Your home will be safer. Collars or tokens that get lost or worse, can get caught in branches etc. are not required. Handling the SureFlap microchip pet flap is child's play. When the device is installed and the batteries are inserted, the cat flap can be put into the learning mode. The next time your cat walks through the flap, the unique ID code of your chip is stored. SureFlapTM now always opens when your cat wants to enter the house. This also works with several cats. Up to 32 cats can be detected by the flap at the same time. Normally, a battery will last longer than 6 months. The battery level indicator will inform you when the battery is changed. With the fourfold locking system you can lock the door in any combination for indoors and outdoors. The veterinarian mode, for example, allows your cat to enter the house, but does not let her out, so she is already in the house for the next appointment with the veterinarian.

Biggest problem - Whoever designed this must live in the world of midget cats. I have read this complaint in other places, but since my cat (a russian blue female) is one of the smallest adult cats I've ever owned, I didn't think it would be a problem.I don't see how a regular adult Tom cat would ever get through this comfortably. Earline (my cat) has to squeeze through it touching the frame on all sides. it doesn't present her a significant problem, but doesn't help either. The flap should really be about 7 inches by 7 inches to be the correct size. That would make it about the same size as a half cinder block which would aid with installation. This brings up another problem, although not a big one. The frame for which you have to cut a hole in your wall is odd ... MoreBiggest problem - Whoever designed this must live in the world of midget cats. I can only think the purpose for designing it this way is for aesthetics as there is no significant cost saving in manufacturing it that way. It should really just be squared off on the bottom to simplify installation.Getting her to use it. I always thought she was pretty smart, but so far she only uses it to go outside, she has yet to come inside with it. Been working on this for about a month now and so far the only way I can get her out is to put her in front of it and hold it open for her. There have been a couple of times she's done it on her own, but still she persists on going to the door and yowling at me to let her out instead. I'll keep trying with this thing, I may just take it apart and use the mechanism to make one that works better.

Worth the money in my opinion, love knowing when our cat has come in and when he has gone out just by checking my phone. Can easily check entry or exit history by phone notifications or looking at the app. Sometimes not knowing if he has been out all night is worrying but then reassured for example to see on my phone that he has been home and only left an hour ago. Peace of mind also knowing that only our cat can enter the cat flap due to the microchip. Curfew times work well if needed. The app notifies you also when batteries are running low. Long battery life. Only downside is setting up on the hub can be tricky, but once set up and connected to the hub all is good.

Plastic so no jingling to get him caught by predators. And it's of course a break away collar. He is very food motivated and so it was super easy to train him especially since the door is clear. And not cloudy at all. The only concern we had initially was he wanted to push it open with his paw and they need to get their head, or tag closer, in there to trigger it. But it was only a matter of 2-3 days that he figured that out and lost the timidness. He also has an extra long tail so he would come through then linger and not let the flap shut and the locks would activate. The flap isn't heavy enough it seems to go over the locks. But there are 2 custom settings to delay the locks to 5 or 10 seconds. I was thinking of this but we just moved his food bowl further away from it. Like I said, he's very food motivated. He beats us in the garage now when it's time to eat. Our garage is corrugated metal sided. No insulation or dry wall, just metal. No installation problems. My husband did put a little bit of a frame with spare 2x4's around it for hold security since it's just the metal. We did not need an extender in our case. Now he has a full 3 car garage, out of the weather, his bed, blankie and Christmas mouse by Dad's work bench, his food and water safe from other animals and his heated box all to him self. This was a great choice and investment. We were able to get it in brown as well to match our future paint plan. Everything counts!

