noticeable glow around those specific areas. That part is really only noticeable in that scenario however and isn't detrimental to general video viewing.Less important miscellaneous details, you cannot control optical audio with the remote which I could do on an older Sony TV so now I have to connect via headphone aux port which automatically lowers the output which is annoying. The TV doesn't have any RCA ports and doesn't come with an adapter (sold separately) which my cheaper TCL included for free. Last issue is that default remote it comes with is pretty basic and I don't find the button positioning intuitive. The TV help info told me the remote has back light and "find my remote" functionality but apparently that is only on a higher tier TV, or perhaps in overseas markets.Overall a very nice TV and generally happy but personally at the price, I'd hoped to be more satisfied. Maybe others who have spent much more expensive OLED TV's would consider this cheap and perfectly adequate

Recently upgraded during the Black Friday sales. I upgraded to take advantage of the newer HDMI 2.1 features with my PS5 (and AV receiver with eARC). The TV is great for gaming as I had hoped and is a nice improvement from my previous TV when it comes to TV and movies (the X90E is still really solid in this regard). The local dimming and HDR is a nice improvement, my previous TV didn’t do dolby vision so that's a welcome addition. The colours and highlights really pop and the vibrancy of the colours is really noticeable (using custom or cinema with expert1 colour and most excessive enhancements switched off). The remote is a nice improvement, much smaller but keeping all the buttons I actually need. The menu changes are also smartly done with the prior app shortcuts being incorporated into the inputs menu (if you want it). I also really like the quick settings and the level of customization that is available. The eARC feature works great with my older STRDN 1080 Sony receiver passing through Atmos and such through flawlessly. Also from a sound perspective the Airplay 2 addition is really nice (amp has airplay 1) as it responds quicker and integrates better with home kit. My wife and I regularly use the TV and screen off function for music and the dolby sound setting smartly selects multi speaker stereo for music (which sounds great with my setup).Minor gripe if anything is that the picture appears to be a bit cooler than my previous TV with the same settings (custom/cinema in expert1). It may just be adjusting to the more vibrant picture of the new TV but I’ve never felt the need to properly/proffesionally calibrate a Sony TV before and I’m hoping this won't be the first. As with the previous x90E I really don’t think there is a better midrange TV available in Australia. Very happy over all.

When showing live streaming - eg foxtel it is jittery. The various picture settings do improve the quality - but the screen resolution is always upscaled to 4K when a lower standard HD resolution would be better. Additionally, the TV's sound quality may not be as impressive as its picture quality, and users who want a more immersive audio experience may want to consider getting a soundbar or a separate audio system.Overall, the Sony 65" X90K is an excellent 4K HDR TV that offers good picture quality, gaming features, and access to a wide range of streaming apps and services. Its HDR performance is particularly noteworthy, making it an ideal choice for users who prioritize this feature. However, users who need wide viewing angles or prioritize audio performance may want to consider other options.

This TV is just short of the flagship models in specification.Sony definitely need to go back to the drawing board re the user interface. I certainly wouldn't recommend this TV to a novice. Fortunately I've had a fair amount of experience with TV setups so I've managed to adjust the tv to my liking.....eventually! Without doubt Sony are lagging behind LG's WebOS and the Samsung OS.I'll persevere but if the soundbar disconnects again, the TV is going back!

We have recently purchased a Sony XR-55X90K 65” TVFirstly, I have to mention that the display and picture quality is fantastic and we are loving that aspect of itHowever there are a a couple of issues that are very annoying which I am hoping are able to be remedied with a software updateFirstly (smaller issue first)The constant ‘blipping’ noise that we have to listen to whenever we use the search up and down the channels in the TV guide is incredibly annoyingSurely it should be possible to choose to mute this on a permanent basis in settings, or reduce its volume by 60%I can kinda tolerate it but it drives my wife crazy! My second, but more important issue is the somewhat inadequate ability to access files on a portable data storage device via the USB portMy ... MoreWe have recently purchased a Sony XR-55X90K 65” TVFirstly, I have to mention that the display and picture quality is fantastic and we are loving that aspect of itHowever there are a a couple of issues that are very annoying which I am hoping are able to be remedied with a software updateFirstly (smaller issue first)The constant ‘blipping’ noise that we have to listen to whenever we use the search up and down the channels in the TV guide is incredibly annoyingSurely it should be possible to choose to mute this on a permanent basis in settings, or reduce its volume by 60%I can kinda tolerate it but it drives my wife crazy! My second, but more important issue is the somewhat inadequate ability to access files on a portable data storage device via the USB portMy previous TV was a 7 year old Samsung 55” LED and before that a smaller Samsung 11 year old flat screenThese both could access files (well, about 98% of them) and play them no problems and infinitely better and quicker than my 2022, XR-55X90KThe first time I tried to access my files on my Sony it couldn’t even display any at allThen I tried again later, and they were thereTried again another time and they were not there!I thought that I would try to format the 2TB portable Hard Disk via the XR-55X90KBIG Mistake! This made the disc absolutely unusable. Not only on the XR-55X90K, but also my PC and elsewhereThanks Sony! Why would you do this? So, I purchased another portable hard diskI again put my rather large collection of videos, movies etc on my new portable hard disk and it had problems opening the folders. It continually said ‘Please Wait’ … for hours! I gave up trying thatI then tried to drastically reduce the amount of files on the discThis seemed to make a difference (though it took some time)… but it seemed to have a problem with .MKV and .AVI files.AVI it had a problem with & .MKV sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t.My 2 old Samsungs were able to access 100% of the files on my portable hard drives (otherwise why would I keep them?)My question is, why could my two 6 and 11 year old Samsung TVs have no problems with displaying and accessing my files from my portable hard drives yet my 2022 Sony cannot?Could this PLEASE be rectified via a software update?Otherwise I will be going back to Samsung which is a far more intuitive TV

This is a well-informed review

I hope other buyers will find this very honest review useful. I don’t want this to sound like a bragging exercise because it isn’t, but I have the latest Samsung in the bedroom, the latest LG oled in our lounge and this new Sony EXR in the kitchen, the TV itself cosmetically is extremely nice if not as thin as the latest LG oled, but that didn’t concern me as I wasn’t, aiming for the design of the TV itself, I was very interested in how it would perform against a top end Samsung LED and very high-end LG.0led, and the reality is this is by far a better TV than any Samsung LED in my personal opinion, and if you feed it the right content, is easily as good as my LG oled, which is truly remarkable at the price point, the local dimming works brilliantly. Perhaps not as scientifically perfect as the blacks delivered by Lead, but boy is it impressive for the price, I would caveat that and say the TV is less than perfect with SDR content But I have found that to be the case with most high-end panels, but when the Sony is fed quality 4K footage, like the type you get from built in Bravia, core service which you get free credits for. Thanks Sony unexpected bonus, the TV comes to life and gives extraordinary blacks and beautiful colour and is astonishingly bright. , and my wife and child are the absolute polar opposite, but the first time we all watched the Sony using Bravia core. Everybody commented on the IMAX experience being just stunning. . If LG and Samsung ruled the roost for the last five or so years, that’s over now, Sony is back
