A Great Fit

Wedges have always been the hardest club to fit in the bag. Shafting, lie ,loft, grind, length, spin from assorted groves etc. I’ve found in the past 20 years that the best method for my 0 handicap, which I’ve maintained for 60 years, is to find a shaft that fits you where you have exceptional feel for distance and spin control. Then put a new head on it every year. Now this may sound ridiculous to the tour van fitter, but he doesn’t come to my club to fit me. Occasionally I step out from this when I see something that interests me. Since I have been playing Taylor Made wedge’s for awhile I thought I would custom fit myself. First a shaft I like. Nippon, then a new loft 54.6° , down from 56. Getting a bit older seeps into my distance control. my usual, 1 inch longer ... MoreWedges have always been the hardest club to fit in the bag. My strike has always been just ever so slightly towards the toe. Now for the results of my non tour van fitting. Excellent. My distance control is excellent, along with flight and spin. Next up is a new 60°

These wedges have blown my mind. I’ve used Vokeys, Clevelands and Mizuno S23s and I’m shocked with the amount of spin these wedges produce. Granted, I’m a high handicap player that struggles with producing spin at times with my wedges but these definitely have helped out beyond what I imagined. They do tend to rust on the raw face but it’s stated that it’s expected and that it helps maintain the spin. I haven’t seen any decline on spin due to rust yet. Highly recommend these wedges.

I purchased this wedge after talking with a few friends who sang praises regarding the precision of this offering from TM. Excellent feel and control with the MG4. I have the 52 and 56. The 52 is my gap and it works great with full to 3/4 swings. But the 56 is worth its weight in gold! Such great feel and spin. Chips around the green, using it in greenside bunkers, this club has improved my strokes gained in a true tangible measure. Prior to this wedge I had used Cleveland and Vokey, but I am now using MG4 from here on out!

Good control
15 August 2024

I had worn out a vokey wedge (bought used 5 yrs ago) and I didn't want to fork out a large sum to get another so I went for this. Reviews were good enough. I get a lot of good control out of this wedge. I'm excited to see how it performs in a bunker, just haven't done it yet. The rusty club face thing threw me off at first. Seems like I should clear it off the club but I just let it be, I guess. Takes a few weeks to get a solid layer of corrosion. Weight of the club is excellent. Grip feels great. Very satisfied.

Recently getting back into golf after a break and my wife bought me a nice TaylorMade set. After a few rounds I decided a gap wedge was needed. After a bit of research I decided on the MG4.The morning after it came in I had a golf lesson and didn’t get a chance to hit it. Following the lesson I had a Tee time. On the first hole my drive was a bit left. I had 115 to the hole with a very tall tree in front of me. First swing with the MG4 cleared the tree and ended up on the green hole high about 10 feet left.I find myself in between sand and pitching distance regularly and love the 50 degree MG4. Decided on black and glad I did.

Mill Grind 4 vs Vokey SM9
10 July 2024

I have been a Vokey wedge player for over 20 years( 48, 54 and 58 degree Vokey SM9, 1 year old). 9.0 Index player. I tried the MG4 at a fitting event recently , and purchased a 50 degree MG4. I hit the 50 degree about 3-5 yards longer than my 48 Vokey, with approx 15-20 more height, and more backspin. The MG4 has a slightly larger club face and toe and a rough, sandpaper like face treatment. The feel is has an amazing forged, ground/milled club feel. The Vokey wedges are cast. I just put in my order for the 54 and 58 MG4's. I will need to recalibrate my thinking on my wedge distances, but the feel, spin and performance of these wedges will have a positive effect on the course.

Milled Grind 4 Wedges
20 March 2024

Played 2 rounds with the new milled grind 4 wedges. They are awesome. On full shots they spin and stop on the dime. Chipping and pitching will take some time to get used to. When chipping and pitching the ball spins and stops much quicker than my Vokey wedges. You have to adjust and fly the ball further because it will roll out less. It will take some time to make the adjustment but well worth it. The stock green labeled tour issued shaft is a great feeling shaft. I was fitted by a Taylormade rep and loved the shaft right away. Tried a few other shafts but for me this was the best feeling shaft. These are great wedges. I highly recommend them.

TW is for real - not just a marketing tool
8 March 2024

Over the last three years I have been diligently building my gamer set. My wedges have gotten the most scrutiny as I have tested several makes and styles to find what best suits my game and the turf conditions at my home course. Living in south Texas with mild winters and scorching summers lies are either extremely tight or super fluffy with the ubiquitous Bermuda grass. Because of this I have struggled to find a high-loft wedge that I can feel confident about. I have finally found the holy grail with the Tiger Woods MG4 56°. Simply put, this wedge is incredible - even when compared to the other three MG4s in my bag. The "TW" stamped on the back of the club head is NOT a marketing ploy. This wedge is endowed with Tiger's knowledge and wisdom gleaned from the many years of golf dominance and long list of accomplishments, and it is for real. Around the green and out to 40-50 yards this wedge is like a finely tuned target rifle. It's like cheating. I have no problem sticking little pitch shots to inside 8 feet all day long and even though I play a "soft" ball the ball comes to a screeching halt if I do my part. Folks, this is so good that only after two rounds I am already looking for a spot in my bag for the 60°.

The Best of the Best
29 December 2023

I recently purchased the 46° and 48° Milled Grind 4 wedges. The 46° was ordered with a stronger loft to 44° since this would be my new PW. These wedges are just incredible. The addition of the micro grooves really adds tons of back spin. On most approach shots it is a "one bounce and stop" result. When you hit the ball it feels like the club face grabs the ball for an instant before it releases it with a lot of back spin. I also like the size and shape of the club head. Just slightly larger than I'm accustomed to, but the result is an increased sense of confidence when addressing the ball. These two are a wonderful accompaniment to my 52° and 58° Hi-Toes. Together as a set I can handle just about any situation from 120 yds. in. The best keeps getting better
12 March 2024

I bought an MG3 58º wedge last year and it is really versatile. I needed a new PW so I bought the 46º in the new MG4. I custom order all my clubs being 6'5" tall. Rapid delivery, top quality. The new club fit seamlessly into my bag with barely a few practice balls hit. Excellent down-flighting of the ball with little to no effort, I just think the shot and I pull it off. TM wedges spin exactly the right way, not all super-jazzed up overspin that's uncontrollable.I had been given some SM 9 wedges 2 years ago and I gladly traded them in for credit. I have no reservations in a full endorsement of this club,