Within two weeks my cat learned how to use his claws to pull the door inward and escape into the unsafe night with coyotes!!! The locks are so cheap and flimsy-I was going to review just that part but now I can see they won’t even keep my cat inside I’m super frustrated. I can’t keep this unreliable device when it puts my cats life in danger. And it was such a pain to install!!!If that wasn’t an issue the idea and functionality of the door would be the best thing ever.
I upgraded to the connect pet door after recently starting fostering 2 other cats and I'd like my current cat access to the outside but keep the rescues locked inside via entry/exit permission. Which should let me choose which pet can leave and which one can only stay indoors. This option is no longer available on the Sure Petcare App after watching their youtube tutorial on how it is supposed to work. We are now left stressed after one of the rescues escaped through the pet door and we are still searching for it. Very disappointed to say the very least. Also, I installed this Petdoor 3 weeks ago with brand-new batteries and I am already getting a message of low batteries. Nowhere near the 1-year battery life advertised.Lastly, the signal drops out constantly. ... MoreI upgraded to the connect pet door after recently starting fostering 2 other cats and I'd like my current cat access to the outside but keep the rescues locked inside via entry/exit permission. The distance between the receiver to the pet door is about 6.5m with no closed door in between. This product would be great should it have worked as promised.Would like Sure Pet team or Pet Circle to contact me regarding this.
I've read it takes time for cats to get used to the lock's clicking sounds when coming into house. My cat is half way through week 2 and still not going through. Exiting the house is no problem. I'm assuming my cat will figure this out eventually. The custom settings are very useful. They are why I bought the door, but not easy to set and unset. Also not easy to see which ones are set by looking at the screen. This is why I gave the product only four stars. It's a great idea if they could just make it a little easier to modify and view the custom settings. Currently I have two of these settings set at night: tentative cat setting #3, and intruder setting #5. Then during the day I delete those and go back to just one setting #1, which allows open access in both ... MoreI've read it takes time for cats to get used to the lock's clicking sounds when coming into house. Having to reset these every single night and every morning is tedious. Please fix this in the future. Also a slightly stronger magnet as occasionally the door doesn't close all the way. Terrific customer support from the manufacturer. They sent me a new heavier door. I haven't installed it yet. I hope it isn't too heavy for my cat.
We’ve used this door for about a year to ensure that our outdoor cats can access their enclosed, climate controlled porch - and we love it! They learned how to use the door almost immediately and seemed happy they no longer had to share the food dish with the neighborhood possums or raccoons.A couple weeks ago, we thought the door had finally been outsmarted by an enterprising raccoon- but no! It had one more trick up its sleeve that has kept the little trash pandas off the cats’ porch. There is a setting that still allows the cats to access the porch normally, but when any animal without an approved microchip tries to pull the door open, the outer locks engage and prevent entry. Brilliant! We don’t use the curfew/timer settings, so I can’t speak to that, but I can say this door has absolutely surpassed our expectations. For us, it was completely worth the price!
While the product works ok. it has two quite major flaws.1. If the wifi fails in any way while your cat is outside. they will be locked out. Same goes for if the batteries die.2. The description states that the batteries will last for months. I have tried this with two sets of batteries and they didn't last a couple of weeks
I see some comments here suggest there have been issues after a few months so I want to highlight I have had this foe three months Dec 23 to March 24. I have not used any curfews on the app but all alerts have been correct and the flap has always closed from what I am aware.I put a good set of batteries in the flap in late December and I have just got the warning that the batteries are low but still working, that makes it about 13 weeks in cold weather. I had issues linking this to my eero wifi mesh system, port forwarding did help but still the eero was throttling the connection so I had to connect the hub direct to my Virgin modem/router. You do really need to use good non rechargeable batteries unfortunately. I did try to use rechargeable batteries first but the flap kept on displaying low charge as rechargeable batteries are 1.2v not 1.5v.I'm only giving 4 stars as at this price there should be an option to plug this into the mains. I may even consider wiring up a 6v direct current source in the future.
I purchased two of these pet doors for two small dogs (following the instructions to measure them to make sure they would accommodate both dogs, and they do - a six-pounder and a ten-pounder) and programmed them with both chip numbers prior to installation as per the instructions ... but it turns out that ordinary pet doors would have been better for me, especially for the price. So, a few things to consider before you buy:My pets enter/exit feet-first, batting at the door and then coming through. So when the door is set to read microchips - which is its whole purpose - it won't open. Also, some kind of obvious visual cue to let them know when a door is closed/locked would be better: they just bat at locked doors, with incomprehension and increasing ... MoreI purchased two of these pet doors for two small dogs (following the instructions to measure them to make sure they would accommodate both dogs, and they do - a six-pounder and a ten-pounder) and programmed them with both chip numbers prior to installation as per the instructions ... but it turns out that ordinary pet doors would have been better for me, especially for the price. So, a few things to consider before you buy:My pets enter/exit feet-first, batting at the door and then coming through. So when the door is set to read microchips - which is its whole purpose - it won't open. Also, some kind of obvious visual cue to let them know when a door is closed/locked would be better: they just bat at locked doors, with incomprehension and increasing frustration/panic, and then we have to review/retrain for them to trust the door/s again. Lastly, for nearly $300 each (because for any install other than into a door, you'll need at least two "tunnel extenders," if not more, at $20 each), they should just look better and be more durable. It's like no one really thought-through the tunnel extenders or the exterior trim - they are very cheap-looking and overly-dependent on caulking; like they were all afterthoughts. So, I drilled and chiseled holes into my house to install these fancy pet doors that will forever require batteries in order for me to leave them open all the time, like any good basic/ordinary pet door! In hindsight, the more ordinary, tried-and-true, mechanical pet doors would have been better for me and my current pets, and a better value.I do have high hopes for the idea here though: when I had cats, I had other unwanted cats (and one feral cat) follow my cats into my home. Chaos trying to help the unwanted animals find an EXIT. I've also had raccoons enter my home through pet doors. ("Chaos" is a total understatement when there are raccoons trapped in your cupboards.) I think the idea behind these doors is good and would help solve those kinds of issues.
